Quick engagement test for something me and a couple of friends are throwing around:
If I made some sort of Google form/poll/something else(?) to ask folks about what their fav yog ships are, would people be interested?
I'm mostly intrigued by seeing the data for what some of the the most popular ships in the fandom are, and also why if folks wanna share.
The form will most likely ask for your top 3 ships, and have an optional place to put in why you like them! (This way people can add some smaller ships they really like as well as bigger ones that may be more popular)

It's going to be my second Jingle Jam, and my audience has grown considerably from last year (~100subs to 2100), so I'm hoping to easily hit my goal of two bundles sold. Anyone else doing it this year?

A Blackrock Story: A Boy with Turquoise Eyes
Happy 12th Anniversary to Blackrock Chronicle!
This comic ended up being 47 pages long (when I first sketched it, it was only 20 pages long). Since I can only upload 30 images in a post, I had to combine 2 pages into 1 image so hopefully it's still visually fine and not annoying to scroll through!
I wrote this mini-story more than 10 years ago, so I figured it was time to finally make it into a comic (after editing the writing a lot because I became a much better writer since lol).
Be aware of the TWs, and I hope you enjoy this comic!
TW: Violence || Blood || Injuries/Scars/Burn Marks || Kidnapping || (Temporary) Death || Loss of Limb / Amputation

Thank you all for reading one of my most insane projects ever!
Now, here’s another long story:
About 8 years ago, my life became so busy that to stay on top of my studies and activities, I stopped watching a lot of YouTubers, including the Yogscast.
I’ve grown up throughout the years. I had to stop acting like a kid to figure out what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I’m still an artist today, but I haven’t drawn in this way for about 3 years to pursue my real passion. I love to draw, but I didn’t have the time or inspiration to make something grand.
About 3 months ago, I suddenly got curious about how all those YouTubers I stopped watching were doing, so I checked out their channels and watched a video or two before moving on. When I got to the Yogscast channel, on the other hand, I quickly fell in love with the new content and with everyone again.
It was insane to see how immediately my love for them came back. In 3 months, I’ve watched so many videos and streams/VODs. It’s all so comforting, funny, and uplifting. Clearly, I missed so much content in the past 8 years, but at least I don’t have to worry about running out of things to watch for a while.
What made me most happy was that despite changing a lot, I never stopped being that kid who laughed at the Yogscast’s shenanigans. It just goes to show that no matter how much the world tries to push you around, you never lose that sense of joy you had as a child.
Now, about Rythian:
Since I started watching the Yogscast in 2011, Rythian has always been my favorite. I loved his series so much, especially with how he got into character to give us an immersive experience. It was an escape for me as a kid. When difficult moments were thrown at me, I watched Rythian’s series to find a sense of comfort.
So when I started watching his and Zoey’s Blackrock series, my mind was blown. The storytelling, acting, humor, and drama of the series were so immersive and touching that my creativity exploded.
I mainly use art to express myself and my interests because I struggle to talk about it. But funny enough, Blackrock was the only interest of mine that got me to not draw, but to write. I wrote a lot of short stories about the series—even how I envisioned the series would end. I was so inspired to create all the time from this series.
And what’s crazy is that at the beginning of this summer, I found all of those written drafts and notes from when I was a kid. I kept them all for 10+ years and found a very loose (and not that good) draft of this comic and I felt really inspired to finish it.
It was roughly when I was first watching Blackrock too when I realized that I can be creative in the future. The Yogscast helped me understand that I can do whatever I want for the rest of my life. If they could do it, then why can’t I?
What’s also wonderful is that even after so many years, Rythian never stopped being my favorite. When I started watching the main channel again a few months ago, I immediately found myself rooting for him whenever he was in the group videos. I just remembered how much happiness he brought me when I was younger and it makes me so happy that I still get so much joy whenever I hear his voice.
While working on this comic, I watched all of Kirbycraft and caught up on Kirby Farm. I can’t help but smile the whole time Rythian, Briony, and Kirsty interact with one another. The dynamic of these three brings me so much laughter and comfort. A part of me is upset that I didn’t get back to watching everyone when Kirbycraft was still live, but better late than never, right?
I also originally started this comic without the intention of posting it. But then I figured, Hey, it’d be great to share it with everyone who’s also been impacted by this series and the Yogscast in general, so I made this blog to post it here. Honestly, I’m not sure when the next time I’ll be able to draw is (who knew building a career takes away a lot of your energy and time?). But I think that’s what’s so wonderful about my love for Yogscast and particularly Blackrock: I didn’t make this comic for the likes or views. It was just because I wanted to, and I’m so happy to see there are so many people on here who feel the same love for them as I do.
This series and the people who made it, along with the people who supported it and loved it and continued to love it, impacted me for the better. I learned so many years ago that I can be creative for a living, and have been working hard towards doing that since.
Happy 12th Anniversary to the Blackrock Chronicle. To Rythian and Zoey who put a smile on this kid’s face even during the toughest of times.
And to the Yogscast, thank you for being there for me when I needed you all the most and for still being here when I came back. Your ability to inspire me and make me laugh never disappeared throughout the years I was gone, and I’m ready to laugh some more.

