Idk what is it in these books, but Robin Hobb continuously makes my ass explode like a fucking thermonuclear bomb because of some men. I've only hate two living beings as strong as I hate these four fictional men. And what makes it even worse is that one of them is quite rational at being an asshole. He is a brainwashed kid and he doesn't realise how much of a fucking moron he is by doing the things he does. Hobb is a fucking genius of writing most disgusting, pathetic and despicable creatures.
I could even make tier list of them, but I don't wanna give any of them the privilege of being number one, so I'll just go in the chronical orded of how I came to hate them: regal (self explanatory), kyle (just fucking kyle), hest (he's a bitch that doesn't know what consent is, so fuck him in the ass), and the last and most definitely the leas is greft (not even fuck him, leave him in celibacy until the very end of everything).
Guess who made me angry today.

My favorite part of the series so far is clearly Leftrin and Alise but i also love Thymaras relationship with Sintara, i love that unlike the other dragon-keeper bonds Thymara is trying to be on equal terms with Sintara and thats the source of their conflict, i love Thymaras resolve to be respected by the dragon and how she isnt afraid of her, i think its very interesting and reminds me of Malta and Tintaglia

Wordle is running out of words. Only 2,000 five letter words remain. When that supply is exhausted the Creation shall begin. One day the word will be ZHURM, and all shall get it, and all shall understand it to mean "an ache from suddenly remembering a long-ago friend, who meant something to you once, but whose face you can no longer conjure". The next day the word shall be JOROL, and all will get it, and all will know it means "the melancholy confusion of passing by somewhere where you once could have died". The next day it will be GREFT, and all will understand it to be a small brown bird with white streaks found only in South America, and suddenly, it will appear, in the underbrush of the Amazon, in the streets of São Paulo, and all will know that it once was not there, but now, will always be

Almost done rereading Dragon Keeper. I forgot how this book affects my mood - the tension is so well built that I feel it in my body. I want to run in and scream "from each according to ability and to each based on need!"
It's interesting how Greft is arguing for willful survival of the fittest when that same mentality would have had many of the characters killed at birth. I suppose his way of coping with that is to prove he's strong despite his appearance, rather than to create a world that allows for everyone's talents.
It's been so long, I can't remember if these books fall into the "magical cure for disabilities" trope when the dragons get Silver. Dragon culture is ableist af, and I hope they learn something from our dragons.

Realm of the Elderlings Ask Meme Thing
This is so fun, thanks for the tag @mellowthorn!! <3
Favorite RotE book: Fool’s Fate
Why: Fool’s Fate and Fool’s Errand are both at the top of my list, but I have to give this one to FF because I don’t think any other book has made me lose my mind quite like this one. Robin Hobb said hi I wrote a book with every single gay fanfic trope in it and also it’ll shatter your heart into a million pieces! There’s dragons! What more could you want really
Top three favorite characters: Beloved, (I want to also list Amber but idk if that counts,) Fitz, Kettricken
Top three least favorite characters: Tats, Lant, Greft
Favorite ship (of the floating kind): Paragon! Tarman literally walking up the river with his little feet is very important to me though
Top three favorite ships (of the people kind): Fitzloved, Patience and Lacy, Erek and Detozi.
Would you rather be Witted or Skilled: Witted
If you were Witted, what animal would you bond with? Probably a dog or some kind of bird. Actually wait I started thinking about different forest animals and now I desperately want a possum as a wit partner
Would you rather live in the Outislands, the Mountain Kingdom, the Six Duchies, Bingtown, the Rain Wilds, Kelsingra, Jamaillia, the Pirate Isles, or Fool’s Homeland? The mountain kingdom sounds like such a nice place to live! I’d travel to the other places when I inevitably got too cold lmao
How were you introduced to the books? My mutuals were losing their minds over the series and I am very easily influenced when it comes to books ( @lordgolden I think your posts were the ones that convinced me to start reading it actually, thank you for the incurable brainrot <3)
Share a quote you love: There are so many, but the first one that came to mind was “If there must be another my fate is twined around, I am glad it is you.”
That whole section of AQ is what made me truly fall in love with the series. Fitz and Beloved’s relationship is so beautiful and complicated and tortured and it did truly change my brain chemistry!! The fact that they don’t need to have an explicitly romantic or sexual relationship to be the most important people in each other’s lives also just means a lot to me. (And despite all that they literally do have soul sex on the page. No one’s doing it like them)
Tagging: I know a lot of people have been tagged in this already, so if you like RotE and haven’t been tagged yet consider this your tag!

Realm of the elderlings ask meme thing
There's nothing I love more than ranking my favourite things! (I have not finished Assassin's Fate yet so things could maybe change)
Favourite Rote book: Royal Assassin
Why: This is the one that took me the longest to read. It paints Buckkeep so vividly, I felt like I was walking down its corridors alongside Fitz. Assassin's Apprentice serves to set up the story, and then by Assassin's Quest, everything has changed. And then, even when we get back to Buckkeep in Tawny Man, nothing is the same. Royal Assassin feels the most like home.
You've got Fitz bonding with Nighteyes, you've got Kettricken as Queen-in-Waiting alongside Verity, you've got an ailing King Shrewd, you've got peak sneaky old man Chade, you've got Patience and Lacey, you've got Fitz and the Fool becoming friends, you've got Burrich being a questionable but earnest parental figure, you've got the messiest teenage relationships, you've got political intrigue, and fun witted shenanigans, and all the things I love most about this series.
And the backdrop of the RedShip War is so compelling. It does what Piebalds don't do quite as well in Tawny Man. The threat lingers so heavily and is intertwined in everything that happens.
And it has one of the most well written endings I've ever read. The way everything comes together is insane. From Shrewd dying to Fitz being resurrected. His time in nighteyes' body is a masterpiece and an achievement of writing.
Top three favourite characters: Fitz, Beloved, Nighteyes (It feels wrong to not also mention Kettricken and Burrich here because I love them SO MUCH)
Top three least favourite characters: Dwalia, Ellik, Greft
Favourite ship of the floating kind: Paragon or Vivacia - I can't decide! You can't make me!
Top 3 ships of the people kind: Fitzloved, Alise x Leftrin, and Burrich x Chivalry x Patience - though also have a soft spot for Molly and Burrich.
Would you rather be witted or skilled: Being Skilled would probably be so much more practical, but Witted.
If you were witted, what animal would you bond with: a lazy little cat
Would you rather live in the Outislands, the Mountain Kingdom, the Six duchies, Bingtown, the Rain wilds, Kelsingra, Jamailia, the Pirate isles or Mercenia/Fool's homeland?: This feels like the wrong answer, but its the Six Duchies for me. The descriptions of Buck remind me so much of where I grew up in the cold by the sea. it feels familiar.
How were you introduced to the books: My mum!
Share a quote you love:
'Come, hunt with me, the invitation whispers in my heart. Leave the pain behind and let your life be your own again. There is a place where all time is now, and the choices are simple and always your own.
Wolves have no Kings.
-Royal Assassin, Epilogue
I think I've seen most of my mutuals do this. If you haven't, consider this me tagging you! and anyone else who wants to do it! xx
