Could be something in the contract like not attending another US event in the same month as a CE event, etc, that’s actually pretty standard cross promotion contractual language,

FanX 2023 was a great convention for me because Jared came to my little city of Salt Lake, and i got to meet him and take photos with him and his lovely wife. I was able to stand near where he was doing autographs and watch him interact with his fans. He is even more beautiful in real life than on screen!

He and Genevieve did a panel in our Grand Ballroom, in front of 5000 people. I got to sit in the second row and listen to him answer fans' questions; watch him interact with his wife and just be silly.

One of the questions he was asked was at first odd (at least i thought so), but his answer was hilarious. He was asked: if animals could talk, which animal would be the rudest, and why.

He immediately responded by saying pygmy goats and went off on an adorable rant as to why pygmy goats are assholes!

I found it to be so funny that I asked Kamidiox if she would please draw his response for me. And fandom friends, did she nail it! I present to you Jared and 3 asshole goats:

a/n: i js wanted to make a skeet gif but i ended up watching the full panel from fanx cause i love jamie and skeet sm. anyways have fun! 😁

warnings: swearing, fluff, not proofread.

it’s 6:20 pm, you’re in the living room waiting and dave’s still not here to pick you up for dinner. you’re starting to get anxious again, thinking about how would everyone there react if you showed up late. someone’s first impression really matters, you think.

you take your phone out of your purse to check possibly a dave’s new message, and there really is one

“I’m really sorry y/n, but I won’t be able to pick you up! I’ve got some familly stuff going on here and if I’m lucky, I’m going to be late for dinner. I may call you an uber, how about that?” 6:17 pm

“shit” you mumbled, and continued “i was really excited for the first meeting people inside a car idea”

you start typing.

“oh it’s alright dave dw about it! i hope you’re okay!” 6:20 pm

“poor dave” you say out loud, talking to yourself genuinely worried about the guy. you know damn well how it is when you have issues with your family, especially your dad. you were often arguing with him, because- whatever, you don’t even want to think about it.

you sit there for a minute or more thinking about what you’re going to do now. you’r really not in the mood for driving, and you have this paranoia that if you drive when you don’t want to you’ll get in a car accident.

“i guess imma go call an uber or something.”

“hell no, did i really uninstall uber? when did i do that?” you ask yourself, in a frustration tone. you open the app store quickly and when you’re about to look for the app you get a message.

“Howdy 👋” 6:22 pm

an unknown contact.

“howdy? who says that?” you think, giggling to yourself.

you start typing a response, once again

“hello, who is that?” 6:22 pm

“Tom Cruise, babe!!!” 6:23 pm

you think to yourself for a second. of course that’s not tom cruise, but you decide to joke along

you make your way to your room again. you’re bored and he’s probably going to take a while, so you decide to open youtube and watch any video you find.

“is youtube watching me?” you say, realizing that the first video that shows when you open the youtube app is called “Skeet Ulrich ‘Scream’ 12/6/98 - Bobbie Wygant Archive”.

you click on it, out of pure curiosity about the content. skeet ulrich’s new name is content.

“this man was always fine, it’s so unfair for the other guys” you say out loud as you watch the video.

when he laughs with his beautiful smile, you fold.

you stop your movements quickly, telling yourself “no. he’s 53, y/n, stop. that’s embarrassing”

you keep watching the video for a few more minutes, until you hear car noises.

you hear a honk sound followed by a “y/n, i’m here!”

you turn off your cellphone and check yourself in the mirror for a few moments one last time. you’re wearing a basic agua green tube dress. it was not short, but not too long too. it was right in point.

you grab your purse, getting out of your house to see skeet leaning on his car, waiting for you with a smile on his face.

“hey tom cruise” you greet him jokingly, walking to the car

“hello, fan! i can give you an autograph now”

“maybe later” you say as you stop to stand in front of his car and he opens the door for you. “such a gentleman” you say sarcastically as he closes and walks to get in the driver seat.

“you look amazing, y/n” skeet says, putting on his seat belt, with his eyes not leaving off of you.

“thanks tom. you look really good too” you say, putting on your seat belt too. “nice car”

“you like it, kid?” this nickname.

