Flake's podcast - Lonely (Einsam)

Alone and lonely, not necessarily the same thing, Flake plays songs that deal with both (both 'lonely' a little bit more..)

Not too many anecdotes, several good songs, some very familiar (Alone by Heart at 0h47) some lesser known, but a great find (Kein Liebeslied by Tom Schilling at 1h02), and a few fun snippets:

The best protection against loneliness (1h05) are old friends, especially friends, where, when you don't see them for a year or two and then meet up again, everything is exactly the same as where you left it, that's something Flake thinks is really great ("Total Gut"). Boy or girl, male or female friend or a dog or cat, they can all be 'friend'. Flake's cat is a true friend, cat was already there before Flake met his wife (Flake giggles at this), and cat still lives with them. The cat is always there for him (he says 'Don't tell my wife' 😁), jumps on the couch and cuddles.

Band talk:

- Flake wears sunglasses on stage because he's embarassed (0h31) , but initially he didn't have prescription glasses in them, so he couldn't see well on stage; now he has good glasses, so can see clearly, except that he still can't see on stage because it's too dark 😎 (so when the lights go out between songs he often stumbles over something)

- In the old days going on tour (1h11)was pretty lonely as well, because, especially on long tours on another continent, they didn't hear from home for a long time (before mobile phones existed, mail was impossible because they travelled so didn't have a fixed address), nowadays it's a lot better; even though seeing someone in person is still better than by phone.

- (This is my fave mental image of today:) 0h41 Flake mentions (and plays) the band Dokken who fall in the category of Glam-Metal. Rammstein calls this 'Hair-Metal' because Glam-metal guys always have those blond fluffy hairdo's and backstage (Flake saw this at festivals), they all sit around, a hairblower each, all electricity sockets taken by hairblowers left and right. Rammstein drink a tequila together as a band ritual before a show, those bands blowdry together 😁

And then at 1h37 Flake starts talking about the loneliest place of all is the universe. In the universe there is nothing and infinity, just like Time ("Zeit") is infinite. Without Time other dimensions wouldn't exist. Time was always there and will always be (just like the Universe). If you could drive through the universe and there get to an edge, that would be the end of time. The universe is infinitely big, and therefore the chance to meet someone is infinitely small. Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics: all in one 💙

Time..."Zeit"... now what does that remind us of...(well, maybe it's a coincidence 😁 we'll now on 10-03 💙)
