everyone knows the salvation theme running through all of mcr's discography. vampires: please save my soul. venom: you wanna follow something, give me a better cause to lead. welcome: will you be the savior of the broken, the beaten, and the damned? sleep: some say now suffer all the children, and walk away a saviour. nanana: what will save us?! bulletproof heart: are you gonna be the one to save us from the black and hopeless feeling? so many more... SOMEONE SAVE US! the Joan Of Arc fixation is example enough.

BUT. one example i dont hear anyone talk about is from gerard's solo work. pinkish: rescue me mother, fragile and holding my hand. it's the same idea but the context is way different. personal and direct and longing. it probably refers to a biological mother, but ive also been thinking about it as any maternal figure, including the Gay Mother or really any Community Mother. someone who takes care of you. such a great twist to this already decade long exploration of saviourdom.
