For the final show in Hamburg, the Phantom (Ian Jon Bourg) and Christine (Colby Thomas) sang a wonderful duet of ‘Music of the Night’ and ‘Think of Me’ combined. It’s quite lovely, and inspired a bunch of headcanons about this being their feelings after the events of Phantom had ended.

Will Wood music is so good it’s like. I’m at a jazz show. I’m at a rock concert. I’m disassociating. I’m hyper aware of how my body looks. I hate modern society. Can’t we go back to the 50s? Wait the 50s sucked too. I’m a vampire. I’m a werewolf. I’m incapable of love. I have so much love to give. What’s my gender anyway? I am at a skeleton swing party in an animated film.

Things I quote regularly from Gaston Leroux's Phantom of the Opera:
• "Horror, horror, horror!"
• "There was a poor Raoul who overheard you"
• "How nice of you to save me the exertion at my age!"
• "I am jealous! I am jealous! I am jealous!"
• (Unhappy man! Do you want to be killed?) "Perhaps" - said with dispair
• "You don't love me! You don't love me! You don't love me!"
• "you great booby"
• "I'm kind of a Don Juan, you know!"
• "You're looking at me because I am all wet? Oh, my dear, it's raining cats and dogs outside!"
• "Baby!" (the daroga talking to Raoul) but specifically how the audiobook narrator says it

Hello hello hello!
Today is a double feature, as these songs are somewhat one, but can be separated by lyrical topic?
Give it up for I Remember | Die Erinnerung kehrt zurück, and Stranger Than you Dreamt it | Schlimmer als ein Alptraum!

Sadly, there is no audio version for this that I could find. So here is my unfiltered rambling – I hope you enjoy!
Erik calls Christine a hussy. A bit harsh when compared with the English Lyrics. And again a change that was added when the show opened in Hamburg.
Also this is the first instance of a Frankenword (or a Kompositum in German) with the word Sehnsuchtskrank. The best translation I could find was the meaning of the two combined words Sehnsucht (longing/yearning) and krank (sick).
So far the translation were pretty easy to do, although the order of the words can be a bit complicated. Do I translate it word for word, or do I put the translation into a sentence that sounds like English?
I guess it depends on the mood of the day
Thanks for reading! <3
