just wanted to pop in to say i think theres a chance i may be done writing fanficiton, at least for the time being.

i have my reasons, and i hope you respect them. i just can no longer write and stick to an uploading schedule at this time in my life. thank you for your support, and for reading what i write.

i may very well pop in and say hi, or maybe even find some inspo to write again. who knows? life works in funny ways

But genuinely I'm sad NHIE is ending not only because of its personal meaning to me, but because I've met so many lovely friends/mutuals through this site from our shared obsession and have been in contact/touch with them over the past couple years, the longest I have been in with any fandom. I just want to let you know I love you all sm

So I realize at this point I may be confusing people with my opinions on canon, fanon, and headcanons, so a clarification:

1) I, personally, will viciously devour every aspect of canon once I am invested, sometimes to unhealthy lengths. I will pick it apart, cite specific scenes and sections, and eagerly gobble up any additional canon or interpretations anyone else offers

2) canon is the most limited possible experience of the material. It is always going to be small, constrained by the scope of the creators and often their publishers in various ways, and will never hit every button or answer every question

(This may be because I ask very strange questions, but it’s still true)

3) fanon is fun! It’s bigger than canon, usually a generally established set of theories built upon by fans, and often going deeper into things the canon didn’t fully flesh out. It is also not going to hit all of your personal buttons, but that is what headcanons are for.

4) Your headcanons should never constrain themselves to fanon OR canon. Think for yourself and make your own little version that DOES hit all of your buttons, and have fun with it! Just remember, your headcanon is yours; you can always share it, but everyone else’s headcanons are just as valid.

No one’s is better or worse and you don’t have to take theirs on board any more than they have to take yours

5) canon is just a scaffolding. We can use it and build on it and extrapolate all kinds of things and use different bits and pieces of canon to say “this is why I think this”, or “wouldn’t it be cool if this meant that”

The second you say “I don’t count this as canon”, you are not talking about material canon, you’re talking about your headcanons, which are far more fun! It’s just, y’know, not relevant to a discussion of actual canon unless you are the original creator

6) if you don’t like canon, ditch it. Ditto fanon. Fandom is your sandbox, you play with your toys however you want in it! Anyone who’s gonna tell you you’re playing with your dolls “wrong” probably isn’t worth listening to

Headcanon is king, with the constant reminder that it’s your king, not someone else’s. They don’t have to play with their toys your way either

OK this is 100% me being picky n a bitch n i don’t care n it’s whatever this is my blog but i think that if yr whole artistic schtick is that is that yr a teenager making art whether yht b music or paintings or writing abt the teenage experience or abt growing up n that’s all yr gonna write abt i think yr writing sucks shit n u will never progresses as a artist n u suck shit n whatever art u make will suck shit. i think the teenage experiences is not the end all be all of reality that people seem to make it out 2 be n not even just teenage years i mean like youth in general .like it’s not like yeah writing about tht part of life is not important i just think that if that’s your whole image is built upon yr youth, tht yr teenager or young adult writing about growing up yr gonna run out of material n then yr not gonna be able to write anymore n that’s stupid and lame n u suck
