As I expected the sound was fucking loud lmaooo feeling the bass in the walls and the seats but also what a wild ride how do you just get out of a theater and get on with your life after being exposed to 3 hours of movie about the worst evil humanity has ever conjured what if I killed myself

something about beyond evil and how the story takes it time to let the characters simmer in their emotions in silence, taking us into the journey of figuring out what they are feeling without telling us exactly what we are seeing in these important moments...
just... wow.
like, it really adds to the suspense yet also makes the narrative more engaging to the audience.

The flak that love Simon gets is so weird to me as someone who was a teenager when that film came out like. It wasn’t a bad film by any means it was just. For teenagers. It was as good as something like to all the boys I’ve loved before and yeah maybe the ‘this is the most important film for gay rights’ reaction to it was ridiculous but it was really important to me when I was 15.

Happy Queer Media Monday!
Today: Cocoon (2020)
Yeah, not really my kind of story, but it sure made some memorable points.
(The last and most memorable picture from the movie, when Nora finds that her pet caterpillar has hatched.)
Summer 2018. Berlin is suffering under a heatwave. 14-year-old Nora’s life is changing, as she navigates everyday relationships, starts menstruating and discovers her sexuality.
A low budget coming of age story set in Berlin, I feel like this movie really captured well what it’s like to be a teenager, when everything in your life seems so big and important. The title is fitting, as, instead of a complete story with a conclusion, this “just” captures a moment of transformation in Nora’s life.
I watched this in summer 2020, when I was in Köln for a weekend. It was a very memorable experience, as 1) small village girl in a big city, and 2) summer 2020, so the whole evening had this beautifully forbidden in-between feel to it. It was a small cinema, so that was nice, too. I cried during the Pride scene. None of this has any significance in regard to the movie itself, but it matters to me, so I’m telling you about it.
You can find a trailer with subtitles here.
Queer Media Monday is an action I started to talk about some important and/or interesting parts of our queer heritage, that people, especially young people who are only just beginning to discover the wealth of stories out there, should be aware of. Please feel free to join in on the fun and make your own posts about things you personally find important!

I finally watched Vide Noir- pretty cool film! All the dark lighting and overlayed images really add to the surreal quality- it feels like a memory, and it keeps you guessing at what's real. I would love for LH to do more with film in the future (whether it be music videos, special live streams, or otherwise) since it's always such an experience. I'll never ever forget watching POTUWMT live, and it's great to finally see those clips in context. It was a long wait to hear Johnnie swear uncensored, but it was a worthwhile wait indeed.
