Guild Wars 2 RP Event [NA Server]: Pact Potluck

Join us on Sunday, June 23rd at Vigil Keep for a potluck event. Active and retired members are both welcome, as are their friends and family. Bring your favorite dish with plenty to share (but please no alcohol) and settle in for an evening of good food and good company.

Directions and Event Rules below:

Getting there: We will be utilizing the spare shipping pavilion close to the keep's waypoint. For those who don't mind a longer walk, you can take the road north of Lion's arch. Turn right at the first bridge exiting LA, then turn left at the fork after the next bridge, left again at the next fork, and right at the fork after that. The road will end at the ramp up to the keep. The waypoint and another ramp will be on your right. The event pavilion is at the end of this ramp.

EVENT RULES:

Adhere to the intended event tone and avoid instigating conflict. This is a role-play event, so your litmus test should be, "Would my character be asked to leave at a real reunion event for this behavior?" If the answer is "probably," please do not do that. I don't want to kick anyone out of the event, but I don't tolerate party crashing.

OOC fighting is not permitted. Not everybody is one good terms with one another, and I don't expect everyone to be friends, but if you have a grudge, please avoid engaging one another instead of picking a fight in this space.

Nobody is required to interact with anybody else. if someone does not want to actively RP with you (or at all!), please respect their wishes.

The "no alcohol" rule is for my own comfort and is not meant to be a story hook to push. Failure to ignore this rule, including bringing mystery flasks that are implied to contain alcohol, will result in you being asked to leave.

As the event host, I am also a role-play participant, so if you want to get involved but don't know where to start, you're welcome to approach me!

I know in-game food trays are a pain to procure. You are NOT required to bring real in-game food. If you say your character brought a banana cream pie, they brought a banana cream pie. If you say your character hauled in a whole roast dolyak, they hauled in a whole roast dolyak. It's all pretend at the end of the day anyways!

So, last night i took a part in my very first rp event.

I was so excited about it I forgot I had anxiety and then when so many people showed up I felt like "yeah no im not speaking up, imma just quietly observe..." but then i was put in the spotlight by one of the people present and I guess it was what I needed, because after that I was more active.

I also made a doodle, so after I fix it a bit (the proportions and composition are not the way I want them) I might post it later.

A "major" setback for me would be that I'm a slowtyper and I felt really awkward for a long time so it took me a while to write something but when I was ready to send it it was already too late because the conversation moved on.

Despite me typing slow and needed some "warming up to the crowd" I had tons of fun. People were wonderful and funny and, oh, those poor beginner players! But what I loved the most is how we all brought our fictional gw2 blorbos to life during that event.

All in all, my personal rating of the event is 8/10 - taken two points away because of me being slow and me being anxious. if it wasn't for that I would probably have given it 10/10. If there are ever more open events like that, I will attend them as long as timezones and real life don't tell me "no, you're not going"

...oof... There's... a LOT of characters to sift through to answer this one...

I'll keep it fairly tame and limit it to JUST characters I've written for MMOs. (20+ years of RP both online and tabletop means I have written... a lot of characters... LOL)

Neverwinter Nights: Heathern Ferne is still one of my darlings. A dumb-as-rocks fighter with a heart of gold (and Chessi's first distant incarnation) she ended up becoming a competent fighter, learning some rogue tricks from the ninja she fell in love with, teaching him to view himself as a person instead of a disposable tool, having a child and overcoming some really impressive obstacles.

WoW: Zorayas, the draenei mage, was a spur of the moment character I ended up greatly enjoying because of just how gods damned seriously she took everything. A joke wasn't a joke, it was an offense. A mistake wasn't a mistake, it was a mistake. She was fiercely loyal, extremely suspicious of people who acted free and easy and determined to use her magic for the benefit of herself and the few people she cared about.

GW2: Capricia Vetrov, oh my darling how I love you. While her story never came to a complete conclusion, I've drawn my own mental end for it and honestly... ugh, my heart. My elementalist was vicious and hostile and sarcastic, lashed out at everyone, struck first before anyone could strike at her and had absolutely every reason to be so guarded and bitter. She's still one of my favorite characters, perhaps my absolute favorite, and maybe I'll get around to finishing that novella I started to give her a happy ending.

FFXIV: Having only played the game for about two years, I'd have to say my favorite RP With People character is C'allie Kyho, that outrageously confident, Certified 100% Trauma-Free™ miqo'te. C'allie is a bit of a chameleon, shifting the personality she displays depending on who she's engaging with and why, but I genuinely like the growth she's had and where her story currently is. My favorite character is Annalei d'Latu. I love that thrice-damned bitch. She's vicious and arrogant and brilliant and just downright nasty. I adore her.

