10 Favourite Series/Movies I watched in 2022 (Fave Series for @asianlgbtnetwork 2022 Recap)

The country's leading all-boys school, Suppalo, is strictly governed. Rumour has it that a curse will punish students who act out, a curse that grows stronger as the solar eclipse nears. But where there are rules, there will naturally be those who want to break them. A group of students calling themselves “The World Remembers” unite to challenge the school's authority and demand their rights. Head student prefect Akk and his cohorts are tasked with dissuading the rebel group. Then Ayan, a mysterious new student, arrives. Ayan has enrolled in hopes of discovering the person who pushed his uncle Dika to suicide. His only evidence leading him to Suppalo School is in his uncle's old notebook.  Akk is suspicious of Ayan, this boy whose behaviour is so odd and who regularly challenges the school's norms. . Ayan's method of dealing with Akk's scrutiny is to toy with him.

Yes, this series also did make it into my disappointing list. The ending did feel very rushed, and some parts towards the end were quite questionable. But other than that, it was a really good series. The cast did a brilliant job! Like I knew they can all act, but honestly I was so impressed with their skills!! Khaotung and First had the most beautiful breakdowns, Khaotung also sold the bad boy attitude in the first 5 minutes when I was so used to seeing him as the sweet little brother character, and it was so refreshing to see a new side to Neo! So yes, I’d watch it all over again just for them! Also they did deliver a few surprises, so that was interesting. I just really wish that the ending was more polished.

From the rooftop of her building, Aelin could see all of Orynth, the sprawling metropolis glistening with the crystals of the city lights. She leaned against the glass half-wall encircling the perimeter of the rooftop, flirting with danger like she was so fond of doing, feeling the evening breeze stir her loose hair. Her wineglass dangled between her fingers, her hold on its delicate glass stem the only thing keeping it from tumbling hundreds of feet to the ground and crashing into a million fragments. She took a long sip, rolling the rich red liquid around on her tongue to luxuriate in the flavor–a symphony of dark cherry, oak, and just a trace of violet as the wine went down. 

The perfect accompaniment to tonight’s…viewing. 

In her head, she counted down the minutes, then the seconds. Twelve, eleven, ten, nine, eight, seven…. Her anticipation built by the second, her heart rate unable to control its excitement. Settle down, she warned herself. No use celebrating too early. 

Boom. 

Right on time, an explosion. A cloud of thick black smoke billowed up a few miles away at the far end of the shipping district–the Wilkins lot, if she wasn’t mistaken. Blazing tongues of flame followed right on the heels of the smoke cloud, the fire rapidly catching onto the nearby containers and setting them ablaze. The fire only grew, though contained within its boundaries; it took only a minute or two before the mini inferno had devoured what looked to be the entire Wilkins lot and one or two lots nearby, its flames painting the night in flickers of orange and scarlet. 

Aelin took another pull of her wine and drank in the sight of the raging blaze, a small smirk curling the corner of her lips as she heard the sirens screaming toward the scene of the fire. Not that the fire department would find anything worth saving. 

She’d seen to that. 

She remained at the edge of the rooftop until her wine was gone and the fire in the shipping district had been tamed, reduced to curling plumes of smoke drifting away into the January night. The decadent alcohol left a lingering trace of smoke and embers in her mouth, which only made her smirk grow. She knew she’d picked the right wine. Then she stood up and turned away from the cityscape, satisfied with a job well done. Regarding the empty wineglass in her hand, she tilted her head, thinking for a moment. 

Then she lazily draped her arm over the balcony wall and let her fingers go limp. 

The wineglass plummeted down, down, down through the silent winter night and landed with a crash on the frozen cement sidewalk, splintering into a thousand crystal shards. Curiously, though, glass wasn’t the only thing that rose up as the wineglass crashed into the pavement. No, there was something else, visible only for barely half a second–not even enough time to believe it really happened. 

As Aelin’s wineglass shattered against the sidewalk, a small plume of smoke curled up from the impact point, disappearing a blink after it appeared. Almost as if the wineglass hadn’t just broken, but exploded.

annie  had a nice, clean and loving childhood. no scandals, no secrets and nothing but loving and understanding adults. she did good in school, and had her eyes set on becoming a doctor. annie went trough highschool as a somewhat popular and overall happy teenager. and then she started college, and that’s when things started going wrong.

or, they didn’t go south because she started college, but because she met pete. pete was charming and persistent, and annie fell head over heals. he showered her in gifts, compliments and attention. she was on cloud nine, altough her family never really liked pete. soon enough, the gifts and compliments stopped coming. the attention stayed, however it changed character. pete needed to know everything, all the time. he became controlling, and eventually he became violent. annie became a silent and scared shadow of her former self.

annie left college after just two years, to become a stay at home wife to pete. it was what he wanted, and she didn’t know anything other than his wishes at that point. her family tried multiple times to get her to come home, but they never realised just how bad it was. the nightmare that was annie’s life went on for three more years, before coming to an abrupt end.

pete was angrier than ever, because annie had finally decided to leave. she tried to pack and leave in the night, when he wouldn’t notice. but he did, and he started accusing her of leaving for another man. she wasn’t though, she was leaving to save her own life. pete got so mad, that he decided to set the house on fire. his reasoning, was that if they weren’t together they might as well be dead.