Minecraft had such a good fandom in 12-14, there were so many great animations and AMVs flying around. I wish Dig Build Live (joint account of Slamacow, Bootstrap Buckaroo, and Captainsparklez) would rise again.
Honorary Mentions:
CraftedMovie (for those of you who know Grian from Hermitcraft, this channel is where some of his roots are, he would build the sets and act if needed. The background music they used were all so bouncy and fun)
Bootstrap Buckaroo was a literal professional animator that would lend a hand and make the character models and rigs for the Captainsparklez music videos around Fallen Kingdom and later
Weed lion- idk if he wiped his archive but he mostly animated for/with Team Crafted (SkydoesMinecraft’s group)
Ceeraanoo- animated ‘Screw the Nether’, ‘Moonquest’, ‘How Do I Craft This Again?’, and a few others for The Yogscast.
W Labs std- honestly I JUST discovered these guys while strolling down memory lane listening to Minecraft music parodies for this post and I already love their animation style!

The winner of this poll will go on to face Soup Group (GeminiTay, Pearlescentmoon, ImpulseSV)
PROPAGANDA:
Honeyphosna:
THE ORIGINALS!!! They're just three stupid guys trying to go to space and make jaffa cakes and they suck at it So bad. Xephos is an alien, Honeydew is a dwarf, and Lalna is their resident human blorbo.
They're the OG ok. And they all sleep in the same bed.
one of the og trios, they deserve to be on here even if they're gonna get bodied
These fucking idiots managed to crash on the moon 3 times. Back to fucking back, 2 of which were rescue missions. There’s tons of animations about the “Hold Space To Slow Down” travesty.
Karlnapity:
ok so i don’t actually like 2/3 of them as people (lmao guess which you get 3 and the first two don’t count) but the DYNAMIC. the SHIP. the CANON POLYAMORY. also the fuckin. versatility. like they can be dating! they can be engaged! they can be going through the worst angst you can fucken imagine! they can be divorced! i want to study them.
the most poly relationship to ever. no one has ever done it like them. no one will ever do it like them again. they built an alter for their marriage but never got to make a date. miscommunication drove them all apart but they were at their best together. they were home for each other. their love is so tragic its going to drive me up the walls

I think the reason there's consistently been generations of minecraft youtuber groups (yogscast, team crafted, stampylonghead, dreamsmp, hermitcraft, qsmp, etc), just youtuber groups in general (sidemen, lunch club, the eboys, offlineTV, distractible/three peens in a pod, trash taste, etc), or even duos (smosh, game grumps, good mythical morning, chuckle sandwich, dan and phil, etc) is bcuz people crave that sense of community, that connection, between friends. they consistently spend time together since making videos are their literal careers and are usually always having a great time cuz it needs to be entertaining. craving that kind of strong and consistent type of relationship to drown out the loneliness and living vicariously through these content creators and their friend groups

