Hanzo is a character from Overwatch which was added to Heros of the strom [December 12, 2017] Backstory [Skin] : Like most Farstriders, Hanzo feels more at home in the wilds than within the walls of Quel'Thalas. Those Blizzcon skins get weird when you know that Illidan is hopelessly in love with Tyrande but she marries his brother Malfurian. So does that make them a stealth Symmzo addition?

Well they did give Hanzo a WoW skin in Heroes of the Storm, but it’s kind of a generic “Farstrider” skin and not modeled on any character in particular. I think Blizzard tends to go with “Rule of Cool” and “Who have we not given a skin to in a while” when it comes to coming up with new skins. The only time we see skins really tie in to the lore of a character is in the Archives event, and in lore update character challenges like D.Va’s NanoCola challenge, Baptiste’s combat medic challenge, and Ana’s Bastet challenge. Every other event is like “Halloween Spooky Wackiness!” “Look at these cute wintery skins!” “It’s Lunar new year and our skins are either way too busy or way too plain there is no in between,” “Summer fun!” and “It’s the anniversary event and McCree gets a detective skin BECAUSE I SAY SO.” 

...I’mma be honest I’m 90% sure they gave Genji an Illidan skin so he can finally have a fully shirtless skin and let me just say god bless.

Post-Opening Ceremony Announcements:

1: We will not apologize for adding Hanzo.

2: I don’t want to hear about adding more dragons for at least three months. That doesn’t seem like too much to ask for, but I already know it is.

3: We will not apologize for the Farstrider Hanzo skin, either.

4: We will absolutely not be reworking sylvanas to be as badass as that Warcraft cinematic.

5: We will add Reinhardt when we’re good and ready for him.

6: We will not be adding Moira for at least a year. I can’t believe I need to say this literally an hour after we’ve learned she existed.

7: Matt Mercer did NOT tell us he could sing like that, so we are already working on a music-themed Rehgar skin.

8: I know you may be concerned after that WoW cinematic, but don’t worry. Anduin will be a priest. We won’t cram him into his daddy’s armor and make him pretend to be a paladin.

9: Also, we will add Anduin after we get a goddamn Draenei and Tauren. Also after it’s been long enough that the voice interactions with Varian won’t make me cry.

10: We will not apologize for adding Hanzo.
