Buy Casino Backlinks
Tumblr media
When it comes to online casinos, competition for top rankings is fierce. Quality backlinks can be the edge you need to stand out in search results and draw more traffic to your site. In this guide, we'll explore why buying casino backlinks can boost your SEO, how to choose quality links, and the best practices to ensure you get the most out of your investment.
Why Buy Casino Backlinks?
Backlinks are one of the key ranking factors that search engines like Google use to determine the authority and relevance of a website. In the casino industry, quality backlinks can:
Boost Domain Authority: High-authority casino backlinks can help improve your site's overall ranking potential.
Increase Organic Traffic: Links from reputable sites can drive targeted traffic that is more likely to convert.
Build Brand Trust: When users see links to your site on other reputable casino websites, they’re more likely to view your brand as trustworthy.
How to Buy Casino Backlinks Safely
Choose Reputable SourcesAvoid low-quality backlink services or automated link-building software. Look for reputable vendors who specialise in casino backlinks with a track record of positive reviews.
Focus on Relevance and AuthorityRelevance is key in any SEO strategy. Casino backlinks should come from websites related to gambling, sports betting, or other relevant niches. High-authority sites will have higher Domain Authority (DA) scores, which positively impacts SEO.
Diversify Anchor TextUsing the same anchor text for every link can raise red flags. Instead, diversify by using variations such as branded, naked URL, and generic anchor texts. This creates a more natural link profile, making your backlink strategy less susceptible to penalties.
Check for Spam ScoresBefore buying backlinks, use tools like Moz or Ahrefs to check the spam score of the referring site. High spam scores can indicate a risky site that might harm your SEO.
Types of Casino Backlinks
Understanding the various types of backlinks can help you decide which options align with your SEO goals:
Guest PostsPublishing articles on relevant sites with a backlink to your site allows you to control the content and context around the link.
Editorial LinksThese are earned links where high-quality casino websites include your link naturally within their content, typically due to the value your content offers.
Niche EditsWith niche edits, you can place a link in an already existing, high-authority article that aligns with your niche. This method often requires reaching out to webmasters directly or working through agencies specializing in casino SEO.
Best Practices for Buying Casino Backlinks
Set a Budget and Track ROIDetermine your budget for buying backlinks and prioritise high-authority sites to maximise returns. Tracking ROI will help you see if your investment brings results.
Monitor Link Placement and QualityNot all placements are equal. Links placed higher on a page, ideally within the main body of relevant content, carry more SEO value than links in the footer or sidebar.
Use Natural ContentYour link should appear in high-quality, informative content to engage readers and improve SEO impact.
Risks of Buying Casino Backlinks
While buying casino backlinks has its benefits, it’s essential to be aware of the risks:
Penalties from GoogleGoogle penalizes unnatural links and spammy backlinks. Avoid link farms, PBNs (Private Blog Networks), and sites with suspicious link profiles.
Negative SEO ImpactIf you purchase links from sites with low authority or high spam scores, it can negatively impact your rankings and domain authority.
Wasted InvestmentLow-quality links might not bring the SEO benefits you hoped for. Monitoring performance and quality is essential for a successful link-building strategy.

5 Ways Video Content Marketing Can Improve Your SEO
Tumblr media
Over the past few years, we’ve heard this question time and time again. “Can video content marketing impact SEO rankings?” The short answer is “yes, it absolutely can.” But as with anything else in the digital marketing world, you’re going to need to put some time and energy into getting it right if you want to reap the benefits.
Getting SEO benefits from video isn’t as simple as embedding a couple of YouTube videos into a web page and hoping for the best. As with any form of content, it requires investment in high-quality video content and plenty of patience and perseverance in sharing that content far and wide across the web. Let’s take a look at exactly how video marketing can boost SEO. Let’s also explore some essential video SEO best practices that will help you make the most of this exciting opportunity.
1. Video Proves Your Content’s Value to Google
Google doesn’t just take text into account when it assesses the relevancy of your web page to a specific keyword. It also checks what other media you have to offer search engine users.
A mix of text, image and video helps to show Google that your content is varied and valuable.
According to Cisco, 80% of all internet traffic will be represented by video by 2019. So there’s little wonder Google is eager to rank sites that can offer its users video content.
