Three actors from Dark Shadow also performed in ground breaking theater productions for their portrayal of gay life.
Joel Crothers - January 28, 1941 – November 6, 1985
Dark Shadows - 166 episodes as Joe Haskell & Nathan Forbes
In 1982, Crothers originated the role of Ed Reiss, the lover of Harvey Fierstein’s character Arnold. At the time, brothers was the best known actor in the cast due to his work in Dark Shadows and other soap opera, so he got top billing.

Keith Prentice - February 21, 1940 –September 27, 1992
Dark Shadows - 40 episodes as Morgan Collins
In 1968, Prentice was in the original cast of The Boys in the Band, as Larry, "extremely handsome" commercial artist who prefers multiple sex partners. He also appeared in the 1970 film directed by William Friedkin.

Christopher Bernau - June 2, 1940 – June 14, 1989
Dark Shadows - 23 episodes as Phillip Todd
When Prentice left the office-Broadway production of The Boys in the Band, Bernau replaced in in the role of Larry. He continued in the role until the show closed in 1970.

Sadly, all three actors died before their time due to AIDS.

Episode 614: Any morbid fantasy
Housekeeper Mrs Johnson saw old world gentleman Barnabas Collins last night, and he was in a frightful state. Her son, unsightly ex-convict Harry, had come upon Barnabas unconscious in the woods in the small hours of the morning, and brought him back to the great house of Collinwood. Barnabas was pale and weak, barely able to stand. Mrs Johnson wanted to call a doctor, but Barnabas refused any…

Dear lord, did Angelique just romantically fixate on Joe Haskell?
It’s like her type is just “Men who would rather be fucking Josette / a specific modern woman who looks exactly like Josette”.
Girl, get therapy.

I don't know how many times I've seen this episode, but Joe's breakdown and Liz's catalepsy always horrify me. Gets me right in the gut. Two decent people who don't deserve all of this trouble.

#carolyn stoddard you will always be famous to me!!#i keep thinking about this because i just finished 32/33 recently and her relationship with joe haskell returned to the foreground;#and how carolyn repeats again that she's afraid to leave the house; what it means to get married and leave the house;#and joe has his drunken monologue in the parlor about how it's liz's fault that carolyn won't marry him;#that liz's marriage failed so spectacularly and ruined her life so thoroughly [18 years in the same house!] that carolyn won't risk it;#and i can't help but thinking that joe really has gotten the wrong end of the stick. the door is open. liz is trying;#to throw carolyn bodily out. but carolyn can't leave the house [the family]. carolyn jokes about the ghosts!;#she doesn't see the collins family legacy as a threat; or something to be escaped! she thinks her uncle with his wife in the attic;#well. hospital.#is a really swell guy!#[or maybe there's something to be said about roger being the only collins to live outside of collinsport?]#anyway. love this funky little family. nothing is as hostile to humanity as three centuries of wealth privilege and living in New England.#the news from collinsport#tag meta#dark shadows

1966 PARALLEL TIME.
In another version of Collinsport, Maine, where the road diverged in 1956: or, rather, Roger Collins swerved from it. devised with @tortoisesshells <3
DRAMATIS PERSONAE:
BURKE DEVLIN: husband to LAURA, father to DAVID, and chief financial officer for Collins Enterprises. ELIZABETH'S friend and personal advisor; ROGER'S friend, adversary, fixation, and supervisor.
ROGER COLLINS: part-shareholder and glorified office boy at the Collins cannery. uncle and father-figure to CAROLYN; soon-to-be divorcé; the last Collins.
ELIZABETH COLLINS STODDARD: has majority control of the business and the household, depending steadily on her brother. facilitated ROGER'S engagement with family friends in London, but the marriage produced no children.
CAROLYN STODDARD: sole heiress to Collinwood, the business, and fortune. student at Bryn Mawr college. sometimes-girlfriend of JOE HASKELL on school holidays.
VICTORIA WINTERS: secretary, companion, and all other duties as assigned. MRS. STODDARD'S primary liaison between Collinwood and the cannery.
SAM EVANS: artist and part-time illustrator for Rumson Publishing Company. father to MAGGIE EVANS, whom he helps put through night classes.
BILL MALLOY: ELIZABETH'S fleet manager: oversees daily operations and management of the boats, leaving BURKE to the finances. safe harbor for Collinsport strays.