“yeah. it’s minimalistic, i like it”

“i can let you drive it some day.”

“really?”

“no” he says, laughing at his own response.

but you roll your eyes at his response.

you and skeet keep talking and singing to music until you get to the restaurant. it’s not a cheap place, but not expensive too - it’s perfect for hanging out

skeet waits for you get out of the car then he does too. he walks up to you and intertwines his arms with yours. you step in the place and you’re already listen to some pop music. you love food places with music going on, it’s so much more fun.

“have you met them before?” you ask skeet

“yes. they’re right there” he points to a table with 6 people, laughing between them.

you both walk up to the table, arms still intertwined. you let go and greet them

“hi, i’m y/n” you say, as you greet all of them individually with a handshake.

“hey how you doing man?” you hear skeet greeting one of them, just after you do too.

when you greet melissa, she starts

“i’m melissa!” she tells you, as if you’re not a big fan of hers already. “this is mason, this is jenna, this is jasmin, this is steve, this is james, this is caroline, this is madison, and this is michael.” she says, pointing to everyone as she speaks.

“sorry, can you say that again?” skeet asks melissa ironically, tilting his head.

everyone laughs.

“so… are you guys a couple?” jasmin asks you and skeet out of nowhere

“actually, we met yesterday” you answer her

“and you already giving her rides?” jasmin asks skeet, eyeing him now

jenna slaps the girl’s arm not too hard and you can hear a little “ow” leave her mouth.

“dave!” steve shouts when

“hey guys, i’m sorry i’m late” he says, walking up to the table’s direction.

he gives you a handshake “y/n, right?” he asks “mhm! and you’re dave”

“that’s right. and skeet!” he greets him with a handshake aswell. “it’s nice to see you both in person for the first time”

“is it better at home now?” you ask him, quietly

“it is. let me tell you what happened”

the night goes on.

everything about this night was amazing: the food, the topics and how you guys literally talked about everything, the laughters, the music, and how everyone was so energetic and excited.

you’d love to hang out with them more often. but it’s past 10:30 pm and you’re a little… drunk. and when you drunk, the effects on you are different and you have no idea why.

first you get really sleepy and wants to sleep everywhere. and then, the alcohol actually hits you. you start saying what you shouldn’t say, confessing what you don’t wanna confess and it goes on.

“hey, y/n. let’s go home. wake up!”

“oo someone’s worried with their girl here” jasmin teases and everyone looks.

“c’mon, y/n.”

“that’s not going to work, mate. you gotta carry her” madison stated.

“hmm look who’s going to-”

“don’t even.” skeet cuts jasmin off before she teases him again, making everyone laugh, in a drunk way. he feels guilty of people thinking you’re with him because he’s so much older, but that doesn’t stop him from taking care of you right now.

Nolan North, the voice of the great Merasmus, was a guest at SLC FanX that year as well! So we were able to bring the TF2 to him again, and he appreciated it!

Hey, y'all. I know it's been a while. A shit ton has happened for me the past month and a half. But I'm doing better than what I was. I have a new place lined up and should be moved in by mid-October. I'm also in a very healthy relationship now with a guy whom I still wonder if he's real tbh. He's very supportive of all my creative endeavors, so I have another person to kick me back into gear to finish Chokehold. I'm planning to start writing again once things have settled.

On a similar note, I am attending FanX this weekend. For my SPN family, you're probably aware that Jared and Gen Padalecki are attending. I have rushed out this piece to try my damndest to get Jared's autograph, to join the Crowley piece I had Mark sign years ago. My art skills are rusty, so I'm nervous. Wish me luck that I can buy an autograph before they sell out.

So con count vs con count:

Jensen - 15 Jared - 10.

12 out of 15 of Jensen's cons are CE and all 3 non-CE cons are outside of the US (2 of which Jared is also attending - JIB and AHBL - and Purgatory 8). All of his cons are SPN-specific, no general cons.

Jared on the other had is scheduled for 4 CE cons, 4 international cons (JIB, AHBL, Infinity Con, and Darklight Con) and 2 US based non-CE cons (ATL CC and Albuquerque CC).