For content strategists, the trick is to ensure that your video content is optimized for search. That means doing video keyword research and including those keywords in your video’s meta tags.
2. Video Drives Traffic to Your Site
If you use social platforms or third party sites like YouTube or Vimeo to host your video content, you can use it as an opportunity to drive traffic back to your site. A billion hours of video is consumed on YouTube every single day. Provided that you include your URLs in your channel name and video descriptions, using YouTube is a fantastic way to expose your business to new audiences. In turn, this should improve your traffic acquisition and give your rankings a healthy boost.
Some marketers are reluctant to use third party sites to host their video because it feels as though they’re “wasting” the SEO benefits of video content on a site that isn’t their own. However, the benefits of YouTube hosting are many. For starters, it means you don’t have to slow down your own site’s speed by hosting video. You can simply embed it instead. Plus, it makes your content readily available to a highly engaged audience.
Did you know that YouTube content reaches more adults during prime-time TV hours than any television network? That alone should tell you how important this channel can become for any business.
3. Video Content Earns Links
Including URLs in your channel information or video descriptions on YouTube or other social platforms is the perfect opportunity to earn qualified referral traffic. Having video content on your website can also help with your outreach and link-building strategy on the whole. After all, if you have unique and shareable videos, that’s a compelling reason for site owners and bloggers to link to you. This holds true even if you embed videos hosted on YouTube instead of hosting them yourself.
You could include a short title card or end card with your logo and website, or you could add a small watermark on the video itself.
4. Video Boosts a Brand’s Social Presence
Social media should always play a big role in your video promotion and distribution strategy.
Not only because it’s a great way to get more eyes on your content, but because it could also give your SEO efforts a boost. There’s a strong correlation between higher shares on social media and higher positions in the SERPs.
Video is huge on social media. A video on Facebook gets 135% more engagement than a photo.
5. Video Marketing Can Improve Your Conversion Rate
Shoppers are nearly 2 times more likely to make a purchase after viewing product videos than those who don’t. This is a pretty clear sign that video can drive improved conversions.
If you’re already onto a winning SEO strategy, it makes sense to get more value out of it by using video to boost your sales.
This doesn’t just go for eCommerce businesses, either. According to Google, 50% of people seek out product videos before they visit a store. By incorporating video marketing into your SEO strategy, you can drive customers to your brick and mortar locations.
Final Thoughts
As you can clearly see, video marketing has its place in the pantheon of SEO tactics and strategies.
Many of the impacts are rather indirect, much like social marketing. But the bottom line is that an impact is an impact all the same.
So follow the above best practices, embrace video marketing, and get to work! As you head into 2021, video marketing will be a more and more important avenue for brands to earn online prominence.
Need help creating engaging content for your next videos? If yes then it is best suited to connect with the experts offering SEO services in Chandigarh.

Comparison of Top 6 Cloud APIs for Computer Vision
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What is computer vision?
Nowadays, computer vision (CV) is one of the most widely used fields of machine learning. The main task of computer vision is to understand the contents of the image. It is used almost in all spheres of the modern technology such as image and video classification, content filtering, security, face detection which most probably resides in your smartphone’s camera app these days.
The computer vision field evolves continuously. Building a model for visual recognition is both difficult and time-consuming task. Fortunately, there are a lot of ready-to-use solutions on the market. They are developed by the various companies like Google, Microsoft, IBM, Amazon, and others. These solutions are namely provided as APIs which you may integrate your apps with.
In this article, we are going to make a brief overview of these Cloud APIs capabilities.
Google
Google is one of the most renowned companies in the fields of AI and machine learning. It provides lots of cloud computing services as APIs for computer vision. The Vision API helps your application to understand what is in the image, classifying the content into the known categories and providing the labels.
It is also capable of detecting landmarks — e.g. buildings, monuments, natural structures, or logos, performing character recognition that supports a wide variety of languages. The facial detection allows detecting a face with the person’s emotion and headwear. Unfortunately, there is no support for facial recognition. On top of that, you may use the API to search for the similar images on the web and to filter explicit or violent content.
Google also assures the Video Intelligence to perform video analysis, classification, and labeling. This allows searching through the videos based on the extracted metadata. It is also possible to detect the change of the scene and filter the explicit content.
All these features are available through a REST API for easy integration.
