Ehem, sorry, Iida has caught me on an angsty day. (Don’t worry; I wrote that two days ago and I’m feeling better now.) It is an interesting dilemma, though, isn’t it? Is that he doesn’t like being associated with his family name, Todoroki, so he’d rather go by his given name (move to the west, big boy! We’ll take you!!!!) and 2. Is that he doesn’t like being associated with his quirk, because that also links him to Endeavor. So he doesn’t want to name himself after his quirk. Right? We’re agreed? Glad we’re agreed.

How to Text Korean like Korean People!

Whats poppin guyssssss. Today, I missed a class, stayed home doing nothing, took a long nap, went to see a movie, met a friend of mine at a cafe, and just got home. Right now, I’m at the computer trying to teach you some Korean again. It was a little hard for me to choose a topic for today, but you know, my lessons are all about NATURAL & REAL Korean. So today, I’m going to teach you “How to Text Korean like Korean People”.

#1. Use ‘~’.

We call it ‘물결(표시)’, which means a ‘wave (marker)’. It’s easy to use! You can just think of it as a replacement of commas and periods. Wave markers are used not to sound blunt. Let’s see how it goes.

A:  오늘 하루 어땠어~? (How was your day?)

B:  좋았어~~(Good.)

Wave markers are used to pronounce something long. Here is an example.

A: 얘들아~~~~뭐해??? (Guysssss. What are you doing?)

LOL. Something funny popped into my head. I think Korean people say “아~~~~~”(ahhhhhh) a lot when they understand something. That 아 is always pronounced long, so we express it with wave markers in texts too. (There’s one funny video of Conan O’brien and Korean girls. I will share a link.) But compared to Korean people, western people say just like “ah, okay”. Hahaha Can’t you be more like “ahhhhhhhhh got it!”? Well…if you type in English, that ‘ah, okay’ is fine. But try to use “아~~~이해했어(ahhh, got it)” when your Korean friend explains something to you:) https://youtu.be/PJcDes3LX9M .

#2. Use ㅋㅋ&ㅎㅎ.

‘ㅋㅋ’ is like ‘haha’, and ‘ㅎㅎ’ is like ‘hehe’. In other words, ‘ㅋㅋ’ is more like laughing, and ‘ㅎㅎ’ is like smiling. The number of ㅋs shows how funny something is. If you use ㅋ like “ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ”, then it’s like LOL. Just so you know,  just one ㅋ can be scoffing. So start with two ‘ㅋ’. Hahaha

#3 Use ㅜㅜ/ㅠㅠ.

What do you think it is? Doesn’t it look like crying emojis? Hahaha yes. So normally you have two eyes, so it can be started with two ㅜㅜ/ㅠㅠ, but if you are more sad and want to express your emotion, you can use it as many as you can.