And Jared still has July, Sept, and Oct free to add more if he wants to try and do one a month like it's appearing he might be doing.

Personally it seems smarter to me to diversify like Jared is doing. Not only because SPN and its specific cons are slowly dying, but also for the fan reach. There is a reason why J2 sell out so fast overseas - its been exponentially more rare for them to attend cons there. Jared is increasing his audience reach but going to more overseas cons. And also he reaches a different audience with the more broad US based cons like ATL or when he did FanX etc. Lots of people don't look at CE when thinking of attending a con because it is so niche for SPN fans pretty exclusively. I know they've tried to diversify a bit with some Smallville or TW ppl but those aren't enough of a draw to really get people to attend who weren't already interested in a SPN con (especially at those prices).

Jared's looking to build his career, not just promote a single role (Sam), especially if he's done with that role (excepting a possible reboot). There's no guarantee how much longer Walker will go, but Jared's appearances at non-SPN cons, particularly in the US, can help promote the show and build his reputation and solidify his fanbase for future projects. He's making long-term moves instead of looking at just the yearly return.

He is so fake and not a note of earnestness in the dude ever. Glad for more Gen panels next year that I can actually watch. The FanX one was brilliant.

EXCELLENT QUESTION omg. is it cold in the water? is my fetid little kidnap kink fic and probably the most 'personal' kink fic i've ever written but i don't often think about CNC from the other side!

okay, under the cut for length and also cw for discussion of CNC and kidnap kink.

so i think the only way oscar would be able to easily conceptualise being the 'aggressor' in a CNC scene is to essentially create a sort of character for himself, not in the sense that he's acting exactly (i think he'd be far too self-conscious to do any sort of dramatic roleplay) but more that he'd sort of have to externalise it and figure out the motivations and behaviours of this other, fictional Bad Oscar because he wouldn't quite be able to picture himself doing it.

i think i've mentioned before that i imagine lando figures out what kinks he wants to try out by going absolutely kamikaze in the pornhub tags, whereas oscar reads the wikipedia page list of paraphilias in his spare time. he likes to research!

but with CNC, because he kind of feels like he needs that external character self, just reading about it isn't really helping him. and maybe lando mentioned something vague like "yeah it's hot in films and that innit, getting tied to a chair and your mouth taped up and that" and that triggers oscar to think about the kidnap scene in the first episode of happy valley.

(side note: the happy valley thing is maybe the most egregious bit of personal fanservice i've ever put into one of my own fics because the kidnap and torture/threat scenes at the beginning of the first series make me FERAL. so glad other people enjoyed it lmao)

anyway so oscar would basically have watched those episodes back and studied up, both to get ideas of what he could do and how he could translate that into safer stuff to do to lando (hence the pillowcase over the head instead of just duct taping his actual skin/hair) but also to get ideas of how tommy lee royce acts and why it's threatening but also kind of attractive. which is why the persona he adopts is very cold and cruel and almost mocking (that bit in HV where TLR asks "are you a virgin?" in that sly way was VERY influential on oscar's dialogue).

i think when it's actually happening in the moment, he surprises himself with how much he gets into it, in a similar way to how lando is shocked by how difficult it is to remember that the threat isn't real. he's always in control of himself and there's a bit of him that's constantly watching lando to make sure he's safe and isn't getting genuinely hurt, but he likes seeing lando so helpless and scared, and it means that by the end of it he's acting more on instinct (i don't think coming on the pillowcase across his face would have been planned in advance, for instance). that's partly why he gets a bit of top drop himself afterwards, because he'd sort of imagined that he'd have more emotional distance from it all than he has in reality.

final tidbit: the most stressful part of the entire thing for him is stealing the zipties from the garage. it's done on the spur of the moment, but he's petrified someone's going to see him and ask what he's doing because he can't think of any plausible excuse why he might need a handful of big zip ties and also they're really hard to hide about his person and he's sure everyone can see them tucked inside his hoodie.

FANX i love thinking about this 'verse so very much. need to go and rewatch the first two episodes of happy valley now for personal reasons.
