De Tocht Der Koeien \\ The Journey of Cows | MxCaptain

As another gift as part of Fandom Trumps Hate 2023, I did a bind of MxCaptain's fic De Tocht Der Koeien and its English translation The Journey of Cows! Both fics are contained within this volume, one after the other.

The cover and spine are both stenciled with silver fabric paint, and the cover has black bookcloth glued atop black-and-gray hand-marbled paper (not marbled by myself). This is, like my previous book, a sewn board binding, and the ends of the boards are painted black.

The half-title page precedes the title spread, which has a full-spread painting. The edges have been trimmed (very carefully, using a utility knife, which I only attempt with thin books like this one because it is generally very perilous to trim this way) to bring the book down to A6 size and to get the white space away from the edges of the spread.

So something I want to know for what you and TC96, how do you guys make your own backgrounds?

Well for me I solely use Ibispaint X. TC uses CSP and I think Photoshop sometimes, so she has access to a lot of professional, downloadable brushes, whereas I make due with the brushes Ibis has accessible....because it's free XD

For the forest and landscape bgs I use leaf and grass brushes, for trees there's a particular detail brush for tree bark that I downloaded the QR code for. But uhh...yeah for bgs the brushes really do all the work lol, that and I look at images of forests for reference.

The references for what Rev and Ace were wearing in Oversight chapter 3 will be in another post due to this one being a bit larger than I expected.

Okay, here's the map of Loonatics HQ on planet Blanc that I'm using for my Magnetic Attraction series:

As you can see, I used a lot of abbreviations, 1 because I wasn't actually planning on showing anyone this, and 2 because writing letters with a mouse in MS Paint is hard. I'll go over what they are but it's going under the cut so I don't flood people's dashes.

-Northwest corner:

QR: Quiet Room. A completely soundproofed room for meditation, concentration, and relaxation. Frequented most by Ace and Lexi.

PD: Patio Door.

GR: Gaming Room. A large space filled with many fun things to do. In the center is a circular table perfect for board games that is rarely used thanks to every member of the team being too competitive to play them without causing wanton destruction.

LR: Living Room. A more preferable area for movie marathons and gaming sessions than the lounge thanks to it being away from major walking areas.

DR: Dining Room. Mostly used for special occasions as everyone on the team prefers to eat in the living room or lounge.

K: Kitchen. Frequented most by Slam.

DS: Dry Storage. Where dry food is stored in bulk.

F (light blue): Walk in Freezer. Where frozen food is stored in bulk.

F (azure blue): Walk in Fridge. ...You get it.

-Southwest corner:

B: Bathroom. Each team member has their own personal bathroom.

C: Closet. Each team member has their own walk in closet.

A, D, S, L, R, and T: The rooms of Ace, Duck, Slam, Lexi, Rev, and Tech respectively. All their rooms, including their closets and bathrooms, are soundproofed for everyone and especially Lexi's sake.

S: Staircase. Leads to the roof.

SC: Storage Closet. Filled with various supplies somewhat relevant to the west wing of the base.

CE: Courtyard Entrance/Exit.

P: Pool. A decently sized swimming pool. Frequented most (and never cleaned) by Duck.

CR: Changing Room. Place to change in and out of swimsuits with privacy.

LR: Laundry Room.

FE: Front Entrance/Exit.

-Central area and courtyard:

St: Storage. For supplies relevant to the entire base.

S: Stairs. Leads to the basement floors and roof.

BE: Back Entrance/Exit. Main exit to get the the outdoor field, driving course, and running track. Tech can sometimes be found there testing any of his inventions that are too dangerous to test inside.

B: Bathroom. A bathroom in the central area that's more accessible to visitors. Soundproofed for Lexi's sake.

GS: Gadget Storage. Where all of the team's most frequently used gadgets are stored so they can be easily grabbed before missions.

ME: Main Entrance. The preferred and most scenic way to enter HQ.

L: Lounge. A simple setup with three sofas, a coffee table, and TV. The preferred place to relax and chat with other team members between missions due to it's central location and proximity to multiple exits. The TV area indents a gentle slope leading to a great view of the courtyard.

UPG: Underground Parking Garage. The entrance and exit to the parking area under the main floor.

Courtyard: In the center of the entire base is a courtyard featuring evenly trimmed grass, multiple topiary trees, and decorative fountains. Nicely paved walkways lead over the driveways leading into and out of the parking garage.

-Northeast corner:

GD: Garage Door. Exits directly from the garage onto the driving course.

G: Garage. Where Tech makes most of his vehicles and larger inventions. Has exits to the driving course, parking garage, and roof. Has a security mode that stops Duck from teleporting in and soundproofs the room to prevent Lexi from getting a migraine while Tech is working.

Lab: Tech's laboratory, complete with incomprehensible machinery, too many monitors, and a safety shower. Contains the same anti-Duck shielding and pro-Lexi soundproofing security mode as the garage. As expected, Tech practically lives there and sometimes has to be coaxed out with food and coffee.

