A sketchy portrait of my GW2 engineer, Icarus... I never got to do a picture of her. She has ink for blood and loves everything pink.
Just wanted to do a very simple and indulgent sketch, you know - a pretty girl, lots of sparklies, the works. :)

Another one of my ‘Liv would not not be doing this but okay’ moments, I finally have scrapper all trained and geared up, ready to use! But at least he’s all big and handsome with an artisan hammer and a matching rifle!
Do note his dog mini. It gives me life.

"Maker"
the Iron Legion level 10 storyline calling the player 'maker' at every turn bc they couldn't use the player name was really jarring and weird tbh. it felt super awkward. like who calls someone a 'maker' like. couldn't they have used 'inventor' or 'engineer' or something??
hence the following headcanon. 'maker' is a perfectly normal term in charr society, in fact I'd say they use it exclusively instead of 'inventor.' why? well, they're a different culture/people group or something. sorta like the difference between American English and British English. (of course, at this point we get into things like charr DO have their own language and what's the real linguistic terms charr would use or what's the root word in use here for 'inventor/maker/etc' in charr language but shhhh I'm not ready for that rabbit hole yet)
anyway. the term 'maker' is a bit distinct, in that sense, from 'engineer' - who could be anybody from a member of that profession to somebody who tinkers to somebody who uses other people's inventions/devices/tools to someone who, yes, invents/makes things. 'engineer' is an umbrella term in that sense.
there could be an argument made for 'maker' being distinct from engineer I suppose? but that'd be probably fringe cases for like. I used to be an engi but I'm not anymore, but a maker is a maker, that's a lifelong title sorta deal. (if you made something you MADE IT bro. idk if you don't make things anymore)
in the rest of the world, 'maker' feels awkward because like. that could be anything from a technologically innovative advancement to complex construction to making a cup of tea to assembling an IKEA cabinet - I mean, you could say 'make' or 'made' about literally any form of craft or creativity. "I made that person die" is kinda clumsy but you get the idea. but for charr it's very specific. in fact I bet they don't use it in the usual sense anywhere else - e.g. "I caused that person to die" (I bet they used 'caused' wherever it makes more sense than 'made.' I like that, gives them a different linguistic tilt/character voice kinda thing.) and for everything else just the specialized terms - "I assembled the IKEA cabinet" and "I built the thing" and even for like. cubs making mud pies, probably "I cooked mud pies" lolz. and so on.
anyway. I'm gonna go ctrl+shift "made" and "make" and reword every instance of a charr using those terms wrongly... or improper usage of them in charr PoVs.... aruguahd;kasdf;lkajsdf wish me luck

I don't have any Charr-sibs. And I didn't include the Konu-sibs because I already had the twins for Humans. Maybe we'll do a round with them for White Day!
