shoutout to fern for having more detail and personality packed into her than most of my OCs, without ever having played her in an actual game yet. the only characters of mine that beat her for amount of detail are liz, who came pre-packaged with lots of detail and who i spent several hours before the LARP workshopping, and grimaia, who i've roleplayed almost every saturday for nearly two years. so yeah, shoutout to fern, the half-ton orange cattaur who is a psychic stoner pilot and adventurer and also trained chef.

I'm gonna answer for both numbered

1. What influenced or inspired the creation of this character?

Fern is equal parts a kink character, a self-insert, and the product of a few pieces of lore from the HC SVNT DRACONES and Stars Without Number rulebooks that I took and ran with. Definitely do not underestimate the number of choices I've made about her character because I was horny lmao. Also, I just thought the idea of making a funky round taur creature was cool as hell.

15. What is the best gift they could receive?

Very sappy answer: a long and happy life with her girlfriend Axe, full of love and adventure.

okay the contrast between the flats and fully shaded piece though??? i'm still super proud of how this turned out

this was not something we exactly planned to happen but @thehornedwitch's and my d&d characters (Axe and Grim respectively) now act VERY married.

in today's session Grim said to Axe that "I'll go wherever you go" when Axe asked for people to swim with her through a submerged cavern, and because Axe is an aasimar partially covered in feathers who can currently only breathe underwater because of some Shenanigans, Grim has started calling her by the nickname "Angelfish".

also, when the party hopped timelines a number of sessions ago, Grim's goddess, Wee Jas, instructed Grim to be ready to perform official religious ceremonies, and forcibly replaced a spell on her prepared spells list with one that enables her to conduct marriages.

Axe and Grim are very married and Grim's boss ships it

(edit: ruth just proposed that around the office Wee Jas and the other guardians of the Jasian afterlife refer to Axe and Grim together as "angel of death" for shipping purposes, as they're an aasimar and a death cleric :D)

Tell me about Grimaia! I don‘t know her but I’m super curious about your OCs and how dateable they are

Grimaia Mafaris, or just Grim for short, is my high elf death cleric in a D&D campaign I'm currently playing. here's some art i drew of her over on twitter! (nsfw warning for other content on the account).

Now how to describe what she'd be like to date...

I'll list some facts about her.

She's a cleric of Wee Jas, a death and magic goddess whose underlings are mostly retired succubi. (Weird name, I know. We're using the Greyhawk setting.)

She became a cleric because she pulled an Orpheus and waltzed right into the underworld through some fucked up magic, but she got stuck. She was eventually released back to the living world on the condition that she'd become a Jasian cleric. She has promised to make similar arrangements for multiple of her party members if they die and decide they want that.

She doesn't sleep. She just falls over seemingly entirely dead for four hours each night and then comes back well-rested and ready to go.

Another "was dead for a while and now I work for a goddess of the afterlife" perk is that she can consume the food of the dead as often as she likes with no ill effect. Which she does. Regularly. (I mean, hey, she doesn't have to cook anymore!)

And lastly...

Grim once animated an undead bone servant, who we named Teddy Anne. (Well actually, to be more specific, she was first named Teddy Bob in-game, but because of a joke I made several months later here on Tumblr we ended up deciding that she, like her mother Grim, is a trans woman. So we renamed her Theodora Anna Roberta, or Teddy Anne.) Teddy pretty immediately began collecting and incorporating into her body the bones and flesh of those she killed and consumed. Within a day, she grew to the size of a large building.

And then, after 24 hours were up, Teddy was free from the control of her mother.

The party skipped town as Teddy Anne The Bone Kaiju began to level the city.

hibiscus - do they have any allergies?

Not any that I can think of at the moment, but this is liable to change if the subject comes up again and it would be funny for her to have a specific allergy.

swimming - can they swim? or are they afraid of water? how well do they swim? how do they feel about swimming in the ocean?

Yes, she's a good swimmer! I actually have a doodle in the works about this.

bicycle - can they ride a bike? what do they remember from learning to ride a bicycle?

Hmmm.... do bikes exist in the d&d universe?

spider - what is their biggest fear? do they have any irrational/mundane fears?

Her biggest fear is Akxikas dying. Her greatest mundane fear is social anxiety. She's quite brave when it comes to weird, gross, or dangerous stuff, but other people can sometimes make her anxious, even though she loves making new friends.

15. How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first?

I don't do any character accent for Grim, so she just has my voice, which others have described as "very Californian" and "valley girl-ish". As with all my OCs, when I'm roleplaying I usually rehearse what I'm saying in my head first.

40. How sensitive are they to their own flaws?

Very. She has depression, and struggles not to be overly-critical of herself. However, she knows she has a likeable personality and an infectious positivity, and goddamnit she's gonna make sure everyone else knows just how cool she is.

42. How badly do they want to reach their end goal?

She is currently traversing timelines and planes of existence in pursuit of fortune and adventure, so she'll do basically anything in order to achieve a goal.

A) Why are you excited about this character?

I've been playing Grim basically weekly for almost two years. I've spent a lot of time playing as her. I've worked through a lot of my roleplay anxiety by playing her, and basically I love her very much.