-Southeast corner:

CE: Courtyard Entrance/Exit.

S: Stairs. Leads to the roof.

SC: Storage Closet. Filled with supplies somewhat relevant to the east wing of the base.

WR: Weight Room. Filled with plenty of weights and exercise machines to keep the team in fighting condition.

VT CR: Virtual Trainer Control Room. Room for controlling the virtual trainer.

VT: Virtual Trainer. Combat training room that uses highly advanced virtual reality technology. Definitely has never been used for at-home vacations or VR video games. Never.

FE: Front Entrance/Exit.

SH: Sparring hall. Classic sparring hall complete with training weapons and an inbuilt speaker system for playing action music.

-Not featured on the map:

Underground Parking Garage: Where the team parks their vehicles, all of which were created by Tech.

2nd basement: Basement one level under the parking garage. Not much is notable on this floor except for a storage room that's been abandoned due to the door being broken. Tech would normally fix it, but it slips his mind in favor of more important projects.

Roof: Level on top of the main floor. Mainly used by Tech for testing aerial vehicles and drones, but is sometimes used by other team members for sunbathing and stargazing.

Back Outdoor Area: The area outside the base to the north that features a driving course for testing Tech's vehicles, a running track for outdoor exercise, and an open field for outdoor activities or Tech's more dangerous experiments.

Surrounding Security Shield: A fancy high tech barrier surrounding the entire base that keeps out intruders. Looks like a normal high class fence when not actively stopping people from breaking in. The front entrance features a security check-in that purely uses remote or manually inputted codes for entry, rather than the optional facial scanners that Loonatics Tower had on Acmetropolis.

I definitely put more effort into planning out the Loonatics' Blanc HQ than I probably should've, but, whatever I guess. It was fun enough to do, and I hope literally anyone cares so this entire post wasn't a waste of time.

WEEK 5: ECO MATERIALITY

The Gratitude Bench and View

The idea of Refurbishing elements of the park to make it more appealing to passers by was evident, especially in benches such as the Gratitude Bench where you could sit and look at the vast view of both the park and the city. The sun hits the hill perfectly and the breeze from the top does help one contemplate. This is even improved with user friendly signs which instruct people how to meditate with an added QR code that lets them listen to it if preffered. Overall this spot in the park is scenic and I am able to understant with all the sensory combinations of nature why it would be such a desired space to give thanks.

The Variety of Trees, This Tree Formation in Particular.

This particular tree struck me in the park, mainly because of the formation of its trunk and the branches. I noted that this tree resembled the form of two people interwined, as if they were in an embrace. In terms of artistic qualities, this could lend itself to a work that comments on love and relationships or even relate to some kind of story or folklore. It was because of this that it particularly inspired me, this random tree that we stumbled upon holds some kind of significance that could be explored in narrative form or through other visual language. This was not the only tree I noted, there were multiple that I found intruiging in the way they stood or their shape.

Proposed Artwork

This tree was the site of my proposed artwork. Differeing from the previous tree this one has a slant that appears as if it is leaning on the grass, a perculiar shape for a tree.

Given its surroundings in such a vast park, if I were to create a work out of this tree I would relate it to elements of the earth (fire, water, air and earth)

With this I drew up a mock sketch, when drawing I wanted the structure to resemble dew droplets on a spider web. These proposed droplets would be made from blown glass and would contain a candle . The fabric/string wrapping around the tree would be crocheted jute string and would both weave around the tree and attach to the ground. Droplets would then be suspended from the jute.

I then took this to the original image in photoshop and using planar images that resemble the materials created a digital mock up of the installation. This was especially hard in creating, as alot of this would would be small and detailed, however I imagine it would look something like the image.

Spatial Artists

Eva Hesse

Eva Hesse is an American-born installation artist pioneering in latex and plastics art.

Much of her art takes form in suspended latex shapes that differ from the initial use of industrial latex.

Her clusters of works all create ambiguous spatial experiences where the viewer can move about and interact with her structures.

Although in a gallery environment, Right After (1969) is a hung installation made from fibreglass cord that has been dipped in latex. The cords were hung in the air while drying so this work is fixed in this position.

It lends itself to look like or represent an object in nature, such as a spider web or any other organic form.

The work continues to decay in its environment, changing the shape of the object, creating new unique forms for viewers to be immersed in.

James Turrell

James Turrell is an American perceptual psychologist and artist. His architecturally engaging works can be found all across the world.

He is known for his manipulation of space and colour, his large-scale immersive installations put the focus on the viewer and their experience.

Turrell's most notable works are 'skyscapes' - his effort at merging the sky with the earth.

His works are their own form of landscape, where his artificial environments encourage the viewer to contemplate and meditate.