MCYT Eras Concept
For a long time, I've thought of MCYT as divided into different eras. I've finally decided to refine the idea and write it out. I feel it's a good way to define things, rather than just "old school" and "modern", as the bar for each of those have shifted drastically over time. Please do note that a lot of how I describe these eras is mostly from my own perspective, but I do think the overall divisions work well for MCYT as a whole!
Era 1 - The "OG" Era (2009 - 2011)
The beginning of Minecraft and MCYT. Much content at this point was traditional lets plays, simple tutorials and showing off early innovations in redstone.
Era 2 - The "Classic" Era (2012 - 2014)
This era encompasses what is often considered the peak of many iconic "old school" groups and series. Team Crafted, Mindcrack, the various Yogscast Tekkit series, and many, many more.
It's difficult to describe everything that made up the classic era in a succinct manner. It was the true rise of SMPs, Adventure Maps, Minecraft Animations, Parodies, Mod Reviews, MCRP, and so, so much more. Minecraft was unavoidable on YouTube back then.
Era 3 - The "Gap" Era (2015 - 2017)
The "gap" era is named for the lull in MCYT's popularity. In this period of time, it was seen more as a niche, compared to the massive popularity it saw before and after.
This era saw the "death", or at least massive dips in popularity to many formerly wildly popular groups and ccs, as viewers interests changed and moved onto other things.
Many series came and went during this era, but weren't properly appreciated until after their time.
Era 4 - The "Revival" Era (2018 - 2019)
This era, due to a combination of many factors, was MCYT's return to mainstream. Many people returned to both singleplayer series and servers. Episodic SMPs old and new such as Hermitcraft and Truly Bedrock, began experimenting more with the lines between gameplay, story and improv.
This era also saw the rise of streaming based series, such as SMPLive, SMPEarth, and Minecraft Monday.
Era 5 - The "Lockdown" Era (2020 - 2022)
Much of this era is defined by the new heights reached during covid lockdowns. This era kicked dozens if not hundreds of the careers of those who grew up watching MCYT during the OG and Classic eras.
This era is admittedly very defined by the DSMP, rocketing MCYT and specifically MCRP into a level of popularity unseen before. Second, and as just as important to this era is MCC, bringing together so many personalities from all over the MCYT sphere who otherwise would likely have never interacted on a monthly basis.
A massive innovation in this era was also the introduction of the Simple Voice Chat mod to many servers, now a staple of most multiplayer content.
Era 6 - The Current Era (2023 - Present)
Unnamed as of yet, as it is still ongoing, the current era of MCYT has so far been defined by not only the continued rise of many smaller, younger MCYTs. But largely, and undoubtedly, by the QSMP.
Not only has it redefined what an SMP can be through its gameplay. It has brought the international MCYT community is closer together now than ever, crossing language and cultural barriers previously rarely touched.
---
This concept of mine isn't fully solidified, and is up to be more refined. I would love to hear y'all's thoughts and feedback about these divisions and the idea overall!

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Will this zine be digital or physical?
The ITLZ will be released digitally as a pdf, and there are no plans to release a physical copy at this time.
2. Can you elaborate on what this zine will be?
The ITLZ will be a timeline of Martyn's content creation journey. Contributors will each (or in a group) select a piece of content that Martyn has released and create a work relating to that content. The works will then be organized in the zine by order of Martyn's release date for that piece of content.
3. What do you mean by "piece of content"?
Martyn has created a variety of content in his over 13 years on Youtube. So "piece of content" can refer to: songs, one off videos, video series, livestreams, and any other media that might not fall under one of those categories.
4. What is the time frame of this zine?
This is a rough timeline and subject to change. Moderator applications will open at the end of September, and close after 2 weeks at which point the selected mods will be contacted. Contributor applications will open in the middle of October and close in the beginning of November. Acceptance and rejection emails will be sent out a week later. Once accepted, the discord will open and the contributors will have a 3 week research period in which to give people time to view and decide upon what piece of content they would like to chose for the zine. Afterwards, at the beginning of December, we will enter the creation period with 3 to 4 check ins spread throughout and a final check in occurring in the beginning of March.
The zine will then be released on or around April 7th, 2025 for Martyn's birthday.
5. What will be the size of this zine?
The plan is to keep the InTheLittleZine pretty, well, little since this is my (the organizer's) first time organizing a zine. The current estimation is somewhere between 30-40 contributors, though that number could change. This does unfortunately mean that we only be able to cover a small percentage of the content that Martyn has created.
6. Will this zine have Martyn's old content or only focus on his modern series?
The ITLZ will include his older content, including anything from before he joined the Yogscast, while he created content under the name YOGSCAST - Martyn, and anything created under the name InTheLittlewood. (This also includes the music created in collaboration under the name SYLOS)
7. Will collaborations between artists and writers be allowed?
Absolutely!
8. I'm not sure I can contribute a full piece to this, would I be able to submit something small?
We cannot make any promises, but I (the organizer) have an idea for including smaller pieces. The logistics of it need to be worked out with the ITLZ mods before the idea can be committed to. So please keep an eye out for more information that in the future!

