// post 007: precision vs. interference
Not everything in process is fractured.
For every moment of blur, there’s a diagram. For every rupture, a rendered schematic. These spreads counter the noise with clean vectors and cool typography—borrowing the tone of instruction manuals and audiology guides.
It’s all part of the duality: Modern cochlear diagrams beside hacked bitmap filters. Analogue signal charts beside distorted screenshots.
Precision vs. perception.
A zine made of both noise and signal. Both glitch and clarity.

EVALUATION
“Graphic notation” is the first mini project of unit13. Graphic notation is the way representing music through symbols and visual imagery and languages, we have been put in groups of 4 by the tutors to create an abstract music visualiser for a piece of music by musician and producer “Romo Weeks” and the deadline for this project was four weeks. We work together through teams and group chat to deliver this music visualiser.
The concept of our music visualiser was liquid forms and colour through out the projects we shared out research, inspirations, and experiments with each other and gave each other feed backs on what we think of it and how we can use them. The music research shown by our team were of artists and composers such as Wadada leo and Brian Eno some other research that we done were of music videos and abstract music visualisers that we though were interesting and engaging.
For most of this project my job was making what we needed to develop our visualiser I did jobs like buying ink and filming clips for out visualiser or coming up with an abstract painting and see if it could be used in the project or not. I was also in charge of editing for the most part and I was sort of like a builder in the regards that the group would do the theory and sketches and they would share their ideas and I would make those ideas as best as I could.
One of my biggest inspiration for this project was one of my favourite musicians “Mehrad” and a clip for his new album on Instagram, after that I pitched the idea to my teammates, and they all agreed that it would be an good idea to work towards the visualise with that idea in mind and we all started looking for ways to make that come through like researching or filming clips using ink and watercolour. As much as I enjoyed doing this project I am not sure that I want to go in a directing of editing or working with video because of how time consuming it is and how heavy the work load can be for a 30 second clip for example, the whole editing part took me around 12 hours not thanks to the constant freezing of my computer but I managed to meet the deadline and present our video for our class and tutors which they seem to enjoy very much, and in my opinion our visualiser was the most engaging and professionally done out of all the other we had a beginning and an end and we went with the flow and beat of the music and that really paid off. for me one of the biggest challenges for making the video was making in go with the beat of the music and making sure how long of those changes would last it was a lot of trail and error with the position of the clips and their durations and I had to make sure that it would look good, and it looked in time. More than ever for this project I used my skills as a musician and tried hard to understand the different sections of music and the intend of the musician and it teaches me in some way how I can mix the two and create art using my skills both as a musician and a designer.
Overall I am satisfied with how it turned our and all that we did to get there, there was some communication issues from time to time with the team but at the end we all help each other in one way or another to deliver the final product, one thing I want to take from this project is optimising work flow and organizing my assets while I work on a project but I really liked how the visualiser turned out and if I had to change something about it I would change some inconsistency in the footage and colours and maybe bits here and there that did not go with the beat.

(This was another one I have very stupidly deleted. It’s supposed to go before our Graphic Notation presentation pretty far back on my blog. And I also have no Idea what the third one was that I deleted so haha guess I’ll just cry??)
We then sent the patterns to Abid and had a group call, just us four, so that we could see what he was working on and also provide some feedback and Ideas.

Presentation of our music visualisers (Monday+Tuesday presentations).
Feedback on our groups work:
they seem to have like the concept of how we did they visualiser and they agreed that it went to the beat of music, they also seem to like how we worked with different clips and how we changed the colour and repeated them.

About an hour before we were supposed to show the class our finished video, I noticed Sarah had said we were going to PRESENT our work. Everyone, including myself thought that we were supposed to make a presentation and we were all panicked trying to make one. I quickly chucked the slides together on PowerPoint and when I was on the last slide, the first group presented and Sarah said that we weren't supposed to make an actual presentation. I think two or three of the other groups had also scrambled to make one so we were all just sadly laughing about it now.  I decided I’d just finish it off and present it anyway. It went okay. People liked Rahem’s brother’s glow stick shenanigans, and also the experimentation I did with the water droplet on my phone camera zooming in and out on my light bulb. They said it fit with the music enough. I didn’t screenshot the call because I am just rubbish at remembering things apparently, I guess because of all the panic I just forgot. One of the other groups who also used water did an amazing job and a beautiful visualizer. I think they splashed paint into a sink? bath? filled with water and had the camera filming from underneath. It was awesome.
