Games/Work Headcanon

While Zach is a huge fan of FPS games and survival horrors – both at work and as a gamer – his portfolio has a few diverse projects. His earliest games feature vibrantly colored environments, which often fool players into a sense of security that couldn't be further from false. He experimented with various aspects and different approaches to find a satisfying path for his future projects and career in general.

When he discovered a studio whose projects were exactly the direction he had wanted to develop, Zach wanted his next game to impress his dream employer. For this reason, it matched the aesthetics of the games previously created by the studio as it was meant to show that not everything he touched had to be about vibrant palettes and outlandish locations. His hard work paid off, and Zach joined the team on their next ambitious project: a first-person psychological survival horror series that would be the darkest and most challenging, and also most successful of the games he has worked on.

For convenience, Zach's games are based on real games/series, but their plots and other details may differ. Visuals, real titles, and in-character descriptions & titles below.

Eagle Island

IC: Eagle Island — a cute pixel art platform game, where levels are generated based on the number of players (max. four). the main objective is to save the protagonists' friend from an evil creature hiding in the deep forest.

The Outer Worlds

IC: Beyond the Veil — FPS; plot-wise, it's similar to his earlier project, but the levels are predefined, and the game is less suitable for younger players.

Osiris: New Dawn

IC: Dark Horizons — FPS survival horror; due to their shuttle's malfunction, a group of scientists is trapped on a planet they have been exploring for the past few months. shortly after that, they discover they haven't uncovered all of its secrets and have to find a way to escape the hostile planet before they run out of their supplies.

Fobia: St. Dinfna Hotel

IC: Specter Stay — first-person survival horror with a plot heavily inspired by titles like 1408 and As Above, So Below. the protagonist is hired to explain the sudden disappearance of an allegedly haunted hotel's guests and staff. little do they know, they too are trapped by the terrifying supernatural forces that control this place.

The Outlast series

IC: The Outlast & The Outlast Trials — the series consists of two games, where the first part is a mix of the first two real-life games & the DLC from the series, and the second one is more or less a copy of the third part, including some elements of the plot. no co-op mode available.

He's masculine in a peacock way. That's the best, easiest way to put it. Zach is colorful, vibrant, probably "making up" for his quiet personality. "If a guy wears it, its masculine" kinda vibe.

Personality-wise... Hard to tell, especially if I tried to avoid stereotypes - another thing Zach hates - but it's more or less the same vibe. He doesn't think if something is or is not a guy thing to do, feel, or say or not.

Zach is a tough guy, sometimes a little too tough, too rough, but if his friends made him friendship bracelets, he'll be wearing them and he would still be tough wearing a damn purple fur.

Lol, no, it's an incorrect quote meme. I don't think he'd do that. Unless it was an argument with Eric, in which case, he'd do that for fun. Zach can be sassy but not necessarily petty; I don't think people would call him that.

He's a horrible liar, so 9/10 cases he'll tell the truth, even the ugliest truth is better than lying. If he chooses to lie, it's either something innocent (like a surprise) or a matter of life or death, so he doesn't feel bad about lying at all.

random childhood hcs

when they were little, Zach went through a "Don't touch me, Eric" phase, and would freak out whenever Eric got too close to him. it started when he learned they had spent 9 months basically glued to each other in their Mom's belly, and Zach absolutely hated the idea of someone touching him 24/7 for 9 consecutive months. he accepted their parents explanations and this phase didn't last long, but it certainly wasn't Eric's favorite time either.

their first toys were two matching plush dogs in slightly different shades of blue. they both still have them, but Eric's looks like it had been passed down through two generations.

Head Canon: Pre-outbreak, but after Emily moved away, she kept in contact with Zach - unbeknownst to him. She made a dummy account to watch his live streams, Oscar adamant to abandon the ones she had before so her boyfriend couldn't find her, and it was the first time she ever gave a shot about celebrity news, but only when the name Sanders was concerned.

Despite the number of banquets that their families attended together, Ember had always been closer to Eric when they were younger. They ran in the same social circles, and Zach was generally excluded for being antisocial. Ember feels a lot of latent guilt about it to this day, but she can't really put her finger on that specifically.