unfortunately i really don't have the time or the attention span to keep up with livestreaming or vods so have just been seing stuff about kirbycraft on dash. If you know/it's too much trouble could you give me the cliffnotes of Rythian kirbycraft stuff of importance?
Apologies for the late response! I was a few streams behind on KirbyCraft so I wanted to be fully caught up before answering. So KirbyCraft isn't really a rp but there is some lore and plenty of nods to Blackrock, so I have broken it down by stream in case there is a specific moment you are interested in/want to watch for yourself!
Stream 1: 20/01/2023 - Rythian died immediately - Rythian "finagled" his way into the group - "You can't trust endermen" - Ryhian is the only one with a brain cell "deep breaths rythian, deep breaths" - (Exasperated) "don't cause trouble with the endermen!" "don't cause war with the endermen, that's like 3 seasons from now" - "I can give you all the lore if you want" "Their entire world got ruined by a big ol' magical experiment so now it's a wasteland" - (after being called edgy) "listen. edge is my history. I can't pretend I wasn't an edgy boy. I'm holding onto that" - In response to "if we're cold, they're cold" about endermen "He's not cold - he comes from a dimension of void. He has no sense of temperature!"
Stream 2: 27/01/2023 - Rythian is assigned the leaky room below the farm (even out of rp rythian gets the shitty room)
Stream 3: 03/02/2023 - Rythian is a canonical boob man - (In response to Briony being excited about the idea of getting an enderman to pick up a pumpkin) "why are you so excited about an enderman, they re evil" "Briony, you are so naive, you'll be the death of me one day"
Stream 4: 10/02/2023 - (About endermen) "I may or may not speak that language"
Stream 5: 24/02/2023 - Au is different from blackrock lore (Rythian can be friends with endermen)
Stream 6: 03/03/2023 - The gang decides to live in a woodland mansion Rythian's wrestling intro is "the voodoo people" (pendulum remix) by Prodegy - "I may not have a finatical hatred for endermen, based on my character's backstory, anymore, but they're still dangerous enemies!" - Rythian goes into how he joined the Yogscast and that he has always had a passion for creative projects so the moment he had the chance to make one, he made Blackrock
Stream 7: 10/03/2023 - Rythian says endermen deserve nothing but then backtracks and says they can have a block. Is deemed a "big softie" for showing the smallest amount of not-hatred towards endermen - Rythian blames a portion of their house burning on an enderman - Rythian (about getting xp back after dying) "I guess I gotta go either go on a killing spree or find some nether quarts I suppose" Briony "Oh, no it's happening. Rythian has reached peak evil Rythian" "It's the evil alt-rythian"
Stream 8: 17/03/2023 - "Beginning of my villain arc? maybe" literally 5 seconds later quotes the lil jon remix of cooking by the Book - Kirsty calls the idea of the end cute Rythian: "It's not. It's terrifying and despair enducing"
Stream 9: 31/03/2023 - Rythian suggests giving the enderman that lives in their house a gift (something pretty that grows) because the End is devoid of anything twits a conversation about bears to (half-jokingly) say that it is okay that he kills endermen because it is 'in his nature'
Stream 10: 14/04/2023 - Only briony can tame endermen by looking them in the eye. Rythian jokes about how many mystery mods are in the mod pack and how he would prefer that all endermen are automatically hostile and "go full-on ender-war" - Rythian is against adding a big-titty-endermen mod - Because the end was transformed into a wasteland with no resources/food, its inhabitants changed into a form that could survive without sustenance. Endermen can survive most poisons, diseases, and curses. - Rythian compares the 'friendermen' to slave soldiers - Rythian describes as an "angy boy" - Originally Nilesy was supposed to be a part of KirbyCraft
Stream 11: 21/04/2023 - Rythian doesn't like that the endermen seem to think that their mansion is a safe place for them - Rythian tries to befriend an enderman and it says "I remember you" - Rythian acknowledges the usefulness of befriending endermen

Yog-Map Song Poll
This will be to decide what song should be used in the MAP! There is an FAQ below the cut in case you're wondering why certain suggested songs may have not made the cut for the poll.
FAQ:
Why wasn't X Song picked!
For a song to be picked it needed to follow a certain criteria:
It couldn't be a song that already has a big video done for it in the yog fandom (such as 21 guns) or a video that already has a video by the official yogscast team (such as screw the nether). This is to not overshadow the former, and doing the latter would be more of a re-animation rather than something original.
It had to be a song that would be viable for a MAP with the amount of people who were interested. (For example, a seven minute song would need upwards of 30 people interested)
It had to be a song that when listened too, wouldn't scream one specific series or character, This is so every group could easily be added based on wants of the artist.
And finally it needed to be something multiple people were interested in.