Microsoft
Microsoft Azure is another cloud computing service. Azure provides several computer vision services. They are wrapped as different APIs — Computer Vision API for general purpose CV tasks, Face API for face detection and recognition, Content Moderator for filtering, and some more which are yet in Preview status. Let’s take a closer look.
The Computer Vision API allows classifying the image content by providing a comprehensive list of tags and attempting to build a natural language description of the scene. Also, the API is capable of recognizing the celebrities and landmarks.
Another feature is Optical Character Recognition (OCR) of printed text and as a preview. The OCR for the handwritten texts is also available, but yet only for the English language.
The Face API is used to detect the faces in the images and retrieve the bounding rectangles and facial features like emotional state, gender, age, facial hair, smile score and facial landmarks. One more feature is Face Recognition which helps to understand who the person is matching against a database. This feature may be useful for security. Another one is similar to face finding, which finds a list of faces which look similar to the input face.
The Content Moderator could be used for video and image filtering. The unwanted content is filtered using machine learning based classifiers and optical character recognition.
The Video Indexer and Custom Vision Service are yet available as a preview. The Video Indexer is used for insight extraction from the videos. It is capable of sentiment analysis, keyword and metadata extraction, and people detection. The Custom Vision Service allows creating fine-tuned computer vision models for a specific use case. This service is capable of incremental learning — your model will improve over time with each image supplied.
Amazon
The Amazon Rekognition is a Computer Vision service developed by Amazon. It has deep learning at its core and seamless integration with other Amazon services. It is provided as an API for both images and videos. Rekognition can understand what objects and people are in the scene and what is happening. It may work as a content filter for adult content. In addition, it can understand the text in the image.
One of Rekognition’s powers is the ability to detect, recognize and identify people. It is capable of accurate identification of a person in a photo and video using a private dataset of face images. Or, it can recognize famous people in your imagery. It is also able to analyze the sentiment, age, eye- and headwear presence, facial hair and other features. For the videos, it is possible to track the change of these features over time. The Rekognition allows tracking people along the video even if they turn away from the camera or leave the scene.
Clarifai
Clarifai is another comparatively young company that provides Computer Vision as a service. Clarifai is solely working with CV having lots of different features available. Each specific task is solved by the corresponding model. Some of the models, yet, are in Beta state and improve continually. For example, there is a model that detects faces in the image. There is a peculiar model for each of the following parameters: age, gender, ethnicity prediction, or celebrities recognition.
The General model is the most versatile. It is able to understand present objects in the image, the theme and even more. It may be used for any image analysis. You can also build your own model and train it on your images for the best results.
Clarifai also provides some narrow-use models like pattern identification, wedding-related, travel-related model, dominant color detection model. There is a model for cloth and accessory identification, another one for food identification, and for logo or brand names.
There are two models for embeddings of either faces or general items. They are based on Face detection and General models respectively. The embeddings allow taking low-level control of the machine learning process.
There is also a model to check if the image contains unsafe content like drugs or nudity.
IBM Watson Visual Recognition
IBM Watson Visual Recognition does not have that many models bundled in, but it allows building a custom one. The default one is a general model to understand what objects are in the image, identify the color theme. Another one is for the face detection (not recognition), one is for food detection, and the OCR is in private beta at the moment. The API also allows you to export the model in Core ML (Apple iOS) compatible format.
Kairos
Kairos is all about Face Detection. With the help of their products, it is possible to detect faces in either photos or videos, to identify and verify people. Via Kairos, you may detect the emotional state, age group (e.g. child, young, adult, senior), the gender of a person, facial features like eyes, eyebrows, etc.
Kairos is available either as a Cloud API or as SDK for offline integrations.
Overall comparison
For your convenience, we prepared a table with a quick overall comparison of the most popular Cloud APIs for computer vision highlighting their main features.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Updated: August 2018
Conclusions
There are many different cloud APIs for computer vision on the market. In addition, this field is under rapid development. In the article, we made a brief overview of the various providers. At first sight, all of them provide fairly similar capabilities, yet some put an emphasis on face recognition like Kairos, or on building custom models like IBM and Azure.
However, if you need to accomplish some very specific task, you still have to build the model using Deep Learning frameworks yourself.

