Chapter 144: A

Feel free to copy and paste my summaries to other sites as long as you give me credit.  Please keep in mind when copying and pasting that I may continue to correct errors and tweak details after it is posted

Pg 1: Cover page of Kaneki

Pg 2: The fight between Juuzou and Kaneki is reimagined as a typical shounen tournament arc fight within an arena. An announcer commentates while Kaneki’s friends watch the fight and speculate on who will win. Kaneki tells Juuzou that he is not going to hold back and Juuzou replies that he has things he needs to protect too. Touka clasps her hands and wills Kaneki to win (much like a cliché female lead would). Kaneki thinks that this is the only way ghouls and humans will be able to live alongside each other and prepares to fight. (note that this imagined fight is labeled “Chapter 143: Kaneki Dies”)

Pg 3: Kaneki is shown beaten on the ground in the same manner that was shown in chapter 143 of :re. This time Kaneki is surrounded with speech bubbles urging him to continue to fight (things that would have been said if he had fought in a tournament by spectators).

Pg 4: The scene changes to Haise greeting Juuzou (using the exact same panel as chapter 11 of :re). Instead this time Haise impales Juuzou with his kagune, to the shock of Hanbee, Urie, and Mutsuki. Haise turns towards them and says that it looks like he killed him.

Pg 5: The scene changes again to inside Kaneki’s mind, where all of his past iterations are together. Haise presents the scene of him killing Juuzou to the onlooking Kaneki’s. White-haired Kaneki tells him it looks good and Associate Special Class Sasaki asks if he’s kidding. Eyepatch Kaneki tells Juuzou that it isn’t Juuzou’s fault, it’s his. The child Kaneki’s watch as #240 (Kaneki after his fight with Arima) cries and Associate Special Class Sasaki tells him to go back to Cochlea. Haise asks the others what they should have done then. The Kaneki’s surround the broken Kaneki in the present.

Pg 6: Associate Special Class Sasaki tells Kaneki that it was all his fault and asks why he went back by himself. Kaneki says that he was with a huge squad and couldn’t have just told him that he had a bad feeling and wanted to go back. One Kaneki tells him that it was his fault for being weak. Haise tells Kaneki that two opponents wearing Arata would pose trouble. Kaneki muses that back then with Amon he was destroyed too. Eyepatch Kaneki says that Irimi and the others should have sent a transmission if something was happening. The Kanekis wonder if the Stopgap squad was killed. Eyepatch Kaneki asks Associate Special Class Sasaki if he thinks that if he took everyone back with him if he would have won. Associate Special Class Sasaki tells him that things would have at least not ended like they did. Kaneki says that Furuta is right and when it counts the most he chooses to fight alone and the worst result happens, like it did with Anteiki (in chapter 143 of the original TG).

Pg 7: Kaneki wonders what his participation in the Anteiku raid even did because in the end Yoshimura died, Anteiku was destroyed, and his friends all separated. He wonders if he had run away with everyone if he could have worked with at the new café with everyone. Haise tells the others that he’s lonely and since they’re Kaneki they don’t understand how he feels. He says that he’s glad that he got to meet the Quinx even if he was just playing house with them. Associate Special Class Sasaki tell him that if he hadn’t met him then Shirazu wouldn’t have died. Kaneki asks if he was by his side in the Rosenwald operation if he would have been able to save him. Associate Special Class Sasaki says that Urie and the others were by his side instead. Kaneki tells him not to blame them. Associate Special Class Sasaki kicks over a chair (parodying the way he kicked over a chair during interrogation) and begins to yell at the other Kaneki.

Pg 8: Haise says that he would have been satisfied if he could continue living with everyone in the chateau and continuing to work with Arima and Akira. Eyepatch Kaneki tells him that he doesn’t think that he could live like that forever. They begin discussing why they lost again. One Kaneki says that if he would have noticed that Mutsuki was off since the Rue Island operation then the Goat base might not have been destroyed. Another Kaneki asks about Cochlea and if he would have been fine letting everyone die. A different Kaneki shouts that he can’t save everyone.

Pg 9: The Kanekis flash back to the fight to see why he lost. He thinks that it was likely because of Hanbee because he gave Juuzou such good backup. He says that the fact that he sacrificed himself to get an attack in was shrewd. Kaneki cracks his finger and says that they should just kill Hanbee. Associate Special Class Sasaki shouts at him that the fight is already over. A Kaneki says that in reality their limbs are gone and an important person is going to be killed soon as well as the ghouls in their organization. One Kaneki says they should have decided everything with a tournament and the other tells him that they would have lost a tournament too. Another Kaneki argues that the reality will break them so they are trying to blend it with fantastical imaginings. Associate Special Class Sasaki and Kaneki continue to fight and Haise steps in to get them to calm down.

Pg 10: Kaneki thinks that he won’t get to see Touka again. He wonders if he is going to die and why it turned out like it did. He thinks that he wants to see Touka.

Pg 11: The Kanekis all say they want to see Touka again too. One says that he hadn’t decided on a name for the child and since Touka’s bad at Japanese she might give it a weird name. Kaneki thinks that he can’t move a finger or toe but his head is attached and he can breathe and bite and crawl.

Pg 12: The images at the top all show Kaneki during iconic moments throughout Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul :re. He decides that he needs to eliminate all the things around him in his way (note that here he decides that he is going to kill and eat humans, something that he has never done before). He thinks that he must press forward like a centipede.

Pg 13: Kaneki springs forward and bites Hajime’s face off. The Oggai run towards Hajime and Hajime wonders what happened to his face. He is impaled in the head by Kaneki’s kagune.

Pg 14: The Oggai panic and begin to run towards Kaneki. They are confused about fighting him because they were given orders by Furuta to only capture him, not kill him. Kaneki turns his kagune on them and begins to hack the Oggai  to pieces.

Pg 15: Kaneki slaughters the Oggai and thinks that he wants to go to Touka.

Pg 16: Furuta’s men feel the ground trembling and wonder if it’s an earthquake.  Around the corner a gigantic kagune tendril snakes out. They see that it is a mass of Kanekis. A man is pierced through the head and Furuta comments that it looks like Kaneki ate the Oggai like he was supposed to. He shouts at his men to not run. (note that Furuta tells Kaneki of his plan back in chapter 101 of :re)

Pg 17: Furuta tells Kaneki to eat up and is impaled. Furuta calls Kaneki his little dragon. The scene changes to Miza noticing a large sound from where she is.

Pg 18: The surface is shown and explosions from underground appear. The side features what is likely Kaneki’s thoughts, just the letter “A” repeated.

Tokyo Ghoul re Chapter 142

Can the fandom unite in our love for Hinami Fueguchi? She is a blessed human being and must be protected.

But Hinami is badass af!!! She totally made Touka leave and is fighting against Suzuya and Hanbee. I have no idea why Ayato didn't show up but oh well. Someone else did and I think it's Kaneki due to the kagune and his little icon was gone from the searching for food group.
