“are you sure you’re okay? i threw that snowball kind of hard…” he then says, moving closer. you stepped back, of course, cautious of him. he steps back as well, in surprise, realizing that what he’s doing might seem creepy to you. the ginger sheepishly rubs his golved hand on his neck, avoiding eye contact now. “it’s—i’m alright. thank you for the concern, though.”

“can i at least treat you for some hot cocoa? i know a place that serves the best you’ll ever taste.” he offers. you pondered about it for a moment, leaning more on the option of rejecting the offer. but before you could say anything, he already spoke first. “i insist—it’ll be quick, i promise! i just didn’t want you to leave it like this.” well, at least he knows he’s insistent. “fine, one hot cocoa it is then.”

“great! i’m ajax, by the way.”

you froze with your child’s question. it was a funny tale, really. you looked outside of the kitchen window, reminiscing that day once again. “he threw a snowball at my face.” you chuckled as you continued cutting the apple in your hand.

“huh?! that must’ve hurt then!”

“well, it did, but look where that brought us now.”