Here are two portraits that were recently discovered in the attic of Collinwood, the Collins Family ancestral home. The subject of both painting is Lt. Nathan Forbes.
Family records indicate Forbes and Barnabas Collins were close friends in the late 1790s. But their relationship deteriorated shortly before Barnabas departed for England.
Later Forbes married Millicent Collins, Barnabas’ cousin. But the marriage was annulled by Joshua Collins.

reviews i made bc i'm bored
PROGRESSIVE ROCK SUITE REVIEW #1: Lizard by King Crimson.
Length: 23:19
Title track of "Lizard". Not "unlistenable", as Fripp had said, but really a great song, I'd rate it 9/10. The vocals couldn't be done better by someone other than Jon. And the drums are even better in the same section, "Prince Rupert Awakes". My favorite part of this suite. It seems that people tend to forget the talents of Andy McCulloch in the one album that he was on. A very underrated lineup with Keith Tippet included, beautiful piano playing. The only downside for anyone could be the length. It's fairly long, so I wouldn't recommend it for people new to the genre.
Lineup of-
Robert Fripp: Guitar, Mellotron, Electric Keyboards and Devices
Mel Collins: Flute & Saxes
Gordon Haskell: Bass Guitar & Vocals
Andy McCulloch: Drums
Peter Sinfield: Words & Pictures
with
Robin Miller: Oboe & Cor Anglais
Mark Charig: Cornet
Nick Evans: Trombone
Keith Tippet: Piano & Electric Piano
Jon Anderson of YES: Vocals on ‘Prince Rupert Awakes’
PROGRESSIVE ROCK SUITE REVIEW #2: Close To The Edge by YES.
Length: 18:38
Close to The Edge - one of YES' greatest suites. Close to the Edge is considered a must-listen for all progressive rock fans, showcasing the band's musical ability and power to create long and complex compositions. Great for people new to the genre. A solid 10/10, Close to The Edge is a masterpiece, showcasing all members of the band. Though not his "greatest" work, the last YES album Bruford was on as the drummer of YES was their last with a drummer who was a legend in prog, who broke the boundary between jazz and rock. Close To The Edge, in which this suite is the title track, is the first album to feature Howe using a steel lap guitar and proves his proficiency in all variations of the instrument. This album was their greatest, in my opinion. With its intricate rhythm and strong melody, it's truly a timeless masterpiece.
Drums, Percussion: Bill Bruford
Bass Guitar & Backing Vocals: Chris Squire
Engineer & Producer: Eddie Offord(A producer famous for his work with YES and Emerson, Lake, & Palmer.)
Lead Vocals: Jon Anderson
Keyboards: Rick Wakeman
Electric Guitar & Backing Vocals: Steve Howe
PROGRESSIVE ROCK SUITE REVIEW #3: Tarkus by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer (aka ELP). Length: 20:43 I truly believe ELP hit their peak with Tarkus. Tarkus is a side-long story of the armadillo-war tank hybrid on the cover of the album. I would rate it 9/10, for its complexity in music, but it is very long, making it somewhat of a chore to listen to for people newer to prog. Keith Emerson exhibits his mastery of the keyboard through his extremely large modular moog synthesizer, allowing for a wide range of sounds. Palmer’s drumming is also impressive, showing his ability to play complex time signatures and handle rhythm changes well. The suite has many sections, each with its own theme and mood. These pieces are different, yet flow into one another perfectly. If you want to explore progressive rock, Tarkus is essential. It combines rock, classical music, and innovative sounds perfectly.
Drums: Carl Palmer
Vocals, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Performer, Producer, Author: Greg Lake
Keyboards, Performer, Composer: Keith Emerson
Producer: Eddie Offord