Mistakes big companies made with their logos and how they fixed them
Logos are a must-have for any brand. They visually communicate a brand’s unique selling point (USP) and are responsible for communicating a brand’s values to the public. Yet, sometimes even the biggest brands fail with their logo designs.
Let’s take a look at some infamous logo design fails, and their consequences.
Logo mistakes made by famous companies and how they solved them —
Google
Google is famous for innovating the online world. They also aren’t afraid to adjust their logo every time their designers consider it has a flaw. Google’s latest rebranding took place in 2015 and introduced even interactive branding elements. You can dig into Google and other company logo stories on LogoRealm.
Issue:
There was a brief time in Google’s logo history when it resembled its main competitor, Yahoo. Similar to Yahoo, the Google logo featured an exclamation mark. Since there weren’t too many search engines back in October 1998, the resemblance was too visible.
Solution:
Graphic designers removed the exclamation mark in May 1999, only one year after the initial change. They also decreased shadows, and slightly changed the color hue.
Google continues to surprise as its latest rebranding campaign includes a intentional mistake—or original approach—of the letters’ construction. The e is tilted, instead of being horizontal. However, this intentional mistake distinguishes Google as risk takers, and has also inspired Lenovo to choose a tilted e as well.
Gap
via Gap
Gap is a retail brand which has managed to survive and be successful thanks to affordable product pricing and brand consistency. However, their logo journey reveals that when your customers know you well, you should be careful when introducing them to different visuals than they are used to.
Issue:
Gap decided to change their logo back in 2010. Having been known for their original logo, the public responded negatively to the new look. Moreover, according to an Ipsos Observer study, 80% of Gap’s customers didn’t even notice that the brand changed its logo. The new logo was simple and shy, and didn’t compare to the original design.
Solution:
Six days after the logo change, Gap returned to its original, bold and attractive logo. This was a quick and costly change for Gap, costing the brand a total of $100 million.
Marriott Hotels
via Marriott
The Marriott Hotels brand logo was supposed to convey exclusivity and carry a unified symbol which looks good on buildings but also on products such as shampoos or pillows.
Issue:
Somehow, Marriott lost its idea somewhere along the way and ended up with a logo which repeated the symbolic M. It needed a simpler approach.
Solution:
Marriott’s new signature logo was launched in 2014 and impressed the branding world. Marriott pushed its M symbol in front and managed to simplify its message. Although you can still find the old logo on the hotel chain’s website, you can enjoy the new Marriott logo and monogram almost everywhere else.
NASA
via NASA
NASA has three logos that are visible on its website. However, NASA is more than a brand as it represents science and global visibility. Its meatball logo is known all over the world and sums up everything you know about NASA. The term meatball, which is also used to describe a specific landing system, stuck with this logo because of its round shape.
Issue:
Between 1975 and 1992, NASA showed off a logo which was meant to be simple and modern. The brand even received an Award of Design Excellence (the Presidential Design Awards). Regardless of the award, the logo managed to earn plenty of criticism even from enthusiasts. Why? Because the logo only consisted of continuous red letters and lost all symbols relating to science.
Solution:
The modern NASA logo earned the nickname “worm” from critics. Shortly after the negative reactions, the red logo disappeared from buildings and even movies. The NASA homepage now features their infamous meatball logo.
Starbucks
via Starbucks
Starbucks enjoys so much brand recognition that having their name on their logo seems redundant. Everyone recognizes the ubiquitous Starbucks siren and connects it to the brand.
Issue:
Starbucks released its famous text-less logo in 2011. However, they made a wrong move in 2008 and released a line of vintage coffee cups with their original logo. Shortly after, Starbucks ended up with complaints from a Christian group because the siren was naked, which any child or teenager who walked into their coffee shops would see.
Solution:
There was a time when logos were handmade and had so many details. Those times are gone. Starbucks never attempted a retro campaign again.
