let’s all take a moment to remember cori’s first kill this season, way back in the first arc, when she smashed a mech with a giant mace and then got a photo of her posing next to it to send to her dad

“you hit him first. you hit him on the backswing” is going to be emblazoned in my mind forever

i love when the storytelling in this show hits the kind of rhythm that it hit in that scene—the smooth handoff of the setup and the swing. (metaphorically and literally.)

and the music went tf off. fucking incredible. i’m really excited to hear more as the season develops—the soundtrack is getting denser and weirder with every new song.

also, asepsis taking devotion’s place in the mech when cori kills her dad… the embodiment of scouring purity replacing devotion to drive that swing, just as a triumphant moment is revealed to be tragic… i love the thematic meta bullshit enabled by divines. (not trying to draw a causal relationship there, but i think it’s interesting to compare devotion and asepsis and their approaches to in-groups and control. and to think about how much of the cult of devotion relies on ideas of purity.)

anyway playing a character who is so baby and so full of hubris and optimism in a game that you know is gonna fuck them up is a true joy and i wish sylvi many more episodes of handpicked horrific consequences

It had been a few decades now, since Guisguarde’s failure at a secondary country for the empire; the remnants of the former colony being divvied up between the Dawnflame archduchy and the Badlands, though both archduchies formally.

Two decades since the outbreak plague found alongside the eastern archduchies and some of Benevavol, the bordering country to the East’s own lands there was found and stamped out. (Thankfully it was merely a fertilizer mixup, meant for moonleaf getting into the regular grain.) Most of you probably weren’t even born then, and yet here you all are.

Two decades since the last major incident, and forty years before that was Guisguarde’s fall on the Sibavaire continent. All has been peaceful these last few years, especially with close ties between Meulyan and Benevavol becoming tighter and tighter by the passing day. Many even speak of unification between the two nations.

Really, it was no wonder then, that one day a school would open up, one meant for handpicked young adults to foster their talents and become the best of the best. You remember how awe-inducing it was, to open the letter signed with the Empress-Queen’s own wax sigil inviting you to enroll…

Right?

Hey, it’s a new sort of story! It is absolutely related to @lazarish’s, they’re like story-cousins. S-pop is a parody of jpop/kpop, planted into San Myshuno to give it maximum placement in (my version of) the Sims World, with many of the same pitfalls and triumphs of k-pop today.  Elle put together a glossary of terms you used you can find here, and I have a sort of “deep dive/primer” page on S-pop here [with in-universe writings because I am That kind of person I guess.]

Star x Crossed follows Avalon Lang as she prepares to debut the first S-pop group under her new company, handpicking members and whittling a list of 21 girls down to 7... and then beyond, into their hopeful rise into the upper echelons of S-pop.

This is a story that still takes place definitively within the sims for me--occults, goofy happenings, Starlight Accolades and all. As such, I’d rate it PG-13 /  T for Teen. It may touch on some dark themes occasionally but I think it’ll still be very light and fun.

My current plan is for there to be 3 NSB posts a day, 2 Star X Crossed, and then in the mornings eventually a new gameplay once I get a little farther along in each episode here. I also hope that easing back into storytelling and editing with Star X Crossed will let me also ease back into working on AWL...

Anyway, if you’re interested, I hope you stick around! I’ve been having a lot of fun with this part of my brain, so I hope it comes out just as well.

Do you really think George and Alex are best friends or is he just hanging with him out of sympathy. I just can’t imagine someone as talented as George being friends with Alex. Look at Max he is only friends with talented drivers (Lando & Daniel). These are the people who can push him to be a better driver. What has Alex to offer besides angry and disappointed fans (if he still got them). If George wants to be a better F1 driver he should hang out more with Max for an example. Someone who is not so emotional, talented and fun. Same goes for Lando and Charles. Why are these also hanging out with Alex. What has he to offer to them? Sometimes it’s good to ditch someone to better yourself. I really hope this season they will hang out more with Max so he can teach them how to be a better driver?

This might sound harsh but in a sport like F1 you have to put yourself first. If someone has nothing to offer you, you have to put him aside. That’s why I’m happy this race season they won’t be distracted by Alex and can hang out with Max more.

I want to be a writer. I’ve always liked stringing together sentences and words in a unique way that makes people feel. I like how words can not be about a certain topic, yet be about a certain topic. I’ve never hated writing essays as much as the people around me, sometimes even find comfort in just writing down a bunch of information from time to time. there’s nothing that can be questioned about it, you know? it cannot be questioned in the way a feeling can be questioned.

my best friend hates writing. she is dyslexic and has always had trouble reading, especially long words. “they dance in front of my eyes,” she once told me. she is creative and funny and always comforts me when I’m down and sometimes when I just need to rant, she stays quiet and it somehow feels like a love letter. how simple of a love language it is to feel understood.

