random question!! in school, was/is it common for some people you're not friends with to be referred to by their full names? like if you're talking about someone else in your year, you say both their first name and last name, at least when first mentioning them in conversation?

#idk if it's just a here thing but. i knew loads of people at my school who in my mind i know them as their entire name like. automatically #maybe it's cause so many people share common first names here so we need to specify?#i once saw someone talking about like. British books about school. and they were like #“it's so weird that these characters are valling their classmates and stuff by their surnames”#and i was like yeah no we do not do that #but then i went. oh wait. i DO hear surnames being used pretty often to address others. just not by themselves. along with the first name #ace's random thoughts :)

people with onsite laundry will never understand the epic highs and lows of laundromat life

#went in the other day to my laundry and there were like these people just standing around in there and when i came in they were like omg #you’re just in time it’s free wash night!!!! and i was like oh because i forgot that the local emergency assistance place does free wash #nights there but i well and truly can afford my load of laundry so i felt bad and i tried to tell them this but they did not listen and it #wasn’t like there was a line of people waiting for free wash so it was like fine but then they left before my wash cycle was done and i was #like now wait a minute what about my free dry #<- KIDDING i did not care but it was funny #anyways mat life has changed me like fundamentally as a person #fully aware that some city people will read thsi post and be like what are you even talking about like everyone experiences laundromat to #some extent or another and herein lies a cultural divide because i like in alabama and laundromats are not really the norm i feel like even #in our metro areas lol because i work in a metro area and i’ll mention going to the laundromat at work and people are like whatttttttt you #don’t have on-site ?????? and i’m like no i don’t have onsite but my rent is $765 a month including utilities so i can simply cope for rent #that is that cheap like local laundromat will have my business forever if that’s all i have to pay for rent

I acknowledged the whole "write the most extremely self-indulgent fic you want, nobody can stop you and it's good for your brain!" advice as good before, because yeah having fun while you write is important! It helps you learn and grow!

But never have I understood it as much as I do now. I managed to cram hyperspecific Jedi lore, hyperspecific kyber crystal and lightsaber construction lore, a new Master/Padawan team figuring out their dynamic, a fun not-SWTOR-canon character that doesn't technically show up at any point in this era of Star Wars but I know exists at this point in Star Wars so I'm seizing the opportunity to use them, and a fanon followup of sorts on one of my favorite Tales of the Jedi (comic) story arcs into this thing. AND I got to write a fight scene that is more or less set to Paramore's Born for This from the Riot! album, which I have ALWAYS wanted to do because it's perfect for one but could never find the right spot to use it until now.

This fic is essentially a 4-episode TCW/Rebels-esque "filler" story arc but set in between the SWTOR 7.3 and 7.4 story updates, packed with the most wildly indulgent KateBait stuff I could possibly fit into it.

I am LIVING here. 🥰

#K8 Rambles about Writing #*vibrating because i want to talk about it but also i actually WANT to post this (who AM i?!?!?) so i don't wanna spoil it*#my only problem is that there is SO MUCH EXPOSITION i have to front-load this thing with or else a lot of stuff isn't gonna make sense #and my brilliant self thought sticking gnost-dural my consular and talos into one scene to deliver it and NONE OF THEM UNDERSTAND BREVITY #LEARN TO SUMMARIZE PEOPLE it's like listening to my mom tell a story and stick about twenty digressions into it 🤣😭#but yeah the moment i realized “wait this bit where a character uses music as a distraction WHAT IF I USE BORN FOR THIS”#my brain did the thor YYYYYYEEEEEESSSSSS!!!! thing from ragnarok and it was GLORIOUS 🥰#when i post the thing (I WILL POST THIS THING I WILL FINISH THIS THING) i gotta figure out how to link audio files in the post #so you can play the song as you read #it is not needed to read this at all. the scene flows perfectly the same without it. but it elevates the Vibes okay trust me 🤣
