Miyazaki is literally never going to actually retire. He’s going to have at least 8 more ‘this is his last movie for real, we actually mean it this time, he’s done after this one’ films before he dies, and then he’ll claw his way out of the grave to make another.

I watched the boy and the heron and was immediately possessed by the urge to make these ! Its been a while since I've busted out the polymer clay so these are my rough little prototypes (and just sealed with mod podge since my gloss glaze has long since dried out rip) hoping to make more in the new year to sell at some local conventions!

i genuinely don't mean this in a like. condescending way. but reading people talk about how Confusing and Nonsensical and Overpacked boy and the heron is make me feel insane. every single plot point is clearly spelled out; frankly, one of my only critiques of the movie is that i wish they'd left some of it LESS clear. yes, the second half is rich in dreamlike fantasy, but the story never breaks its own rules, and before every major reveal in the fantasy world theres an extremely obvious explanation — almost too on the nose to even call it foreshadowing — from somebody. like i just don't understand how anybody finds it impossibly confusing and weird and bad to engage with

im not going to get too into this right now because im currently in shock, but
go see the boy and the herron.
hayao miyazaki is a genius in every sense of the word, and we will never be able to go see a brand new movie from him in theatres ever again. That was genuinely the most amazing thing I've ever witenessed. i can't fucking describe with words how wonderful that was to watch and im honestly probably gonna cry just typing this-
Miyazaki was what got me into art, and seeing that movie was. just. incredible. please go see it. it might be the best work of art there is.

Here is my review for The Boy and the Heron:
My youngest son (8) was sobbing at the end saying "That was the best movie I've ever seen!"