annie managed to get out of the house fairly quickly, escaping with just some smoke in her lungs and burns on her legs. pete however, never made it out at all. the fire was ruled an accident, and annie became a widow.

she got out, alive. from the house, yeah. but also from the relationship. annie left the town they were in, and moved to moorbrooke. because that’s where her parents had moved a few years earlier, and because she wanted a fresh start.

she isn’t the same carefree, loving and social person she was before pete. but she tries to get back to the person she want’s to be.

buying the florist shop was a way to make a future for herself and have something that was just hers. that she could decide over however she wanted, after living with someone controlling her every move for so long.

p e r s o n a l i t y

caring. kind. problemsolver. bubbly.

clumsy. skittish. emotional.

annie is a good friend. she bakes you cookies if you'r sick and will always come to rescue you whenever you need it. she’s funny, can solve almost any problem and likes to do spontanious things.

but, she is scarred by her past and afriad to let people in. she doesn’t trust easily, and is quick to judge someones behaviours. she want’s to find real friends and relationships, but she has a hard time letting her guard down.

she’s not easy, but she is worth it.

when it comes to connections, i am open to most things. she could really use some friends, maybe an employee, neighboor or family friend. also someone her parents are trying to set her up with, the first person she slept with after her husband (she most likley woke up in panic), a sibling, a cousin, someone she used to be friends with and lost contact with during her marriage, someone that is a regular at her shop. but like i said, i’m open to most things!

then his hand started moving down my side

the whole time i was thinking, wow this is a boring game?

Black and White are twins with a powerful connection. After their parents' separation, White’s father takes him abroad. One day, White feels an agony like death and finds out from a childhood friend, Tod, Black is in a coma following a vicious attack. Unable to endure the harm done to his brother in silence, and suspecting it was one of Black’s close friends—Sean, Gram, or Yok—who betrayed him, White disguises himself as Black to root out the traitor. But White doesn’t know his brother as well as he thought; he’s not behaving like the Black Sean knows, distrustful and uncaring about the feelings of others. Sean's suspicious. The difference gets under Sean's skin and makes him feel things he shouldn’t.

I was not expecting any BL to address such heavy themes, but I just wish it was handled a bit better. I feel like the ending could have been more polished, It really showed that they were rushing with the filming and airing. And some choices in the plot were there just for commercial sake, or to satisfy certain people. I feel like we could have done without the whole Gram/Eugene thing. But overall I really enjoyed it. I loved seeing all the beautiful people on screen. I mean I love Gun and Off, but I also could not stop staring at Mond, Sing, First and Gawin, and I fell in love with Film. It definitely is a very refreshing plot, that felt very real and brought the problems of common people. There were few hiccups, but overall I loved it.

The diaboys ranked by how likely they are to start a kitchen fire

Subaru is the least likely character to start a kitchen fire by virtue of not spending enough time in the kitchen for it to ever really come up as an issue. 

Shu will actively avoid any activity that may lead to the mansion burning down. He does, however, pose something of a tripping hazard which has the potential to lead to disaster, thus why he’s above Subaru.

Yuma has enough good sense to leave any sort of complicated cooking to people who know how to do it. The only risk factor with him is that he might knock over something flammable near the stove top.

The only time Reiji would ever set the kitchen on fire is after suffering a complete nervous breakdown from the stress of dealing with his brothers for years and coping with it by setting the whole mansion alight.

Ruki is very good at cooking but he’s also pretty ambitious. If he were ever to start a fire, it’s probably because he decided to flambé something and accidentally set the curtains ablaze. It’s put out quickly but the shame of the incident never leaves him.

Ayato isn’t exactly skilled in the kitchen but he has managed to make takoyaki without setting anything on fire before and he’s unlikely to cook anything else. He is, however, very capable of causing enough of a distraction while you or Reiji are cooking to be responsible for some sort of incident.

Azusa has seen enough of Ruki cooking that he wouldn’t endanger the lives of his brothers by attempting something silly. He will, however, deliberately try to touch things while they’re burning hot, which may turn into an incident when you, or one of the other Mukami brothers, try to tackle him away from it.

Laito is also unlikely to attempt any sort of cooking which will result in a fire. He will, on the other hand, pin you against the counter while you have something cooking on the stove, paying little attention to the open flame as he does so. You tell him you smell smoke. He tells you it’s the scent of his burning desire for you. It’s his tie, his tie is on fire.

Shin is perfectly capable of cooking without disaster and he has a good enough nose to notice if something is starting to catch. He’s this far down on the list, however, because there is every chance he will decide to set someone else’s kitchen on fire on purpose.

Kino is another one who it unlikely to start a fire in his own kitchen (mainly because Yuri does all of the cooking), but everyone else’s are fair game.

With Carla it’s not even an accident, you tell him that the next step in the recipe is to grill something and he decides to go about this by setting it ablaze using his magic. Your food is cremated along with part of the kitchen.

Kanato will also start a kitchen fire deliberately, but rather than horrendously misinterpreting instructions, it’s because you or Reiji have refused to make him any more sweets.

Kou has literally already caused a small kitchen fire in canon (mentioned in Ruki’s DF route). He can and will cause another one if left unsupervised.
