My fic for day 6 of @hale-o-ween, for the theme "Harvest Festival." I always start craving monster stories around Halloween, and this write-in prompt reminded me how much I love the "let's throw a human sacrifice into the woods to die" trope :)

The Third Sacrifice: a Sterek horror AU

Stiles can see the writing on the wall. Everyone knows the Stilinskis are cursed, or magic, or both. He knows he’ll be picked as the third sacrifice—the one that dies for the sake of the harvest. But he doesn’t intend to let some ancient god rip his heart out, not if magic can help it. If only Derek, his estranged best friend, would stop hounding him about his plans to escape.

Day 1 - Horror - Campfire Stories

The pack builds a bonfire near the old Hale House and starts telling stories. Stiles tells a story about when he was a child slenderman came to him. Slenderman took him under his wing and taught him how to survive. Sometimes they still visit. The pack laughs it off until they hear steps and see glowing eyes just inside the trees.

Hale-o-ween 2022 - Day 2 prompt horror - Pumpkin Patch

Lydia’s heart pounded in her chest as she stood in the middle of Beacon Hills’ pumpkin patch. It was past three in the morning, if the position of the moon could tell her anything. The normally inviting rows of gourds felt different at night, far more dangerous. Her breath clouded in front of her as she scanned the area. Skeletal trees with only a few leaves remaining shuddered in the breeze and Lydia felt her arms tense as she scanned them for anything hanging. There was one thing she knew; if she came here alone, asleep, at night, then she wasn’t alone. Somewhere in the rows of pumpkins laid a body. In the woods beyond, its killer.

Hale-o-ween 2022 - Day 4 Prompt Horror - Haunted House

Haunted houses were a lot more fun when the ghosts couldn’t touch you, Stiles thought as he cowered in the hall closet, flashlight flickering. He tried his best to keep his breathing low and calm, but as he heard whatever ghost or demon that haunted this home walk past the thin doors of the closet, he couldn’t help the whimper that left his lips. The air cooled to the point of his breath clouding his vision, choking the light that chose the worst possible moment to flick back on. It was all he could do to keep his eyes open as he heard the door start to open.

Ok, note to self, when dealing with fae, trick was the wrong choice. “I’m sorry,” Malia hissed towards Kira. “I didn’t realize—“ She was cut off at the sound of tinkling laughter and the smell of blood approaching, growing overwhelming. Yeah. Tricks were a mistake.
