So Faerun has a Halloweenesque holiday called Liar's Night 🎃 It's #orctober , #tieflingtuesday AND Halloween so here are all of my Liar's Night pictures so far with this 1/2 orc tiefling family!

「 Happy Halloween from the most remote Niflheim base on Eos, where twisted and macabre experiments are brewing, my Prompto being part of them, with an ending not as happy as the one shown in Episode Prompto, revealing its true nature, a killing machine. An idea that I obviously had thanks to the lore of this character and images that I saw of demonizations and robots in this game, deciding to combine both to create the cosplay of today⚡

⠀The truth is that this week I haven't drawn, because I already have a drawing almost finished for next week, but it has been a very spooky week, of rest, creativity, costumes, makeups, supernatural stuff... and the usual, playing FFXV, Minecraft, playing the kalimba... In short, a common but halloweenesque week, so with a very good atmosphere and of course, immersed in the deepest part of my universe and also in the dungeons of FFXV (I've done two of the longest and most complicated ones: Pitioss and Steyliff second one!)🎃

It’s so catchy and I’m a pop girlie for sure 😂 Fun fact: apparently from20 helped write the chorus. This whole album didn’t disappoint. No skips. Every song was amazing. I’m even more excited for the other 2 parts of this album. THE BOYZ ARE BACK BABY. IM CRYING. This is probably one of my fav albums from them. Beyond Ciphers, Part 2

This list, then, is not a list of works that are shameful, but which I'd present with reservations.

Again, they are works that I would have used in my cipher articles, but whose reality is complicated enough that it would have been reductive to treat them out of context. -Myths and Legends of Our Own Land, by Charles M. Skinner. Last month we mentioned native American culture; but is there myth that sprang forth in the time of early European-American society? Yes, there is Paul Bunyan, but what of fairytale? It must exist; the homogenizing effect of the industrial revolution can't have cut it all off at the base. Well, this is such a book, in part. This book is wholly uncredited beyond its editor and smacks partly of Manifest Destiny and fiction. It includes some lovely spooky stories of unverifiable extraction, and even some early Forteana (the Moodus Noises feature in it, and so too that mysterious East Coast folktale element of "the glowing ruby on a mountain", which Hawthorne also used). It contains what might be Native American tales of local interest, but it is impossible to tell which are European "urban legend" and which are "stories told before Europeans came". I've run into one of its plots (the man traveling on his stagecoach until the Devil catch him) in other forms, which is of interest. It is, too, fascinating to find a story that is "The Devil Went Down to Georgia", but predating the song by decades and set in Dutch New Amsterdam with a black main character. There is one, The Green Picture, which I would lay money that H. P. Lovecraft scraped up and elaborated into The Shunned House. What I wish this work did was explain where its stories come from, who wrote them down or composed them, and give me more of a ground to stand upon. -Christmas in Ritual and Tradition by Clement A. Miles. This work purports to collect Christmas traditions throughout Europe. What it does is survey, effectively, traditions from Halloween to New Year's, and account for some theoretical results of calendar-shift and the crystallization of pre-Christian traditions into current practices. Many traditions are given, some of which you may know or perform, and some of which are instead Halloweenesque. Frankly, the book gives the impression that when it comes to European tradition (as opposed to Christian religion), Halloween and Christmas are the same. The veil is thin on that night; people wassail, mum, trick-or-treat; the immaterial is of great concern; etc. I do like that idea quite a bit; Christmastime as a time for telling ghost stories, for instance, is very traditionally Appalachian and simply not a thing the modern commercial holiday goes in for. However. I am not learned enough be certain, but I suspect that some of the origins/comparative tradition here is a bit bunk. Some is, most likely, true, but the purported connections between various traditions are not often well explained. It does give you fascinating items to look further into, such as the Wild Hunt playing a Christmas-time role, or various extremely granular local traditions. Those last are also difficult to verify, but they're interesting.