Failed logo changes that were never adjusted —
Not all brands choose to adjust or remove logos which were criticized or even satirized. You may recognize some on products you regularly use. Let’s discover!
via Pepsi
You might never look at the Pepsi logo the same way after seeing this viral drawing by Lawrence Yang. However horrible it is, Pepsi never responded to the drawing nor did they change their logo.
via Olympic.org
2012 London Olympic Games had a lot of trouble with the above logo. There were two types of public responses after seeing the logo. Apparently, the logo resembles a funny sexual encounter between the Simpson family couple. Also, critics state that the logo spells the word Zion. Since the Olympic Games have passed and lost their relevance, they didn’t bother to change the logo.
via Animal Planet
Animal Planet had one major rebranding campaign which the public just couldn’t take. A few years ago, the brand lost its globe and elephant symbolism for a customized font spelling the TV channel’s name. However, one letter is sideways, making it hard to read and confusing. The logo almost resembles an algebraic symbol. Animal Planet’s representatives never changed this version of their logo.
via Reebok
Reebok disappointed its customers after being bought out by Adidas and subsequently changing their logo. They went from professional athletics to a cross-fit audience with an unwearable logo. The new logo carries the Delta symbol and is more suitable for banks rather than a sports company. Customers even forgot that the old Reebok logo resembled Nike and Adidas.
via Oxford Dictionaries
Oxford Dictionaries had a disappointing rebranding campaign, despite its fame as an authority in the field of education. The new Oxford Dictionaries logo resembles the Beats by Dre logo so much that it has received more criticism than congratulations. The above logo is still in use on the brand’s website.
via Instagram
Instagram is a successful brand that has a place on nearly everyone’s smartphone. Its most recent and only logo design failure, however, was somehow overseen. The change coincided with Facebook’s acquisition of Instagram. There was a wave of disappointment when the vintage camera was removed from the Instagram brand and replaced with an ombre square suggesting a camera. However, disappointment turned into acceptance and Instagram retains millions of users around the world.
Designing a company logo —
It takes courage and experience to pitch for and design a major company’s logo. Some of the above logo failures were revised, others were simply ignored. Most brands probably hope for their failures to be forgotten. Like it or not, their ups and downs remain in the history of graphic design forever.

When Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin were headed to Nevada’s Burning Man festival in August of 1998, they wanted users and employees to know they wouldn’t be at the search engine’s helm for a while. The Ph.D. students at Stanford University decided to replace the second ‘O’ in Google’s homepage logo with a stick figure resembling the festival’s logo.
“It was a little bit of a joke,” Jessica Yu, the Google Doodle team lead, tells TIME. “It has definitely evolved a lot since then.”
What began as a joke became Google Doodles that celebrate and honor holidays, people and issues worldwide, now an important venture for the tech giant.
Google The first Doodle, circa 1998.
Back when Brin and Page posted the Burning Man design, it was less than a week before Google was incorporated as a company on September 4, 1998. It was two years until they used a prototype-Doodle again. But this time, rather than an out-of-office message, the design celebrated France’s Bastille Day on July 14, 2000. Dennis Hwang, an intern at the time, was tasked with creating the design.
Hwang became the chief designer for Doodles, creating about 50 per year, according to an interview with Stanford’s alumni magazine. Hwang has since moved onto equally impressive projects as a vice president of visual and interactive design at Niantic, where he designed Pokémon Go.
GoogleGoogle celebrated the Rugby World Cup 2019 Opening Day with a doodle on Sept. 20, 2019.
“In the early years, it was a controversial thing to do,” Hwang told TIME in a previous interview, of altering the company’s logo. “If you read any kind of corporate marketing or branding textbook, the one thing they tell you is to make your corporate branding consistent no matter what. But Larry and Sergey said, ‘Why not? We should have fun with this.'”
Hwang continued creating Doodles for popular holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas — leading to one of the program’s best-known animations, the Santa Tracker. The Santa Tracker game allows users worldwide to keep tabs on “Santa” as he delivers gifts on Christmas Eve, inspired by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD)’s version, which began in the 1950s. In 2005, Hwang designed icons for the tracker to use alongside the Google Earth-led project. More than one million people tracked Santa with Google that year, according to the company, so the annual tradition continues.
Courtesy of Google2018’s Santa Tracker
Google does not publicly reveal view counts for all Doodles, so it’s hard to track just how popular the animations are. But the Google Doodle team is now comprised of a few dozen artists, managers, engineers and other employees who work towards a diverse range of designs, Yu says.
The team certainly has extended its animations beyond just Christmas. A Doodle in March honored Japanese inventor Seiichi Miyake, who created Tenji, or tactile, blocks to help visually impaired people navigate public areas. “With every Doodle we want to surprise and delight our users,” Yu says, “so it’s important that we celebrate a wide range of people and topics.”