--Getting to know the account

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO TAKE ON THIS MUSE:

C'allie Kyho was my first FFXIV character, made on a trial account just to see what the game was like. Anything with a bow tends to be fairly easy to learn in a new MMO, so I started her off in Gridania and built a vague story about her wanting to see the world and singing her way across it (for the BRD class.) The more I learned about the game's lore and the astounding flexibility of it, the more I started branching out with various characters that I used off and on, depending on who seemed to want what kind of story.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ASPECTS OF YOUR CURRENT MUSE:

C'allie Kyho: Being 100% Certified Trauma-Free™ and the fact that her arrogance isn't even arrogance; her self-esteem is just that unshakeable. (True fantasy roleplaying.)

Annalei d'Latu: The development of her marriage to Seifer d'Latu and the fact that she's a mortician, poses as a therapist and would happily bring another Calamity onto Eorzea if it meant more power for her.

Summer Bellmayne: Il Mheg (having an IC tie to it is just... -chef's kiss- dream come true) and the fact that a deranged romance novelist gets some fascinating reactions from people.

C'esti Kyho: Having a fairly stable Kyho (the tribe is very... interesting) with a skill I deeply admire (aerial hoop performances oh my god) who loves coffee as much as I do and who is actually... pretty normal?

Chessi Eder: She is my favorite punching bag, and it's legitimately sweet and heartbreaking seeing how she will absorb pain without question and then find absolute delight in the simplest things.

WHAT'S YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATION WHEN IT COMES TO WRITING:

Reading, honestly. I just... cannot be bored, it's like physical agony for me (yay ADHD!) and since I'm lucky enough to have no problems comprehending language or typeface, I read CONSTANTLY. Like... if I'm not RPing or watching a movie, there is an ebook open on my phone or a physical book in my hand. I am almost always reading. [I average a book a day and yes, people who know me IRL can vouch for this.] So reading as much as I do and reading SO MANY THINGS means I'm constantly seeing ideas or plot threads or character traits or combinations of things that feed my own creative spark and make me eager to explore.

My biggest inspiration to write is because I just damn well love a good story and if I can make one happen in RP? Yessssssssss... GIMME.

FAVORITE TYPES OF THREADS:

Honestly, anything but lengthy combat threads with constant dice rolls. I don't mind combat as long as I'm writing with someone who can agree "we both take hits and if I win this fight, you win the next fight" but I get bored very very quickly when it's just a "roll... determine outcome of roll...post appropriate physical action...wait for a roll...wait to determine outcome of roll...wait for post of appropriate physical action..."

I'd almost rather just talk it out OOC, agree to who wins the fight and skip ahead to the aftermath.

Favorite living World Season?

I like the events of Season 3, but I think Season 4 is my favourite. It had more of the characters I like.

Favorite Expansion?

Heart of Thorns. The story is just more impactful for me. I love Sylvari and it just opened a boatload of possibilities. PoF was a little bland tbh and Balthazar was lame as hell. Though I love the mounts, gw2 has ruined mounts for me with how good they feel when you’re handling them.

Favorite Soundtrack?

I love this game’s music, I think I kinda like HoT’s map music more? Dragon’s Stand in particular. But Fear Not This Night is still top of my list.

First profession you played?

I started with Elementalist.

First race you played?

Human, and then a LOT of Sylvari. My left over slots are gonna be at least one of the other three races haha

Favortie Destiny’s Edge Character?

At first it was Caithe, but then she did things and I absolutely despise her now. So Rytlock, even if he’s fucked up a bunch, he at least definitely shows remorse and you can see him doing his best to be better and as he says, to make things right.

Favorite Dragon’s Watch character?

I love Canach’s snark, but I have to say my fave is Taimi, and by extension Gorrik as well.

Favorite Elder Dragon?

Mordremoth. but visually, the concept art for Zhaitan is incredible. It’s sad they didn’t have the technology they have now to do Zhaitan’s last stand.

I can’t remember much but I feel I enjoyed fighting Kralkatorrik the most.

Pop-Up Beach Party [NA] GW2 RP Event

Aching for a vacation? Boring week looming on the horizon? Have I got the cure for you! Dr. Grotto of Lion's Arch Adventures is hosting an open beach party on Monday, April 15th from 2pm to 5pm EDT.

To join, find us in the RP Squad LFG Tab under "LAA Beach Party" or type the command "/sqjoin Eevee.9107" into your chat panel. We'll be just north of Bloodcoast Ward Waypoint [&BA4EAAA=]

Rules:

Chill vibes only! Please keep all squabbling to a minimum and leave rivalries at the door. You're in no way obligated to interact with other attendees, so it's no biggie if you have someone privately blocked - just don't rope everyone else into it!

you will receive up to three warnings for violating the above rule before being removed from the event. Particularly egregious conduct may result in a ban from all future LAA events.

This is an RP event, but you're not required to participate in RP if you'd rather just watch!

Come and go as you please - there's no obligation to stay until the event ends, nor to arrive at 2pm sharp. (That said, I do appreciate people who arrive on time if able - it's very nerve wracking when there's only 1-2 other people for the first 10 minutes!)

This tour route includes steep slopes and short drops. While a mount is not required for the route, one is recommended for individuals who might otherwise struggle with rough terrain.

