Question for the angsty Tuesday

Do the boys like,, are they haunted or plagued by hallucinations? Ghosts? All the above?

Moon does, mostly!! He sees and hears things that Sun confirms aren’t there, and it kinda goes both ways because Sun hears whispers, not full on shouts or cries like Moon does, and Moon calms him down by convincing him they aren’t there, either. Sometimes Moon will wake up from nightmares and immediately be met with the face of a child he hurt/killed, staring into empty eyes as the panic rises and overpowers him.

“No, no, she’s there, I see her, she-“

“No, Moon. She isn’t. She’s gone.”

Those types of conversations always break Sun’s metaphorical heart when he sees the realization don on Moon’s face, slowly becoming immeasurable guilt and regret. He wishes there was more he could do to help, but knows that…his consolations are really all that he can do. He’s talked to the technicians about these issues with Moon, but nothing comes up after numerous system scans.

It’s just something with Moon, Sun sadly admits to himself. He hates finding out just how much the virus affected his twin and feels worse each time that there isn’t much he can do. These worries and insecurities manifest into whispers that he hears when he’s in quiet rooms or on his own, but they don’t share his voice. Rather, they take on darker tones and taunt his vulnerabilities. It’s like an alter ego that he’ll never be able to see.

And, for Moon, it’s like a nightmare he can never wake from.
