Samstag: Shibuya und Harajuku

Heute haben wir unsere Feuertaufe in Sachen Menschenmassen, denn es geht auf die große scramble crossing nach Shibuya; die riesen Kreuzung, auf der neben normalen Zebrastreifen über alle zuführenden Straßen auch diagonale Zebrastreifen mitten über die Kreuzung verlaufen. Vielleicht hat jemand von euch die Kreuzung schonmal im Film "Lost in Translation" gesehen. Ich hatte mir vorher etwas Gedanken gemacht, ob ich mit der Masse an Menschen wohl klarkommen würde, und meine Erwartungen werden sogar noch übertroffen - und das, obwohl es anscheinend eher ein "leerer Tag" auf der Kreuzung ist! Die Masse an Menschen ist unvorstellbar, der Geräuschpegel ist enorm, denn es kommt auch noch der Lärm von Werbetafeln und dem Verkehr hinzu. Der Times Square in New York ist nichts dagegen! Nach einigem Staunen überqueren wir die Kreuzung (auf meine Bitte hin hält Torben mich von hinten am Rucksack gepackt) und verschaffen uns vom Starbucks-Fenster im ersten Stock nochmal einen Überblick (leider habe ich hier nur gefilmt und keine Fotos gemacht). Wir wandern durch die umliegenden Straßen, in denen es neben Menschen vor allem japanische Leckereien wie Kuhzunge, Innereien und auch sonst jede Menge Fleisch gibt (und Torben überlegt schon wieder, ob es nicht mal wieder Zeit für einen Döner wäre, als wir an einem Kebabladen vorbeikommen). Wir lassen uns etwas treiben. Am Shibuya Hauptbahnhof finden wir auch noch die Statue von Hachiko, dem Hund, der sein Herrchen über Jahre immer zur Bahnstation zur Arbeit brachte und dort auch noch jahrelang wartete, nachdem sein Herrchen verstorben war - darüber gibt es einen tollen gleichnamigen Film!

Von Shibuya aus geht es weiter nach Harajuku, dem angesagten Jugendviertel. Der Altersdurchschnitt liegt hier schätzungsweise bei 25, und die Straßen sind brechend voll mit jungen Leuten. Es gibt jede Menge Klamottenläden, die von Schulmädchenoutfits über Gothic-Klamotten bis hin zu Prinzessinnenkleidern und Kimonos alles abdecken. Ich spreche drei Typen in schwarzen Kimonos mit geschminkten Gesichtern und glitzernden Haaren an, gebe Komplimente zu ihren Outfits und frage, ob ich ein Foto machen darf, aber da auch die Jugend hier anscheinend überhaupt kein Englisch lernt, wird das ganze ein extrem peinliches und letztlich auch erfolgloses Unterfangen.

Es gibt hier Läden voller Automaten, aus denen man kleines Plastikspielzeug in Plastikkugeln ziehen kann, so ähnlich wie Ü-Eier, und die sind extrem beliebt und überall. Bei den Harry Potter Schlüsselanhängern komme ich nur ganz kurz in Versuchung!

Wir gönnen uns einen Crêpe gefüllt mit Eis, Sahne, Erdbeeren und Cheesecake und sind irgendwann gesättigt von den Menschenmassen. Ab nach Hause ins ruhige Hotelzimmer!