Weapons are permitted but not required. Your Tour Guide is prepared to tackle any reasonable threats along the tour route.

Due to the nature of this event, latecomers will have to catch up to the tour group, so please be on time! Were you manipulated by a dragon, only to be tossed aside to find your own fate when they kicked the bucket? Tired of being a spectacle or cautionary tale? Want to spend time with people who won’t ask the same annoying questions?

Join me in Southsun for a Dragon Discards Getaway. Refreshments provided. BYOS (bring your own seating).

Getting There:

I recommend sailing west from Lion Point Waypoint, but if this is your first trip to the island, you can also navigate along the southern and western coast from Camp Karka Waypoint. Be advised that this route is longer and more dangerous.

 The event is held on a very tall ledge. I will use a shadow portal to transport anyone lacking a skyscale from the cliff base to the event site.

Event Rules:

Keep it civil. If you want to fight, take it somewhere out of sight, out of earshot, and outside the event space. [This rule applies to both IC and OOC. Some events allow for mild IC confrontation, but this one does not.]

This is an exclusive event. If you do not meet the criteria, you cannot attend. We are not spectacles for your entertainment. [note - that's only an IC restriction, so there's nothing stopping your character from lying to get in. Additionally, OOC lurking is fine and does not break this rule – but indicate this with a balloon novelty or by staying off-group, please!]

if you don't plan on attending, I would prefer that you don't vote because it makes it easier to count votes, but I'd rather have a sacrificial button than skewed results.

OH, and before I forget - the location is Vigil Keep in Gendarran fields, so it will be both easy to reach from LA and right next to a waypoint. no mounts necessary!

While the event is a "pact reunion," friends and family of pact members (current, retired, AND deceased) are encouraged to attend!

Monday (April 15th) GW2 RP Event Poll

Just what it says on the tin! Need a theme (and confirmation that people plan to go), so cast your vote to help me out with both!

Event will run from 2pm to 5pm EDT, but nobody's required to stay the whole time.

Likewise, people are welcome to show up late - but it does feel awkward when there's only 1-2 people present at go time, so if you can be there from the start it's very much appreciated!

I already mentioned this on co-host and in the blrbo server, but I figured I'd post this here, too: would anyone be interested in a walking tour RP event? We would follow a set route around the map with multiple sightseeing points (hidden zones, nice vistas, lore landmarks, etc). My host character would be tasked with the safety of the group, so you could bring any level of character and still be safe from enemy mobs while getting map exploration XP on the way!

Additional details:

world boss maps are automatically ruled out (otherwise I'd go with Mount Maelstrom in a heartbeat

the tours will not go through any extremely bright zones, which rules out most of the shiverpeaks

mounts are not necessary, but you're welcome to have your character bring a beloved mount along as a companion

the tour will run for at least 2 hours, but the final duration will be decided once a map route has been chosen for the official announcement

since this is a tour, if you are not on time for the event, you may have to catch up to the group on your own, sorry!

GW2 Fight Night RP [NA]

Date: Sunday, 4 June 2023

Time: 6pm EDT [2hr before reset] to late

All are welcome to test their mettle, show their stuff, and earn bragging rights in The Pit! Fanciful outfits and costuming are encouraged - after all, what's a fight without a little flair?

Combatants may fight solo, in pairs, in a a free-for-all, or against a glamoured opponent of their choice (the current models are "Sand Lions" and "Jade Mechs"). There is also a special prize for those who can best your host, the vampire of the mists war, terror of fish, rifle aficionado...yours truly, the one and only Soft Sheep!

Don't worry about playing rough: our arena is equipped with state-of-the-art magic to mend all wounds obtained within the ring.*

For those with no interest in battle, there is still plenty to do! Cheer on your friends, bet on their odds, or relax at the nearby tavern that lies just out of hearing range of the arena.

Come early, on time, or late, and leave whenever you like; there's no roll call, no attendance, only good casual fun.

*the enchantment does not extend outside the ring, so keep your weapons sheathed, fists unballed, and teeth off of each other unless you are in the pit. Brawls outside the pit will result first in a warning, then in removal from the event.

And now, the fine print (good on you for getting this far!)

Wait your turn for fights, and be clear about who you're challenging.

Anyone has the right, for any reason, without shame, to refuse a challenge, and they don't owe an explanation for it. Do not heckle people for choosing not to fight! The only exception to this are established (IC) friends who have agreed (OOC) to needle each other.

There are two ways for a fight to start, and combatants must agree on how. Either all parties must /bow or /salute, or (preferable in large fights and required for npc fights), a chosen commentator will count down from 3 and the fight will start at "GO!"

Just like how nobody has to fight, nobody is required to actively RP - lurking is fine!

Leave your rivalries outside the door except as part of the show, e.g. playful taunts to your opponent. (Check in OOC first for anything actually mean. We're here to have fun.) If I have to tell you to cut it out more than twice, you're booted, and possibly banned from future events.

as always, respect for one another OOC is mandatory. Any harassment will result in an instant boot. You will also be barred from all future events.
