the relationship between you and hajime was like no other. even though he was only courting you now, he treated you as if you were the only woman in the world.

he picked you up from your house for days together, gave both you and your mother flowers whether there was an occasion or not, and visited you after days of not seeing each other. he would have his guitar in hand, giving you a warm smile as he handed you a flower.

"let me sing for you tonight, gorgeous." hajime would sing you songs of adoration, as each chord he played on his guitar matched his voice perfectly. the looks he gave you as he sang were filled with nothing more than genuine fondness, and you felt it.

on days you and hajime were apart, a letter neatly folded inside an envelope was delivered to your front door. every single letter you've received from hajime were words of his longing and endearment towards you, as he never failed to express how much he truly loved you.

"my love, I hope you've been well. I am deeply looking forward to seeing you again soon."

"no matter how bad the rainstorm, your smile is all I need for clear skies, darling."

"I'm half a man whenever I'm apart from you, my beloved."

he loved sending you letters, it was his love language. if he couldn't put his feelings into words, he was confident enough in his writing skills to express his love to you through ink on a piece of paper.

he did it not only to assure you of his undying love but also to prove to you that he was willing to wait. he was willing to spend his days writing letter after letter for you, as long as you knew him for his affection.

the only pieces of writing he never sends you were his poems. each line is made to rhyme with the previous one as they work together to convey your beauty as a person. he could never send you those, as he considered them keepsakes of the parts of you that you only allowed him to see.

all the while hajime will do anything to prove he's worthy of your love. even if it costs him the rest of his life, he'll do it. he needs you to know that you're deserving of someone who would wait a whole lifetime just to love all of you.

hajime loved you. and if the numerous kisses on the cheek and letters that reply to the ones he sent weren't enough, the look in your eyes was enough to tell him that you returned his feelings. he was confident that you loved him.

that was until your smile began to look dim when you spent your days with him. until the warmth in your gaze whenever you looked at him disappeared. and until you stopped replying to his letters.

the day five of his daily letters went un-replied to, he decided to visit your home. only to find out from your next door neighbor that you and your family moved out a week ago. he felt his heart drop as he heard the news. you left. and he didn't know. how could he? you never told him. the only signs you spared were your painfully obvious distancing of yourself from him.

despite his disappointment, his confidence in you loving him didn't falter. he was drowned in his thoughts. he refused to believe that all the days and late nights you spent together meant nothing in the end.

he continued to write for you. day by day, piles of unsent letters and unheard poems filled the corner of his bedroom, each of the envelopes slowly collecting dust from the outside. each letter still contained his commitment to you, and the hope that you will come back to him.

numerous times, he was told that he had to move on and that he could find someone new. he was too young to be throwing away his life for someone who packed their things and left without a word.

he never listened to them. though, he decided to finally write another letter to you. he promised himself it would be the last one for a while.

hajime signed the letter as he set his pen down beside the piece of paper. his gaze traveled to the farthest end of his desk, and then he stood up and left the room before the portrait of both of you with loving expressions could taunt him longer. the last time he felt your presence was in his dreams, and that was weeks ago.

until when was he going to put up with this? until his heart felt numb and until forever ended. he'll wait, for his own sake. you were the reason long before, and it's still you until today. he isn't planning on changing that.

his last letter now sat on top of the pile of unsent ones. that corner of his room now marked the love that was left in him that he could never give to anyone else.

his mother's filipino and taught him and he'd go tell them to oikawa so both oikawa and iwaizumi know tagalog (and a little bit of english bc the philippines' second language is english) cuz and its like their little secret when they talk in tagalog cause seijoh only knows a few curse words HAHAHA and maybe "ha?" (which is kind of a slang that means "what?") and "ano daw?" ("what did [pronoun] say?") or something bc they're pretty common tagalog phrases

and yall can decide on whether or not iwa actually taught kawa what "mahal kita" meant (it means ily) and says it all the time but says it means "i hate you" to cover up ORRRRR iwa just suddenly says it out of nowhere and kawa has to fucking stop! and stare at iwa in confusion

- growing up, when you weren’t at oikawa’s, you were probably at iwaizumi’s, who’s mom happily called you ‘balasang’ (i live for half-filipino iwaizumi mmmm)

- your first encounter with him took place when he greeted you at your doorstep with oikawa, who was looking for someone to play with them

- from that day on, the three (3) of you stayed as friends, attracted to the hip until high school

- the idea of falling in love with iwaizumi was something you were familiar with, but you thought it was normal to think about those things with one of your guy friends

- he cared a lot for you when compared to others, and his actions never failed to make you all flustered

- like how he gives you his jacket if he sees you cold, playfully pokes your nose- just all the small things left you giddy and feeling like you would explode

- basically, it took awhile for you to realize your crush on iwaizumi.. and the first person you told was oikawa

- oikawa was so proud of you for acknowledging your feelings, because he knew before you knew (!) it was his intuition

[yes ofc!! here's a wip that features a very small reference my fav HC aka iwa being half filipino]

He’s not a university student. 