GoogleGoogle honors Seiichi Miyake with colorful Google Doodle
Doodle techniques have also continued to evolve over the years. A September 2018 Doodle honoring Fred Rogers used stop motion animation, while last year’s Halloween Doodle was a multiplayer video game that allowed users to play with others. This year’s July 4 Google Doodle featured an animated backyard baseball game.
Novice designers are welcome to participate, too. In 2008, the company formalized that process in one way, beginning a competition for kindergarten to twelfth grade students in the U.S. The winner of the annual Doodle for Google contest gets their Doodle displayed on Google’s homepage, as well as scholarship money and “tech packages,” according to Google. The company holds separate competitions for countries throughout the world.
Andrew Lipovsky—NBC/NBCU Photo Bank/Getty ImagesJimmy Fallon and Doodle for Google National Winner Arantza Peña Popo during the Google Doodle reveal on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on August 12, 2019.
This year’s theme was “When I grow up, I hope…” and 222,000 students applied, Yu said in Google’s winner announcement post. Arantza Peña Popo won for her Doodle, “Once you get it, you give back,” a piece of art showing generations of the women in her family. Jimmy Fallon, who was one of the year’s contest judges, had her on The Tonight Show to celebrate her win. “When I grow up, I hope to care for my mom as much as she cared for me my entire life,” the winner told Fallon on his show in August. “My mom has done so much for me and sacrificed a lot.”
The Doodle team also promoted that message of empowerment on March 8 for International Women’s Day. With an interactive slideshow designed by women from around the world, 13 women leaders from different countries shared their perspectives on feminism and the future. “While each quote told a unique story,” Yu says, “they touched on universal themes, reminding us of how much we often have in common, even if we speak a different language or have very different backgrounds.”
In addition to having new, different voices on the website through Doodle for Google, Yu says the team also encourages diversity of voices by having local managers based internationally. Someone in this on-the-ground position acts as a “cultural consultant,” and is typically from the country they’re representing.
Google
Whether a Doodle is deployed in twenty countries’ Google homepages or just a few, some of the most touching ones honor those who have passed. A Feb. 7, 2015 Doodle was created in honor of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s 148th birthday. For Maya Angelou‘s 90th birthday on April 4, 2018, an animated video featured the poet’s writing. Some lines were read by Angelou’s own voice while others were voiced by artists inspired by the late author, including Alicia Keys, Laverne Cox and Oprah Winfrey.
“Often, Doodles give people the opportunity to connect, online or off, over memories of someone or something that has been meaningful in their lives,” Yu says. “Occasionally the Doodle itself will even facilitate connection.”

Twitter chief executive Jack Dorsey faces two hearings on Wednesday
When Silicon Valley companies once again appear in front of the US Senate on Wednesday, there will be one major absentee: Google. The Senate Intelligence Committee wanted to hear from Sundar Pichai, Google’s chief executive, or his boss Larry Page, the chief executive of Google’s parent firm, Alphabet. Barring a dramatic, last-minute change of plan, the BBC understands neither will attend. It would mark the first time a technology firm has refused to comply with the wishes of Congress since the wide-reaching inquiries into misinformation and meddling began in the wake of the 2016 election. Google had instead hoped to send Kent Walker, one of its top lawyers. The offer was abruptly shut down by the committee. Its vice chairman, the Democratic Senator Mark Warner, said an empty chair would be left out to represent Google’s non-appearance. Eventually, senators may issue a subpoena, forcing an appearance under the threat of prosecution. “If Google thinks we’re just going to go away, they’re sadly mistaken,” said Senator Warner, speaking to Wired magazine. The hearing, scheduled to begin at 09:30 (13:30 GMT), is entitled “Foreign Influence Operations’ Use of Social Media Platforms”. As well as Google, Twitter and Facebook have been called to appear. @jack leaps to Twitter’s defenceTwitter will be represented by its chief executive, Jack Dorsey, while Facebook is sending its chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg. It will be the first time either executive has faced a congressional committee. Mr Dorsey will also appear, alone, in a hearing on Wednesday afternoon looking specifically at transparency on his platform. He is expected to strongly oppose the suggestion that conservative voices are being silenced on Twitter – a growing claim from the US political right, one that has not been backed up with reliable data. “Conservative voices have a strong presence on Twitter,” he is expected to say.

