FUN FACTS ABOUT THEM

As far as gender goes, Yesenia never really had it all figured out until they were in high school. They don’t ascribe to the traditional female gender, while they have, effectively, come out as a non-binary person. The closest Yesenia can describe it is, is just being genderfluid. They’ve gotten a good grasp of their identity, because it’s been a years-long process. Growing up in a society that is very conservative and traditional, they’ve realized that the gender binary was a destructive construct for them. As sexuality goes, they’re queer and demisexual. They’re pretty much attracted to people they can establish an emotional connection with first. Their mother was accepting when they revealed their pronouns and sexuality to them, and their dad came around after the initial shock.

Yesenia has an interest in the supernatural and would secretly love to witness someone actually getting possessed by a ghost or a demon. For science. They’re a big, big fan of Buzzfeed Unsolved and The Ghost Files. #boogara

Their is handwriting is incredibly messy and barely legible, and their cursive is even worse than that. They love writing notes for friends and family, but most of the time they can’t tell what’s been written so they’ll have to read it aloud to them.

They literally never sit properly in chairs. Usually tucks one leg under them and leaves the other to hang no matter where they are. Along with that, they’re usually bouncing their leg up and down much to someone’s annoyance.

They love tattoos.They’re most likely to ask a person the story that lies behind a specific inkling on their skin, if they’re able to see it. Also, they’ve got a few of their own and each of them have special meaning. They got their first tattoo at the age of sixteen, after forging their mother’s signature.

On their phone they have cookie jam, a game they won’t delete because they’re still working on passing a level they’ve been stuck on for a while. They also have words with friends. They’re also an avid user of Twitter, Tiktok, Snapchat, and Instagram.

A huge hockey fan. Yesenia lives for hockey. They follow stats, watches every game, has signed jerseys, and tries to get discounted tickets to see a game. They even played back when they were younger – on a team for several years, and with their friends and family when they went to their cabin where the lake was frozen over. It is something their family has always valued, and so they love it too. They’re a big Bruins fan and their favorite player is Patrice Bergeron.

Food is their kryptonite. Anyone who knows Yesenia knows that they are eating almost nonstop. They have a fast metabolism and feels hungry even an hour after they eat. Yesenia’s mom taught them to cook, so often when they eat it’s something intricate and high quality, or something fast and greasy like pizza.

Yesenia was born and raised in Merrock, Maine, so there's no doubt that they’re going to have friends in town. They have a large personality. They’re a creative, flighty, imaginative person. They speak loudly, boisterously and are not the type of person to go through life unnoticed. Because of all this, they are probably known by many and having grown up in town, there's probably classmates or neighbors that already know them. For friendships, they seek out those similar to them. People who love expressing themselves in different ways, people with a dark sense of humor.

Yesenia is the first to admit that they can be annoying as shit. They’re loud without realizing just how loud they are and don’t always know when to shut up. They can get on people’s nerves sometimes; it’s fair. Yesenia’s not everyone’s cup of tea. They can be a lot to handle. They themself tries not to let themself think about people that they don’t enjoy being around because they don’t want to let those kind of negative thoughts take up too much of their brain power. They’re very much of the mindset that if you don’t like someone, you shouldn’t bother yourself with them. They are as stubborn as a rock, and they don’t willingly admit that they’re wrong even when they’re completely aware that they are. Anyone who challenges them gets placed on their naughty list (unless you're one of the few really close to them), and they can be quite the ass to those they don’t like. Mess with their family or friends and you're in trouble because they’ll be coming after you.

Someone out there has got to love them, right? They’re a people person. They’re probably the person who literally always goes over ‘being nice isn’t flirting’ with people. Yesenia is constantly plagued with the idea that they’ll never been good enough for anyone, and that because they’ve never been in a relationship before. Dating isn’t easy, needless to say. Sometimes they get discouraged, and aren’t always willing to take the time to put themself out there in that way. But they’re a romantic person at heart, and very caring when given the opportunity. They want nothing more than to be someone who is needed.

Right now, they’re just trying to enjoy themself, they’ve been openly queer since their teen years, so they have experiences with all kinds of people, they don’t really have a preference, it’s more about vibing with the person.

WANTED CONNECTIONS

BEST FRIEND - Soulmates don’t have to be romantic, you know? They love each other but it’s completely platonic. It’s pretty rare that you find one without the other.

CHILDHOOD FRIENDS - They met when they were younger in and they were best friends, and either still are or aren’t.

RAIN AND SHINE - They’re very unlikely friends, but somehow they are because they really balance each other out.

Dark Lord Fashion HCs

Don't get me wrong, I'm as much a sucker for the spiky black armor aesthetic as the next Melkor apologist, but hear me out:

Melkor's attire is a wonderland of color and pattern.  Being a Vala of chaos, the creator of dragons and the lord of volcanoes, he loves clothing that keeps the eyes entertained.  His incarnate form is one that is enhanced by heavily textured fabrics with complex weaves, and his robes are the deep tones of sapphire and ruby and amber, with entire stories written across his shoulders and sleeves in the sort of embroidery that takes years to complete.  He walks the halls of his city clad in crushed velvet, in dragonscale, in engraved leather.  The polished stones he adorns himself with glimmer and reflect light in a thousand deep colors, like embers burning in a wildfire.  The weight of the fabrics he chooses to clothe himself in lends power and substance to his presence in a room; when he embraces Mairon, Mairon loses himself within their depths.