And if he is, he’s either completely brilliant or the laziest academic you’ve ever seen.

He shows up a few times a week with some variation of the same three friends: the one with strawberry coloured hair whose standing order is a white chocolate mocha with no espresso (which makes it a white hot chocolate, though you never correct him); the second a tall, dark-haired young man with a smooth voice and expressive eyebrows that betray his impassive stare, who usually orders just a medium latte made extra hot and who sips it over a long period of time, never asking for a refill even though you’d be happy to give him one on the house; and the third is Iwaizumi Hajime. 

You know Iwaizumi from school, he’s a student in the same Intro to Basic Human Anatomy course as you are, and you recognize him the first time he comes into the cafe you work in, a few weeks into the school year. He doesn’t introduce you to his friends, but you learn their names thanks to taking their orders enough times: white chocolate mocha (no mocha) for Makki, extra hot latte for Mattsun, small dark roast for Iwa.

And a caramel macchiato for Oikawa.

Oikawa is the aforementioned worst (possible) student in the world.

You know this because while he might show up with some or all of the other three boys, he is the only one you’ve never seen crack a textbook while they sit at their table in the cafe. No, he generally is leaning back casually in his chair, talking for hours while the other boys work, even though they don’t seem to be paying much (if any) attention to him. 

So either he is the type of smart that means he doesn’t have to study, he’s the type of stupid who thinks he doesn’t need to, or he’s just not a student at all.

He doesn’t seem overly bothered by the fact that his friends aren’t paying attention to him, even when Mattsun puts his headphones in right next to him, even when Makki slumps down in his seat to hide (poorly) his face from his friend. Iwa seems to be the one most bothered by it though, and you overhear him threatening violence on more than one occasion if Oikawa doesn’t ‘shut the fuck up’ while he’s trying to study.

It all comes to a head right around midterm season. The four boys are at their usual table, and have been for most of the day, and you overhear an outburst. You peek you head around the espresso machine to catch a glimpse, and find Oikawa rubbing his forehead tenderly, Iwaizumi clutching a heavy kinesiology textbook in his hands which (you can only assume) he just used to bludgeon him.

“You’re so mean, Iwa!” Oikawa whines, nursing his wound. “Who else am I supposed to talk to?” 

“Literally anyone else! Unless you want me to fail this midterm and flunk the course and you can explain to my nanay why I have to repeat it next summer and also pay the tuition fees.”

Oikawa pouts, standing up from the table dramatically with his empty macchiato glass and stalking towards the counter.

weirdly specific aoba johsei headcanons

oikawa is a younger brother, but specifically in the way that his sister is like 7 years older than him (and she went to college), so he’s been raised as an only child (aka with his own room and bathroom, and no one else bothering him) since he was like 11.

iwaizumi is half filipino on his mothers side and he visits the philippines a couple times a year to see his cousins. he takes photos whenever he goes and makes sure he has photos of his cousins flipping off the camera to show oikawa.

hanamaki can play the flute, can ride a motorcycle, and can surf but can barely do basic math and confuses his left and right sides. he says he’s “focusing on real life skills” but that’s code for “i only remember what i want to know.”

matsukawa’s the only third year with a license, and he only has it because— since his parents were too busy working to provide for the family— he had to get it quick so he could drive his two younger siblings to places. he drives all the third years everywhere and pretends to hate it.

yahaba has a condition where his hair is naturally white, but he dyes it brown to fit in. he also started keeping it brown when he started admiring oikawa, and even started copying his skin and hair routines.

kyoutani has two pet dogs— one he found starving on the street and helped heal, and the other he found in a pound missing a limb— and he would die for them. most of the time when he’s skipping school, it’s for his dogs (or working a less than legal job to support them) but he’d rather die than admit that, so he keeps up the bastard persona(?) for it.

watari is the only person besides oikawa who has rizz, but he doesn’t even want it. watari has lots of girls flirting with him but he doesn’t want a relationship. he constantly brags to the third and second years about it and how he doesn’t even have to try.

kindaichi lives with his single mother and they are barely getting by. he’s a mommy’s boy but in a “i’ll literally die for my overworked, exhausted mother.” makki and mattsun noticed how he wouldn’t bring lunches, so they would be like “it’s so annoying how my mom packed me an extra sandwich. you can have it” or “the vending machine glitched and it gave me two bags of chips, you want it?”

kunimi has an incredibly strict schedule for sleeping and cannot sleep for more than half an hour without having an eye mask, tea, and either lofi music or asmr playing through his headphones. team sleepovers are hell for him because he gets constant (joking) shit about it.