Senator Mark Warner says Google is “mistaken” if they think the Senate “will just go away”
“For example, in 2017, there were 59.5 million tweets about Make America Great Again or MAGA. According to the Pew Research Center, people on Twitter used #MAGA an average of 205,238 times per day from Election Day 2016 through May 1, 2018. It was the third most Tweeted hashtag in 2017.” Where Mr Dorsey may come under fire, however, is over his decision not to ban conspiracy theorist Alex Jones from Twitter, instead giving him what was described as a “time out”. It was later reported by the Wall Street Journal that Mr Dorsey had overruled staff who had decided to ban Mr Jones altogether – though Twitter later described that suggestion as “totally false”. In short, the question facing Mr Dorsey on Wednesday is to what extent his own politics and power influences how Twitter conducts itself. Sandberg in the spotlightFacebook’s chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg is sufficiently famous to satisfy the Senate’s demand for a big company name at its hearing. It means chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, who appeared here in April, can sit this one out.

Sheryl Sandberg will represent Facebook at the hearing – she is the firm’s chief operating officer
On Tuesday Ms Sandberg spent the day in private meetings with members of the Senate Intelligence Committee to discuss the issues. In Wednesday morning’s hearing, Facebook will go over familiar territory – Ms Sandberg will try to draw attention to its expanding workforce, and share statistics showing its efforts to block millions of suspicious accounts automatically. The company may also share details about its so-called “war room” – a division of specialists solely working on policing content that may be wrongly targeting US voters as they prepare to cast their votes. Based on her testimony – released on Tuesday by Facebook – she will offer little new information to the Senate about the company’s efforts, other than to update some statistics relating to the amount of content being removed. But one important moment may arise when Ms Sandberg argues that Facebook needs more help to solve the crisis, turning the demand to “do more” back on the US government. “The threat we face is not new,” she is expected to say. “America has always confronted attacks from opponents who wish to undermine our democracy. What is new are the tactics they use. “That means it’s going to take everyone – including industry, governments, and experts from civil society – working together to stay ahead.” This may be Ms Sandberg’s first hearing, but she’s no stranger to Washington politics. Before working at the social network she was chief of staff at the US Treasury. A brewing crisis for GoogleGoogle’s Mr Walker submitted a written testimony for the hearing, despite the fact he will not be attending the session. In a blog post he said he would be providing private briefings to senators, but did not address the row over his seniority. The affair risks becoming a public relations crisis for Google, which just last week was doing its best to bat back claims from President Donald Trump that it was censoring conservative news outlets in its search results. The White House did not provide any evidence to support the president’s complaints, but the topic may well come up at Wednesday’s hearing. “I don’t know if it’s because [Page] wants to avoid being asked about those things or because they think they’re so important and so powerful that they don’t need to provide congressional testimony,” said Republican Senator Marco Rubio, speaking to the Washington Post. He also told the newspaper: “They should be careful with that. When a company gets too big to become accountable, they become a monopoly.” A looming threat of regulationThe question of new regulation designed to control the powers of technology companies has been a recurring theme since the firms first appeared here to talk about this issue, almost a year ago to the day. Any regulation concocted in the wake of these hearings would likely end up being enforced by the US telecoms regulator, the Federal Communications Commission. Ahead of the hearings – which the FCC is not a part of – its chairman Ajit Pai criticised what he sees as a serious lack of transparency among the tech giants. “The public deserves to know more about how these companies operate,” he wrote in a blog post on Tuesday.“And we need to seriously think about whether the time has come for these companies to abide by new transparency obligations.“After all, just as is the case with respect to broadband providers, consumers need accurate information in order to make educated choices about whether and how to use these tech giants’ platforms.” Also under scrutiny will be the ability of Congress to competently probe the tech bosses. During April’s hearing with Mark Zuckerberg, many members were mocked for asking basic, easily-ducked questions of the Facebook chief executive. Senator Warner has said he is hopeful questions this time round will be better. He suggested his colleagues on the committee had “done their homework”. _____Follow Dave Lee on Twitter @DaveLeeBBCDo you have more information about this or any other technology story?
