Bubby dragged a hand down his own face. “I don't care what your name is, we don't need to strip you in our foyer. Doesn't matter if there’s an undersuit, it’s– this isn't– there's a time and place!” 

Gordon sputtered. “I mean–! I’m probably not naked? They didn’t– they wouldn’t build the game with a naked Gordon Freeman under this. Or a clothed one. Shit, I– please don’t pull on that, I don’t want to find out if I’m just a mass of missing texture under this.”

Coomer rested his hands on his hips. “Well, I highly doubt they lovingly modeled the nude body of a flabby old cybernetic scientist, but I’ve been able to get into my pajamas at night all the same.”

hanging out with Benrey has its ups and downs for Gordon, but there's a weird comfort in not having to worry about keeping up appearances. Like with the rest of the team, if he needs to go AFK, he'd either unload his character model completely or painstakingly arrange himself on the ground so he can set down the headset and controllers to look like he's lying down and not twisting in inhuman ways

but with Benrey it's like

"Hey before we start the next game, I'm gonna go to the bathroom. You mind if I leave my body here?"

"go piss girl"

"Awesome, thanks." And then his head just folds into his torso and crumples like a pile of laundry. Benrey probably even copies him

does gordon have any backups in mind in case something goes wrong? i know that making copies of the ais is absolutely not on the table, but what if there's a housefire? the computer is corrupted? etc? does gordon just accept they die? I mean, there's no backups for people irl so

These are the things that run through his head at night and come up at therapy. He's terrified of something going wrong and being responsible for his friends' deaths, but he could also say the same thing about his son, and he's not gonna clone Joshua "just in case". Mortality is never easy to accept. Also Bubby and Coomer would beat him up if he duplicated them.

Since the AIs can go into online games, it stands to reason that they could escape into the internet in case of an emergency. Imagine Gordon conducting a fire drill and everyone downloading themselves away to the safe haven of critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV

Do you think Streamman!Gordon would do something like the A.I.Ron Chef stream where the Science Team makes up recipes for him to attempt to cook? I feel like that'd be something up their collective alley.

Definitely. Now, on one hand, it SHOULD be less hazardous to his health since the recipes are being generated by thinking, feeling individuals with a sense of logic and respect for his well-being.

However. Doctor Coomer has long since lost perspective on what is considered edible to those without a bionic digestive tract, Bubby has a scientific mind and a stupid adventurous streak, Tommy drinks soda for lunch, Benrey licked a dead body at least once, and Darnold once made Gordon drink something that had 1. never been tested on humans and 2. melted lab safety equipment to the point where he could only keep it in a heavy duty barrel.

He might die.

I really enjoy your AU and how it expands on Gordon's relationship with the Science Team. It's so cool to watch him go from dreading the next 3 hours / 17 hours / 2 days of being stuck with these people to needing Fang to remind him not to die while he works to bring them back from the void.

Then later he's fallen asleep at a movie night because he's so comfortable with his best friends that live in his desktop and tried to kill him before. So they tuck him in, but only to show they care. The real Gordon is on a higher plane with the computer. He impersonated Dr Peanut and killed Benrey. He could turn off their world. Their voices echo in his head because he loves them so much.

The Science Team caused their Cthulhu to have a psychotic episode.

Bubby, first day after reading Gordon's debrief and apology letter: oh my god I'm so fucking sorry. I wouldn't have pulled those pranks if I had known your psychological situation

Bubby, day 300 after reading Gordon's letter: every Lovecraft character is a weak bitch, we told an elder god his arm fell off and it worked
