delightful experience w guests where there was a young man traveling from hamburg, and later, a group of older guys came in and sat down, and mentioned they were from "just outside hamburg" and I was like oh, are you with that gentleman over there? bc its not uncommon for someone to show up to the seating period to hold a spot for friends or family who are still in the bathroom or the gift shop or something, but they said, no

but all the same they went over and introduced themselves and seemed to appoint him as an honorary member of their group, and were, like, including him in their vacation photos, and im very charmed by that

what's the dumbest (funny) thing you've ever done

went kayaking this last summer while wearing my favorite giant floppy black sunhat and was shocked and upset when it flew off my head in the wind. i somehow lost it in 3 feet of clear water and i still havent gotten over it. then spent at least the better part of a week trying to find a replacement and its just ok.

I think one of the things that most helped me chill out and not worry about people behaving in ways I both do not understand and can’t control is finally leaving for college. Looking back, it’s no wonder I was so combative in this vaguely “hall monitor way” during high school. It sucks growing up in an environment where if you don’t know exactly how to tailor your behavior and hide parts of who you are, shit gets bad. I was constantly surveilling my own behavior so I didn’t get harassed by my dad (who also had no control over his life in the sense he was too depressed to hold down a job for long). Just a constant diet of meanness and cynicism for the brain. So when I see stuff online that’s a bunch of (unhappy) gay teens being shitty and policing each other over pointless community in-drama, I feel like that particular personal history I have is one of the biggest “it gets so much better for you one day, I promise, and a lot of the b.s. you’re going through right now is coming from other teens who are profoundly messed up in a similar way — though that doesn’t excuse it” I can offer.

6. Do you usually listen to music while you work?

Usually! If I'm scraping time in the morning, sometimes it's just the news in the background, but I have listened to this playlist A LOT while writing Customs, and while I was drafting the first few chapters, I had "Familiar" and "Katie Cruel" on repeat, which is a break for my preference for putting instrumentals on while writing.

10. How do you usually keep yourself motivated?

GOOD QUESTION. I feel a little bit like I'm too far in to have any energy left in the tank, but too far away from the ending to get a boost from thinking I'm nearly there, and I've been more than a little grumpy about it of late (shoutout to @shoshiwrites and @theonlyredcar for giving me pep talks and putting up with me threatening to quit!) -

I have been listening to the two playlists I made for the fic, and, when I really can't scrape together the enthusiasm to work on the main continuity, I've been dabbling in the AUs of the AU* - the Roaring 20s continuity and the only-appeals-to-me-and-maybe-three-other-people Fallout 4 AU. for the Commonwealth!

*going through my notes app, I’ve uncovered the most half-baked Warm Bodies AU I’ve ever seen. Less than a quarter baked, really. Brace yourselves, Halloween is coming?

22. What is a spoiler you can give us for something incredibly insignificant in your WIP?

Nellie and Norrington inadvertently go stargazing in an upcoming chapter (and again, chapters later) - brace yourselves for some pretty annoying and possibly ahistorical musings about Libra - and Orion, later in the year.

24. What have you had to rewatch or look up from the show itself for this WIP so far?

But in all seriousness, I've definitely rewatched the trilogy several times to get a better handle on the timeline of the movies (and the whole mythos), which I have pretty much decided to politely ignore - I guess there's not been too much time between CotBP and DMC (a year? probably less than two?) except that there is now! I suppose Jack just bargained for 15 years instead of 13, for some of the events of DMC to be happening in the background.

I’ve tried a couple of places in NY and 2 that have stuck out to me so far are Joes pizza and bleecker st pizza. Next place I want to drive out for is pizza barn in ossipee NH