I’ve also had bad friends in the past. I’ve been called words that somehow ended up feeling like my whole identity. I wouldn’t stop being around those people, though. you know when you listen to a song on repeat and at some point you just get so tired of it? I just kept on listening to it. it made me physically sick. I would cry the whole night and the next morning I would fold up the hurt and hide it in the back of the closet as if it never even existed.

years later, I move abroad and whenever I feel homesick, I call my best friend. I tell her the way I feel, how all those words I’ve been told are now the words I tell myself. they are like a mantra in my head. the first thing she makes me do when I come back home is unfold the hurt I hid in the back of the closet all those years ago.

my best friend will never help me become a better writer. she has nothing to offer me in that aspect, at all. never has and never will. I am not a very creative person. I once tried to use Photoshop, but after an hour I gave up in frustration. I have nothing to offer her when it comes to that.

I know the way my life revolves around certain things, will never compare to the way George and Alex and other drivers lives revolve around the sport. I don’t mean to compare my own life to that, because I know it would be a lie. yet, I feel like there is comfort in unison. there is comfort in being understood and there is comfort in listening and understanding someone else. there is comfort in finding a deeper connection and helping each other develop along the way. I never looked at my friends and wished they could help me become a better writer, because I know they are helping me become a better person. everyone is free to have their own definition of friendship. I’m not going to judge you for your definition, Anon. but to me, this is what friendship is. I don’t mean to share my personal experiences in a way to change your opinion, but more of a way to make you understand how the experiences I’ve had have changed the definition for me. note: thank you for requesting! this was the first one in my inbox actually. because i only write for female readers, the prompt will be altered slightly to “is he/she really just a friend?”

You and Spencer had known each other since the academy. Both of you were top of your class, shining stars with bright futures ahead of you in your professors eyes. From the very first time you two had been paired up for a project and completed it with outstanding results, your professors knew instantly that you two would make a great team.

Jason Gideon handpicked you from a class of intelligent agents. It was exciting to be thrown into these new cases; yet exhausting when it came to hunting down murderers, and watching gruesome deaths play out right before your eyes. It was comforting to be on the same team with Spencer, who’d developed into your best friend.

You didn’t say it. You didn’t think you had to. Spencer was your best friend, and you were pretty sure he considered you to be his. He very rarely allowed anyone else to mess with him the way you do. Only you could possibly get away with playfully ruffling his hair or teasingly messing up his toy rockets. He was particular about those types of things, and he’d opened up to you about it before, and you were careful to never accidentally cross a line.

Lines and boundaries held your friendship up — or so you thought. Gideon never had any questions about the closeness or nature of yours and Spencer’s relationship, but everyone else felt the need to decide for themselves how close you really were. Morgan was a flirty guy, and consistently made flirty remarks about the two of you hooking up; to which you blushed at the inappropriate jokes, and Spencer rolled his eyes while shoving him away. Penelope squealed constantly about how adorable you two were, and always seemed to place you two in the same category.

Even Hotch had caught on, despite the fact that there was nothing to really catch onto. He warned you two about being extra careful in the field, and gave some small speech about how he didn’t want to have to break up the teams dynamics. JJ, the one person you’d thought wouldn’t join their side, had eventually admitted that she thought you and Spencer had been dating from the first day she’d met you.

Elle was the wild card. At first, you couldn’t tell if she really cared or if she was just bored and found these discussions somewhat entertaining on the plane ride home. After she was shot, though, her demeanor on just about everything changed. She didn’t want her life to slip away from her before she even realized what she wanted, and that’s why she was leaving.

What you didn’t realize, however, was that she had some parting words for Spencer to hear.

You weren’t exactly eavesdropping. You just so happened to be heading towards the kitchen area of the office when you overheard their voices.

“Reid,” Elle’s voice cut through the air. It was no longer soft and playful, but rather cold and determined. “We need to talk.”

“About what?” You wanted to laugh at his response, at the obliviousness you knew would be portrayed on his face.

Pressing yourself up against the wall, you waited. “You know what.” There was a long pause. For a minute, you thought it was something serious or deadly. When she finally spoke again, your body let out a breath of relief. “About you and Y/N.”

Almost as quickly as the relief had come, it evaporated into curiosity and concern. Apparently, Spencer felt your confusion too, voicing your exact thoughts out loud. “What about me and Y/N?”

“Reid, come on,” Elle laughed. You didn’t know what was so amusing about this, but all of your coworkers were fascinated with the idea. It was quickly reaching your breaking point. “I’ve seen the way you look at her, and we’ve all seen the way she looks at you. Are you really not going to tell me?”

Your chest tightened, and your hands balled up into fists. You knew your coworkers would stop if you genuinely asked them to, but you didn’t know how to even approach that topic. Each time someone mentioned it, your mind wandered to a place you didn’t even knew existed until Morgan had first brought it up. You subconsciously thought about all of perks of you and Spencer dating. How different or how not-so-different your dynamic would be from how it is now. Would you guys kiss, or would he prefer to stick to the occasional hug?

