HERE COMES A NEW GS RANT

So this time, more than a rant, I think at this point i’m just dissapointed. The action scenes were dull af, there wasn’t any good animated moments as in episode 7, and the moments that were pretty impressive in the manga weren’t so in the anime...for example:

1.-Lizardpriest trying to lift the mirror, 

2.-The reencounter of gs and the goblin champ,

3.-The kick from high elf archer at the end of the fight and of course..THE AWFUL 3D MOD of GS used in the final dialogue with sword maiden and gs.

Now, I know I always bring the “manga card” while ranting but this time, jugding the anime w/o taking the manga in consideration, it was a pretty fuckin boring episode tbh. So(SPOILER ALERT),I just wish that the Goblin Lord arc saves the anime, because it’s the most relevant part left in the manga so far and last I think they are gonna include in the first season.

Goblin Slayer 1st Season Review

What can I say? The first episode was a good hook. It lived to the hype that was made, and then there was a lot of controversy because of “those” scenes. The second episode was “ok” and the third was the set up for episode 4 and the first big challenge, a great episode it was. Episode 5 was bad because it wasn’t even a manga chapter, it was an episode based of a spinoff. Episode 6 was the setup for 7, where we saw GS fight the Goblin champion, which was, for me, a bad animated episode. 8 was the setup for 9, and the 9th episode was really lame because the scenes frome the manga were exceptionally better that the ones of the anime, the comparison is just sad, but it was the most important episode in plot terms. 10 was the setup for the last arc, which I think was the best in the anime, tho it wasn’t supposed to be like that because the goblin arc was before the goblin champion one. But then again, it was the best arc in the anime and a good season finale. 

I would rate the whole season with a solid 6.9/10 just because the last arc was “good enough”. IMO the animation was awfull, the 3D Mod that they constantly use and awkwardly change to 2D was too distracting, climax turnoff and also lame. Also the fight scenes always looked “choped” and “too quick”. The way that they structured the episodes were bad, they always filled half the episode with generic dialogue and left the action in second place whereas in the manga the action was more than half of the chapters. More so, they made episode where there was, in their majority, dull and generic dialogue. 

My take on this is: Don’t watch the manga (light novel) before the anime, now that the season is over, watch the whole 12 episodes THEN the light novel, that way I think u will enjoy the season better. 

I really expect the animation gets better in the second season which I THINK it’s going to be based on “goblin slayer year one” which for me, it’s an action filled spin off, very enjoyable and I can say, if well animated and structured, could be a solid 8.5/10. But I dont think the actual animation house, White Fox, is going to get any better.

It’s kind of nice to see the guild girls frustration to seek Goblin slayer’s attention to her. she wants him to see…
