The KNPS AU What-If we discussed. The Piraka form the Golden-Skinned Being and absorb Krahka. Both because some of them know what she can do, so being able to use that for their own gain - and to remove a powerful enemy - can only benefit them.

And it's a moral and emotional blow to the Toa Inika, who are mentored by Krahka.

Enter the Turaga. They are upset, horrified, and pissed. And so is Tien.

Like we'd said, giving Krahka and (at least some of) the Piraka a history means that they know exactly what she's capable of and want her as part of their fusion. It's also, like you said, an absolute horror show for Krahka with her general dislike of fusions. She can't transform into more than one thing at once (outside of very minor stuff like teeth or eyes or claws that don't go on a given form) without feeling like she's being pulled apart at the seams, so deliberately fusing into something that's more than the sum of its parts, like Tien or the Kaita, weirds her out. Being forced into one herself? Bad Time.

The Inika have had her as their weird mentor for a few months now and they would all die for her, so they're incredibly upset. She's cool and funny and completely insane and so totally unlike anyone else they've ever known, and one of the only adults all six of them connect with.

And the Turaga...she's one of them. How dare this being, this thing, take one of their own for something as petty as power? You want power? Tien will show you power. ("oooooh scary what are a bunch of Turaga going to do WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT")

I think the general tone up until this point, like you said, is more campy goofy Power Rangers/Gohan Goes To High School level shenaniganery. I'm not sure if the GSB would be the "final boss" of the Inika stuff to transition to Mahri (because I would absolutely want to have Vezon my beloved Vezon in there somehow) but I do feel like it has to come at least a bit earlier than it does in canon to get that tone shift in there, since I think the Mahri stuff is going to wind up being inherently more serious.

At the very least, ‘Rocket Raccoon & Groot’ didn’t do that bad with Gwen talking to the wall once they (subtlely) made it clear she couldn’t actually see beyond it; and was just guessing where it was.

RR&G's Gwen has... a controversial standing in the fandom. The way she interprets the fourth wall is a lot more direct. Especially with the 'this is what happened last time' updates. Even GSB points out how quick with the gun violence she is, compared to every other iteration, instead of Gwen's usually more eccentric methods (bombs).

There's still a lil bit good sprinkled there, like you mentioned with the 'guessing where the fourth wall is' bit, and I'm fond of how she reacted to this major event and what got her into the final act. (The Kitty thing was clever, yo!) But yeah, if you ask people as a whole which Gwen is the most uncharacteristic Gwen, she'd be at the top of the list. Her and Champions!Gwen.
