Massing Decisions , Timberline - work by @makerhazel Team: Willy Cao, Kosta Sevic . Timberline is a multi-program and mixed-use project that prepares for integration and change within Long Island City. The 3 main program elements were residential units, wellness center and a school. The design is driven by three initial precedents; site geometry, framing views of the City skyline, and uninterrupted passage through the site. The implicit strategies involved tapering and pinching the masses to create a diagonal causeway through the site and out to the East River. The team wanted to create moments for viewing, interaction and rest between each end of the building because of the narrow site I proportions.
