Traumatic brain damage occurs because the victim receives a blow to the head that whips the head forward and back or from side to side (as in a car crash), causing the brain to collide at high velocity with the bony skull in which it is housed. This jarring bruises brain tissue and tears blood vessels, particularly where the inside surface of the skull is rough and uneven; damage occurs at (and sometimes opposite) the point of impact. Thus, specific areas of the brain - most often the frontal and temporal lobes - are damaged. This focal damage often can be detected through MRI and CAT scans. Some mild TBI and concussion symptoms may appear right away, while others may not appear for hours or days after the injury. Symptoms generally improve over time, and most people with a mild TBI or concussion feel better within a couple of weeks. Some people - unfortunately do not go on to recover as well as others and go on to suffer lifelong debilitating cognitive issues. A traumatic brain injury can have wide-ranging physical and psychological effects. Some signs or symptoms may appear immediately after the traumatic event, while others may appear days or weeks later. More-serious traumatic brain injury can result in bruising, torn tissues, bleeding and other physical damage to the brain. These injuries can result in long-term complications or death. Read more about mild traumatic brain injuries in our most recent post: Contusions, Concussions and Post-Concussive Syndrome - which you can find by following our BIO LINK. If you or a loved one has suffered a brain injury because someone was careless, call us today. What is a traumatic brain injury? 🧠A TBI is caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head that disrupts the normal function of the brain. The severity of a TBI may range from “mild” (i.e., a brief change in mental status or consciousness) to “severe” (i.e., an extended period of unconsciousness or memory loss after the injury). Most TBIs that occur each year are mild, commonly called concussions. 🧠A severe TBI may lead to death, or result in an extended period of unconsciousness (coma) or amnesia. 🧠Individuals will more likely than not experience significant changes in thinking and behavior, which can affect all aspects of a person’s life, including relationships with family and friends, the ability to progress at school or work, doing household tasks, driving, or participating in other daily activities. ✅Read more about traumatic brain injuries and the compensation that you or your loved one may be entitled to by visiting hamiltonlawyers.com/brain-injuries today or by calling us at 905-333-8888 24/7. #hamont #hamiltonlawyers #hamiltonlawyer #burlont #burlingtonlawyers #hamiltonlawyer #hamiltonlawyer #caraccident#tbi #disabled #hamiltonbraininjuryassociation #brain #concussion #injury #traumaticbraininjury #compensation #health #rehabilitation #tbisurvivor #trauma #hamiltonontario (at Hamilton, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CN3OFq5p53c/?igshid=1blpshgwbi6u

Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a progressive and fatal brain disease associated with repeated traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), including concussions and repeated blows to the head. In CTE, a protein called tau misfolds and malfunctions, causes other proteins to misfold, and sets off a chain reaction where this malfunctioning tau slowly spreads throughout the brain, killing brain cells. Every person diagnosed with CTE has one thing in common: a history of repetitive hits to the head. CTE is most frequently found in contact sport athletes and military veterans. CTE has been found in individuals whose primary exposure to head impacts was through tackle football, the military, hockey, boxing, pro wrestling and more increasingly, in mixed martial arts fighters (MMA). Currently, CTE can only be diagnosed after death through brain tissue analysis. Doctors with a specialty in brain diseases slice brain tissue and use special chemicals to make the abnormal tau protein visible Read our recent article about head trauma and CTE by visiting us at hamitlonlawyers.com/blog today. A traumatic brain injury is when sudden trauma by an external force causes temporary or permanent damage to the brain - such as a motorcyclist hitting their head off the pavement - causing the brain io move inside the skull. The brain in turn, suffers from a disruption in normal function which can last hours...or in worst case scenario, a lifetime. Symptoms can be wide ranging and can be mild or very serious and can be caused in serious car accidents, motorcycle accidents, trucking, pedestrian or bicycle accidents, for example. Hemiplegia is a condition caused (among other things) by brain trauma or spinal cord injury that leads to paralysis on one side of the body. It causes weakness, problems with muscle control, and muscle stiffness. The degree of hemiplegia symptoms vary depending on the location and extent of the injury. The definition comes from the Greek 'hemi' = half. Hemiplegia can affect either the left or right side of your body. Whichever side of your brain is affected causes symptoms on the opposite side of your body. People can have different symptoms from hemiplegia depending on its severity, which can include: ✅ muscle weakness or stiffness on one side ✅ muscle spasticity or permanently contracted muscle ✅ poor fine motor skills trouble walking ✅ poor balance ✅ trouble grabbing objects Read more about hemiplegia in our current article - LINK IN BIO If you or your loved one has suffered a brain or spinal cord injury which has led to hemiplegia - call us today, provincewide at 1-844-LALANDE or local in the Hamilton/GTA at 905-333-8888. #hemiplegia #hamiltonlawyers #hamont #wheelchair #wheelchairstyle #wheelchairlife #spinalcordinjuryawareness #wheelchairfitness #spinalcordinjury #spinalcordinjuryrecovery #sciawareness #quadriplegia #paralysis #paraplegia #hamiltonhealthsciences #sci #Tetraplegic #para #tbi #disabled #hamiltonbraininjuryassociation #brain #concussion #injury #traumaticbraininjury #tbisurvivor #trauma (at Hamilton, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNasRRdpbeI/?igshid=wkc0pqf5xq9u
