also vividly recall how around this time i envied harrison koisser and billie jd porter's relationship/engagement, how #couplegoals they were to me and how i was in literal, physical anguish because i didn't have a relationship like that. and then they broke up less than 2 years later. nothing changes huh.

Dark Side Release Review
Another album review this week, with Peace’s new album ‘Kindness Is The New Rock and Roll’
Tumblr media
Three years since their second album ‘Happy People’ and Peace are back! They have always liked to express their thoughts through their albums and this is no exception. The band’s philosophy to “choose love” comes across so strongly in the album, it might as well be put up in skywriting for the whole world to see. With the state of the world currently, there is probably not a better message to express through music, but to display it throughout a whole album is risky. With an album focusing solely on mental health and choosing love over hate, Peace definitely have picked some real topics, but will it just be repetitive?
The album starts with their second single from the album ‘Power’, an absolute banger, full of guitars from start to finish! This is definitely going to be a crowd favourite when they play it live. ‘Power’ is followed by the album-titled track ‘Kindness Is The New Rock and Roll’. A slower ballad, telling people to show kindness and “make war on war” with an added depth of gospel backing singers. It has a very different sound to Power.
‘Silverlined’ is another slower song, this time focusing on mental health struggles which frontman Harrison Koisser has mentioned previously to the album release. “Under pressure but I can take the strain” and “cause I’m strong inside, I’m silverlined” suggest the feelings felt by Harrison whilst he was focusing on improving his mental health. There is a pretty unnecessary guitar solo towards the end of the song, and it’s at this point I started to worry about what was still to come.
Singles ‘You Don’t Walk Away From Love’ and ‘From Under Liquid Glass’ again provide a similar feeling to the first two songs. ‘You Don’t Walk Away From Love’, another guitar-driven anthem-wannabe is followed by a slower heartfelt song, this time focusing on Harrison Koisser’s struggle with mental health, which was released as a single to support MQ Mental Health Charity.
“Don’t give up on me yet” is repeated throughout ‘Magnificent’ whilst the anxiety-focused ‘Angel’ deliver further chapters in the mental health struggle of Harry. The album finishes with ‘Shotgun Hallelujah’, ‘Just a Ride’ and ‘Choose Love’, three further songs devoted to either the topic of mental health or the idea of creating a world full of love.
Peace have touched on two topics which couldn't be more relevant in today’s society. But to devote an entire album to them, even a short 34 minute album, still ended up sounding repetitive. They also haven’t managed to produce the same quality seen on ‘Happy People’ and ‘Peace’. Peace are definitely back, but I can’t help feeling slightly disappointed.

A LITTLE UPDATE!
Hello! Okay! So! Life has been hectic, hence me being absent from this blog! However, in the time I’ve been away, I’ve developed a few new favs, and you know what that means- I want new plots!
Things I want:
Heather Baron-Gracie and Ciara Doran, with me playing Ciara
A line where one of us plays Harrison Koisser (up to discuss the other character in the line)
Maybe a line with a Harry Styles?? I would not play Harry so you would have to but I’m willing to discuss who you’d want me to play
Those are the main ones right now! But also I’m willing to discuss other lines and plots too! So if you’re into any of those ideas PLEASE MESSAGE ME either here or on my GH which is ingridgoeswriting !!

Peace at Engine Rooms, Southampton
Supporting their brand new album ‘Kindness is the New Rock and Roll’, Peace were back on tour. I caught their show in Southampton at the Engine Rooms. I have listened to peace for years, but tonight was the first time I have ever seen them live. I have even bumped into Harrison Koisser in a bar but never seen Peace play live. Speaking to one of my friends recently who has seen Peace a ridiculous number of times described them as “one of the best indie bands live” and he was not wrong. Peace delivered a truly incredible performance made up of 19 songs taken from their various albums.
Tumblr media
After the release of their new album, I was a little disappointed. It was something slightly different from Peace and personally, the album didn’t live up to the same quality as their previous two. However, their live performance brought their album to life and you could see every detail that went into the songs. They included seven songs from their latest album in the set including incredible performances of ‘Magnificent’ and ‘Silverlined’.
The presence that Harrison Koisser has on the stage is incredible. Unlike a lot of frontmen, he does not come across as cocky or arrogant, he just managed to fill the stage. The whole band creates an atmosphere which makes their live performances even better.
Rather than an encore, Peace decided to do something that a lot of bands decide to do, leave their lead singer on stage. Harrison performed truly incredible versions of ‘Float Forever’ and a request earlier in the evening from a fan, ‘World Pleasure’. This just showed the extreme levels of talent he has. The band came back on stage to finish their set with ‘Lovesick’, ‘Kindness is the New Rock ‘n’ Roll’ and ‘Bloodshake’.
It was one of those sets you just do not want to end. Packed full of incredible songs from a variety of different Peace releases just showed the quality Peace always deliver. With their incredible live performance just adding to the experience I would fully recommend catching Peace wherever they are playing. With a number of festivals coming up they won’t be too far away from you!
