War horns blared in the distance, the sounded of feet moving with a purpose strode through the camp. For most of the afternoon and late into the night before, the Hakkari war camp moved it was traveling or at least that is what Tali could only assume. A horn sounded and it seemed as though it was time for whatever new hell awaited her. She could hardly stand her body was broken, Tali still fought because she refused to even let one mention of the Tusk’s get out. Instead she was here bound atop a few wooden planks, her body once a light mix of turquoise and aqua blue shimmers of fur was now purple caked with blood and fresh scars. But it didn’t matter to her anymore; she just wished her purpose was done to these keratins. Her head hung low without really anything supporting her neck. Tali could hear the sounds of footsteps entering the tent erected for the warlord. She didn’t even open an eye when he came through the tent; she knew who those steps belonged to. Only Tali jerked her head up when she felt a profound sense of wrong in the tent. She had been sensing the wrongness of whatever black voodoo the hexers had been using to the prisoners but Tali had always assumed she was an asset to these Hakkari. She glowered in her defiance, if this is what Bethekk had in store for her then she would face her death with her teeth bared in defiance. This earned her a chuckle from the Hakkari warlord Kha'thax, “Ya still got spirit…..why don’t we break ya of dat.” And without warning he pulled a knife from his belt and in one fell swoop swung at Talizara’s leg.

The pain was overwhelming, it washed over her in a tidal wave as blood pooled from about the wound. Tali screamed out in agony, her voice dry and tears stained her face. She would have nearly passed out from the wound itself had it not been for voice calling in the distant. Familiar shouts. Da clan had come for her. “Idiots.” She growled, Kha'thax seemed to sense this too. “Well seems dat ya are worth something to dem after all.” Tali would have liked to banter just to keep the fool talking but as she stared out at him, hate boiling behind her eyes she felt another surge of pain and nausea hit her like a hurricane. Kha'thax, had slammed a dark crystal into her belly. It began to pulse with dark energy and Tali’s body crumpled. She felt her body being lifted from the ropes binding her only vaguely. Her body thrashed widely as a side effect of the dark crystal’s power. It would seem the crystal was binding her magic as well as causing immense pain. Tali cried out again but it would seem the pain was overwhelming, her body fell limp unconscious.

When Tali came to her body was on fire, not literally but it sure as hell felt like it. All around her dark magic swirled as if in a haze. She could hear the voices of the clan in combat and soft sounds of her friends nearest her. They were shocked and horrified, just what the hell had they done to her. It didn’t matter all that mattered was the pain in her chest and belly that seared through all of her thoughts. Then Tali heard it…the sounds of the man she had grown to care for and even love; Anansi had come with the others. “No.” she tried to get out but it came as gargled voice as if it didn’t belong to her. Another shock of dark magic hit her and screamed out in pure pain and anguish. Then something cold washed over her, Tali was convinced it was Bethekk come to take what was hers. ‘Fight little pup….come on…don’t let dere voodoo take ya.’ She could almost hear her father’s voice. As her bonds were cut Tali’s body tumbled downwards, the pain was receding, but her eyes remained shut. It hurt to much to even open them.

‘Oh Loa! What have dey done to ya?’ a familiar voice one that Tali knew she should but right now could not place.

Warm hands were about her soon, she tried to struggle but the scent of flowers and strange mixtures filled her nose. Anansi had caught her as she fell; it was as if someone had wrapped her in a floral blanket. The pain began to fade and a soft crack was heard, the crystal had shattered, and color filled the world once more. Tali kept her eyes shut however, she was whimpering. Her body was little more than a shell of what it was. Finally when she was strong enough to stomach it she opened her eyes, light nearly punched her in the eyes as she did. Her eyes took a few moments to focus but it would seem the battle hadn’t finished and Kha'thax was holding his own against some of the big league's in the clan. Anansi’s arms held Tali close, she short for a troll so it was no wonder that the mon could hold her in his arms. Placing a slender hand atop his chest she stared up at him, the big mon tilted his head down quizzically at her. Setting her down reluctantly Tali moved with purpose now, her steps staggered and waved but she knew that her magic while still slowly coming back to her; would be needed. Tali called forth a large gust of waters to help heal those injured. She was unsteady due to the loss of her leg, so most of her steps were hobbled and slow. Tali caught sight of the clan’s weakened state, but Kha'thax wasn’t doing well either. He looked to be rearing up for another attack, only his eyes flashed towards Anansi. Tali’s eyes widened in horror and without even thinking she lunged forwards, and felt the blade cutting deep into her back. Her body tumbled to the ground and she curled up at Anansi’s feet …broken…and bleeding.

The rest Tali couldn’t remember….somehow the clan had managed to push back the nightmare that was Kha'thax, but not before he took one last thing from the clan,…Zulanie’s arm. Tali’s form lay broken and bleeding before Anansi, the man stood stunned. It took a few moments for him to recover, but he scooped up the whimpering Troll and opened a few bottles and potions mixing them and then pouring them down Tali’s throat. The liquid seared and burned her throat, like sipping acid through a straw. Tali winced and turned her head inwards towards Anansi’s chest. The man held her close, but asked “Why?...why did you do this?”

“…couldn’t….let ….him…kill you.” Tali took great strains in speaking, each word coming out in rasped whispers.

“But why?” whispered the fading voice of Anansi.

‘Because….I love you.’

Nestorians that rioted during WWI were defeated by the Ottoman army, and as a result started moving towards Hamadan with guidance and help from British aircraft. Subsequently, Britain set up a 3000-tent settlement in Baquba, 50 km from Baghdad, for 40,000-50,000 Nestorians (SOURCE)

This made Nestorians more vulnerable to exploitation by the British. Living in tent camps dependent on the British, they couldn’t help but turn into potential mercenaries for future British claims in the region, rather than being ‘oppressed‘ people protected by the British.

Promising a muhtar (self-governing) state to Nestorians in Hakkari and Urmiye region, British wanted to build a buffer zone between the Ottoman Empire and its lands in Iraq and set up four battalions of Nestorians called ‘Levy forces‘ as the armed force of this buffer zone (SOURCE)

Identical to British forces in their uniforms and equipment, these forces staged attacks against people living in Hakkari, Şırnak and Van provinces, and particularly worked to drive the Kurdish population living along the Zab valley out of the region. In retaliation, Kurdish tribes began attacking British units in various areas starting in March 1919 (SOURCE)

Even though the British responded to these attacks with counter-attacks, they had to give up on their ‘buffer zone‘ plans based on the use of these ‘Levy forces’. Nevertheless, the British deep state continued its efforts to build a Nestorian state in Anatolia. During the conference held in San Remo, Italy from June 18 to 26, 1920, convened for the purpose of sharing Ottoman territory, Lord Curzon demanded a special settlement area for Nestorians. After this development, Nestorians decided to launch a military attack on Hakkari and then settle there (SOURCE)The attack that started on October 27, 1920 failed due to harsh winter conditions.