“Tell you what? What do you want me to tell you, Elle?” Spencer was quickly going to snap. You could tell by the pointed tone in his voice, and the muffled sound of feet shuffling away.

“Is she really just a friend?”

You waited. You held your breath, fighting not to slip against the wall and accidentally reveal your hiding place.

“Yes,” Spencer answered. It took him a few moments, in which your eyes had grown wide with fear, but you were quickly relaxing at his words. “We are really just friends.”

so yesterday i was watching criminal minds again (wow shocker) again for the first time in like,,,, 3 months??? [that’s not important] on weTV (which was just so happening to air reruns from season 3) and there was one thing that really stuck out to me that i didn’t necessarily think about much until i went into work today

season 3, episode 15 “a higher power” shows the team going up to pittsburgh to investigate a spike in suicides rates in the community under the suspicion that it’s the work of a serial killer (okay, cool, normal fucked up every day BAU life, nothing really sus there)

but what really kinda just hit me out of the blue today was just.... how unaffected jj was by the whole case in general

the team is maybe at most, a few hours away from her hometown, with the main topic of the case being surrounded by multiple suicides and taking her past into consideration (she’s literally a stone’s throw away from her hometown where she lost her sister to suicide) and yet she just.... remains unbothered... she never toys with the necklace around her neck or ever seems uncomfortable despite this case hitting way too close to home

i guess just rewatching this episode really just... opened my eyes into how underdeveloped jj was character wise for a really long time (i mean really we know more about gideon and elle in season 4 than we do jj and they had been gone for at least a season and a half at this point)

i mean.... i guess in in heat we get... something??? when we find out that she’s been seeing will for nearly a year?? cool i guess??? and we do get an episode named after her but really it doesn’t tell us much about her background or dive more into her story other than “oh strauss is forcing me to leave that sucks” but it doesn’t really go much into detail about anything beyond that

oh hotch handpicked her to join the unit but i don’t think it ever gets any deeper than that (when it should have!!!!??!!) [correct me if i’m wrong]]

by season 5 we have a detailed idea about every other character on the team (with the only exception possibly being garcia but i digress)

we know hotch has a younger brother that looks absolutely nothing like him and said brother wants to be a chef

we know rossi came back to the bau because of a cold case that’s gone unsolved for twenty years

we know every year, morgan goes home for his birthday and visits the grave of the john doe he found when he was a teenager

we know way too much about reid and his issues jesus christ

fucking hell we even know about emily’s dark past, how much it still haunts her even before we get the ian doyle arc

even ashley seaver has a deeper storyline than jj at this point like ffs

jj.... well..... she has that boyfriend down in louisiana ig?????

and that’s what becomes annoying

jj’s character really isn’t developed past more than i have a boyfriend and i’m pregnant up until maybe, and that’s a really generous maybe, the episode will gets held hostage at a bank and damn near gets himself killed (we see her with henry.... again, i’m being very generous here)

really, we don’t see jj get any sort of deep development the rest of the team has been getting until 200

i loved seeing her finally get some depth, for her character to finally be treated as if she’s an important asset rather than a pretty face that deals with media

she becomes a character we can sympathize with!!! she has issues and fears and traumas!!! finally!!!

and then they keep expanding on her as the seasons continue!!! like yes!!! this is what i wanted from the beginning!!! jj deserved this!!!

and then

it all comes crashing and burning into a pile of shit with five words

all that character development they had spent building up over the years, after finally starting to get the ball rolling to making jj a solid character the writers decided “,,,,,,let’s just boil her down romantic feelings she kept hidden for....reid.” (of all people????? confusion)

the biggest sigh i just let out

first of all, that’s such an overdone trope in hollywood and in modern times we’re sick of it we need way more flavor than that

second of all it just..... ruins jj’s character right there on the spot

a majority (maybe i’m just generalizing) but most people in the fandom are reid stans and of COURSE they’re going to be absolutely livid at that bitch jennifer jareau pulling that card on their favorite little twink

it makes her look like a bitch

and it literally makes no sense whatsoever

they went on one “date” once in season 1 and it’s never mentioned again until jj confides to emily in the bathroom in the first episode of season 14

they have about as much romantic chemistry as two planks of wood

what was so wrong with jj and reid being best friends/having a sibling like relationship (which would have been a big deal for jj!!! to let someone that close again!!!! but no!!!!!!! jj is woman!!!!!! reid is man!!!! they must have romantic chemistry!!!!!! gross)

why did jj have to have hidden romantic feelings for reid

please tell me why that was a thing

and then the writers (probably sensing that they in fact fucked up big time) just kinda.... brush it off in 15

“u were my first love” reid: “oh okay (is sad for the duration of the season)”

and it was overall a completely useless and pointless arc that just set out to completely ruin jj and it’s so infuriating