Encounter (2015) is a work located in Mexico, surrounded by Botanic Gardens. Resembling a UFO-like structure the work like many of his others creates a space where the viewer is intended to sit in science and think.

Entering a man-made 'hill' the audience sits in a lightscape as they are intended and look through the hole in the roof to view the sky.

After a couple of pre-wedding functions held in different locations, the most awaited Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding finally took place on July 12, 2024. The grand wedding ceremony was held at Jio World Convention Centre, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai.

The wedding lasted for three days, the main ceremony was held on 12th July followed by Shubh Ashirwad on 13th July, and the Mangal Utsav or reception on 14th July. Both Shubh Ashirwad and Mangal Utsav took place in Ambani house Antilia.

The total cost of Anant Ambani’s wedding is estimated at 5000 crores including Nita Ambani’s necklaces worth 500 Crore and Anant Ambani’s watch worth 67.5 crore.

To attend the lavish wedding of Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani’s youngest son Anant Ambani Bollywood stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, T20 World Cup 2024 winning team players Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and even politicians showed a presence at The Jio World Centre (BKC).

WWE superstar John Cena was also invited to Anant Ambani’s wedding ceremony. It is a totally open-air turfed venue, with a grass surface area of 13105 sq. m. Jio World Garden can host 9000 guests at a time. The lush green environment, serene water lakes, and exquisite landscape attract the people towards it.

Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC)

NMACC is a grand theatre with a capacity of 2000 people. It claims that NMACC is Technologically most advanced theatre of India. The intention behind the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre is to offer a better platform to promote art and culture.

The Jio World Convention Centre is a great example of modern architecture and technology. BIM technology used to build the Jio World Convention Centre. We are very happy to say that Excelize also part of this huge Indian structure as a BIM Consultant. Excelize as a BIM Consultant worked on this project for 6 months.

What Excelize did?

Excelize built the structural and architectural BIM model for all floors and three basement models.

The work was performed in three stages Design Stage, Construction Stage and As-built Stage. Design stage and construction stage work was performed by Excelize.

The project officially started in 2014, and between 2014 and 2019, Excelize worked on-site to enhance performance.

Traditional Taiwanese bentos, fried and grilled appetizers, and a wide range of drinks (milk tea, pure tea, salted cheese, lemon, fresh milk, smoothies) = comfort food to me. Love my popcorn chicken, pork chop rice, and minced pork belly over rice. Bentos start at $13.78 and come with rice, a soy egg, and sides.

Curry bento lite with five spice pork chop ($13.98): The bento lite comes with curry, rice, and your choice of protein. The scoop of rice was large and there was a lot of pork and curry, so it was enough food for a good meal. The steamed white rice wasn’t that hot and the curry was lukewarm. The star was the pork chop. They flattened the pork chop, breaded it, and fried it. The coating is seasoned with five spice powder. It tastes like popcorn chicken batter. The pork chop was crunchy on the outside and fairly moist. So good. But the temperature of the rice and curry was disappointing. The curry was heavily spiced and slightly sweet (Japanese style). It had bits of potato and carrot.

Earl grey milk tea ($5.25, fresh milk is $0.75 extra, grass jelly $0.75): The milk tea isn’t made with fresh milk by default. Hmm. The milk tea wasn’t bad but it did seem watered down a bit. There wasn’t much grass jelly but the grass jelly was soft and sweet.

The café is casual with pictures of their food and drinks on the walls. Order at the counter. They have reward points, free wi-fi, and a restroom. Online ordering is available. You can also scan the QR code at the table and order your food from your table. The wi-fi password is posted by the register.

Social media, such as snapchat, instagram and facebook, ahave face filters, some just give you a little touch up others just add a pair of bunny ears or anything simular. I think its cool and I do like it but sometimes the filters mess with your face when they were only supposed to put some stars on your face. I think they are ok but I wouldn't really make one.

Filters, lenses, and stickers

I think this is a cool idea, the whole vibe of wearing sunglasses that read QR codes on hoodies and shirts so you can see the cool wings on someone. It makes avatar creation into a reality and I think it is pretty cool. But there can be issues with the practicality of it like how expensive it is or how most people are not doing this so someone will just be walking around with a barcode on it and i might be a waste of its potential. I watched this video a while ago of Safiya Niyagaared with digital clothing. It was only for social media though.

It was very interesting and informed me about editing clothing on people in videos. I feel like I could make a lot of really cool accessories and designs if i had the opportunity to make things like that. I think after a while it could be something people could do naturally and use normally.

AR can also be used to make filters for certain areas something called GEOAR which means you only have access to certain filers in certain areas. The stranger things one is pretty cool and I believe it is quite true to the show. But I do feel as if maybe the little mini guy looks less where it is supposed to be. It looks like a png.

I myself probably wouldn't use these filters as they aren't very interesting to me. It isn't my thing to take a photo of myself for everyone to see but I appreciate the effort put into the flower faced guy when it came to modelling and colouring it.