And the lieutenant himself?  He wears things that make him shimmer.  Other than the occasional ceremonial robe, he's surprisingly minimalist in his attire.  His wardrobe consists of pale satins, spider silk, and silk chiffons, things that will drape and ripple, things that will heighten him, things that will slim him.  Mairon needs no ornate embroidery, no heavy layers, no bright patterns, no bold designs to distract from his beauty.  He is the flame atop the candle, his face the only centerpiece his outfit needs, his hair the brightest color in the room against a backdrop of silver and ivory and gold.  Everything he wears is designed for elegance and simplicity, designed not to make the eye linger but to point to his own natural features.  Anything more textured would simply overwhelm.

One would think, given their differences, the lord and his lieutenant would clash terribly.  But it is this very contrast that makes them such an entrancing sight: Mairon pale and smooth as marble, Melkor as tumultuous as a storm.  They each make up for what the other lacks, both visually and in every other way, and when they're together, no work of art could be more beautiful to behold.

Kitchen:

What is the character’s favourite food?: It has to be a tie between their abuela’s homemade enchiladas and their mother’s dumplings. Whenever they have either of those dishes, it takes them right back to being a child. 

Are they good at cooking? How good/bad?: They love cooking and baking. Are they the best at it? Definitely not, but they enjoy their time in the kitchen. It’s hard to not find them in the kitchen cooking up a new recipe. They enjoy hosting dinner parties and having people eat their food. Whenever there’s a holiday or special event, everyone knows that Yesenia will be making a thoughtful meal or side dish.

Do they leave the dishes out?: Never, they find having dirty dishes to be disgusting and will always try to hand clean them before putting them away.

What kind of food is in their refrigerator?: Depending on what their housemates need for the week, they usually try to stock up on the basics. Milk, eggs, some kind of frozen TV dinner - those are the kind of things that Yesenia will put in the fridge. They also have sliced cheese in the fridge since they eat that by itself as a snack.

Do they cook, eat out or get take-away/delivered food more?: Ever since Paco’s came to town, they’ve been eating their weight in whatever they order from there. Most nights, they will try to cook a little meal.

Living Room:

How does the character spend weekends?: To help them make a little money on the side, they tutor students since they’re pretty smart. Like, honestly, they’re such a nerd because they’re really good with the basic school subjects. They love watching documentaries and reading new books. They believe that you’re never too smart to not learn something new every day. Their favorite subject in school was history because they loved reading about the past and learning new cultures.

What kind of movies does the character watch?: They enjoy drama and action films more often than not. Yesenia’s least favorite genre to watch is comedy, surprisingly. They generally have a hard time connecting to those sorts of films and usually ends up with second-hand embarrassment.

What do they do with friends?: In general, they really love to do activities with their friends, so going window shopping or hanging out around town would be their favorite way to hang out with friends.

What’s their favorite pastime?: They love going to each restaurant in Merrock and ordering fries if it’s on the menu. They have an obsession with french fries and they have a secret Instagram account where they rate each restaurant’s french fries out of five stars.

What’s their favorite TV show/Film?: Despite them not loving comedy films, they enjoy the genre in TV format. What We Do in the Shadows is their favorite cable TV show. As for film, they are a huge fan of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Clementine is one of their favorite movie characters ever.

Bathroom:

How does the character prepare in the morning?: Since they take showers at night, they usually sleep in for a little bit. Nine o’clock in the morning is usually their wake up time. A good cup of coffee or tea will help them get ready for the day.

Do they sing in the shower?: Of course they do. Do they pretend that they’re Selena when singing Dreaming of You? Absolutely.

What kind of hair product/make-up do they use?: They have a full hair and skin routine that they keep up with. They put great stock in their appearance and strives to have well-behaving skin.

How clean is this character?: If we’re being honest, they take a shower almost every day. If they don’t leave the house for whatever reason, they usually don’t bathe. Their hair is usually on three day hair before they wash it.

Does the character have thousands of shampoo/shower gel bottles by the shower, or do they use only the bare essentials?: They usually stick to their favorite brands, so they only really use the bare essentials. Head and Shoulders, Dial... the basics.

Bedroom:

How do they sleep? (Position, sleeping habits, bedtime routines): Yesenia is really good at sleeping, and shifts a lot in their sleep. They often wind up with blankets half on the floor and tangled with their limbs. However, they’re a very light sleeper. They have a difficult time sleeping with anyone else in bed and they have to sleep with a minimum of four blankets. They’re also a snorer. They are not aware of this, and as such a bit self-conscious of it, not knowing if they do - causing them to be a bit hesitant the first time someone stays the night with them.

What are their pajamas like?: They usually sleep in sweats and Bruins or Red Sox T-shirt. Nothing too fancy.

What do they dream about usually?: They dream whatever their mind conjures during the night. Sometimes fictional scenarios with people they know or sometimes they have dreams where they’re stuck with their favorite celebrity in a time warp and can’t get out.

How neat/tidy are they?: Very clean, mostly. It can get a little messy if they’re working on a project and they start spreading things out everywhere, so they can get a good look at everything at the same time, but as soon as that’s done, they clean it all up. A cluttered room is a cluttered mind.

How affectionate are they?: Yesenia is a very touchy-feely person, with consent of course. They’re a very affectionate person towards all of their friends and will always bring them a gift if they think it reminds them of their friends or they’ll go out of their way and bake them some treats.

Attic:

What is the character afraid of?: They’ll never admit it out loud but their biggest fear is failure. They’ve put so much effort into a career that hasn’t happened yet but they’re sure that they’ll make it. They’re convinced that they’ll heal up sooner rather than later and they’ll be able to start riding again.

How do they deal with bad memories?: Watching ASMR. They watch it when they start thinking about something that they want to push to the back burner of their mind.

What is this character’s role in a horror movie?: The Final Girl, definitely. They could be the killer, but they find themself wanting to be resilient and wanting to survive everyone.
