Day 3 MAA CHANDRAGHANTA पिण्डज प्रवरारूढा चण्डकोपास्त्रकैर्युता। प्रसादं तनुते मह्यम् चन्द्रघण्टेति विश्रुता॥ या देवी सर्वभू‍तेषु मां चन्द्रघण्टा रूपेण संस्थिता। नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥ Chandra means crescent of moon and ghanta means the bell which is adorned on her head. She is the married manifestation of mata Durga who emerges with courage, power to destroy the demons. I love reading how upper class Brahmins adapted the culture of so called dalit communities during the middle ages. I love how they bramhinized the culture of the people whom they discarded from their society to save their religion during the Islamic Invasion. The lower class communities created their own gods to fulfill their needs as they were not allowed to worship the gods of the upper class. They created god like Manasa(the godess of snakes), Chandi(a localised version of Durga), Dharma ,Annoda or Annapurna. Even the Radha whom the desiblr adores and worships was primarily a local goddess a local myth, she was not a part of the veda purana tradition of upper class Hindus. The only reason they decided to adopt these local, small deities is because the bramhins felt threatened by the rise of Islam in India . Therefore they decided to include these gods in their upper class stories by creating new tales so they could appeal to the common mass.

Day Three: Chandraghanta | चन्द्रघण्टा

Chandraghanta represents Parvati on her wedding day. Parvati was given this title by Mahadeva himself, due to her wish to have Chandra, the Moon God, adorn her  forehead, as her Lord was adorned by the crescent moon upon his crown of matted locks, giving rise to his name Chandrashekhara.

Her fierce form is capable of destroying obstacles both on the inner path as well as the outside world. Her devotees easily achieve success in life. She bestows divine vision on them. Sometimes they hear divine fragrances and sounds.

1. The reason you're seeing a lot of posts on Ram is because of the Ram Mandir and people are happy about it. Literally the only male gods I see on Tumblr being talked about are most likely Krishna and Ram.
