·         I grew up with the Playstation 2 and many of the games inspired me to pursue cartoons and animation as my passion. I also wish to make a video game one day because of their way to explore stories no other medium can.

·         My favorite video games are Kingdom Hearts 2, Metal Gear Rising, and Asura’s Wrath. One of my favorite movies is Shin Godzilla. Current favourite animes are Jujutsu Kaisen, Madoka Magica, and My Hero Academia. Most recent stuff I’ve watched is Oddtaxi, Spy X Family and Black Clover.

·         PLATFORMS USED: Discord, tumblr and I used deviantart for the longest time until the update came along and made all the profiles look hideous. Place was also kinda dead so ... I tried my luck here. I also did Youtube roleplay when I was super young.

·         I started back in 2014-ish on deviantart playing Adagio Dazzle from MLP before going onto Peko, but if we want to be specific I’d say 2008 with Youtube RP with a group of three friends. We met up every day just to fuck around with DBZ fights and plots with muses of Sonic OCs and Pokemon OCs; it was amazing.

►   MUSE PREFERENCE  ...  ??

·         GENDER:  At first I didn’t think I had a preference, but then I realized all of my muses are ... girls. It never struck me at first, but I don’t know why  —  I just like girls.

·         LEAST FAVORITE FACE(S):  Personally, I don’t give a damn about face claims. As in I don’t care whoever you use - play them as a character however you want.

·         MULTI OR SINGLE:  I’ve used single accounts for the longest time, but I cannot recommend multi-muses enough. Not only do you not have to make a new page and set your shite everytime you want to try someone new, but even if they don’t work out it’s not a big deal.

►   FLUFF /  ANGST  /  SMUT  ...  ??

·         FLUFF:  Having times where muses calm down from the hardened persona’s a lot of them are crafted out to be to just be kind and relax with another soothes the soul. I don’t do them a lot compared to angst or memes, but just having a time for your muse to be happy tends to make me feel happier.

·         ANGST:  Angst is probably the most I’ve written out of these three ?? It is a lot of fun to consider the darker side of your muse and writing it out. I know everyone kinda does the meme of “ haha my muse about to have bad time ” but there is an interest of how dark you can be with your muse. Having them come out the other side is interesting.

·         SMUT:  I’ve done no smut in tumblr RP  -  mostly because of people’s rules and I mostly reserve anything lewd related. Also people are really really angry for certain muses doing lewd stuff. I don’t do any of that and I’m against minors doing lewd stuff. If I were to do smut RP, it be in Discord with close friends.

·         PLOT  /  MEMES:  I personally like to meme and plot! I think memes are easier since they’re more digestible and just ... kinda easier to think up on the spot. I love to talk plot with other people, but I tend to notice that plotted stuff gets dropped more frequently. I don’t know if that’s me or if I’m unlucky - but after talking so long about plots only for them to get dropped it’s kinda sad. I love plotting but I just don’t do it as much nowadays.

   Hey, so I've noticed this a long time ago but I’m just now confronting it since I got my computer fixed- it seems pretty impossible to reach the “About Motivatedtale” on mobile, even with the literal LINK to the page (I could only sort of access it through some loopholes in a browser- and the link just took me to my Tumblr instead), so I wanted to compile the information that’s in there into a post for any mobile users who may follow this blog. I’ve got more followers here than my art blog-- so even if there’s not much interaction each post, I think there’s at least a few people who might not have access to an about page here. Changes are very likely to be made and things will be added occasionally :)

.:Summary/Idea:.

 “Have you ever wondered what happens to creations when a creator gives up?”

 Motivatedtale is essentially an abandoned AU with no finished story or a plot. Which, ironically, not having a story is the story itself. It’s a tale about how the lack of motivation (along with other things like self doubt and lack of interest) in a Creator leaves a story unfinished, and with no reason to exist, no story, the AU is crumbling into nothingness, as it is being forgotten by the only one who knows about its existence- the Creator. However, there’s two characters in it that have to deal with that burden of having no ending or reasons to exist. And they’re completely aware of what’s going on.

 At least, the first one that was created is aware, because they were made to be that way. They inform the only other character (Frisk/Motive) about all of this when they meet. They’re a Sans of course (which is sort of a self aware joke because a lot of people either start with the Sans of an AU when creating characters, subtly revolve around a Sans of an AU in a story, or the entire story literally and shamelessly revolves around a Sans. This is not an attack on anyone). This Sans goes by Unmotivated, and is quite bitter about existing.  These characters have no finished story, no destiny, and no purpose. Being self aware of this can be a great burden on hope and happiness; ignorance is bliss, after all.

 What the AU would’ve been if it was “completed” is unsure.

 How the story ends is not fully decided or meant to be disclosed (for now), but even if this AU is finished or not, it is already technically complete. It symbolizes a project that is given up on; a project that is abandoned, and what would happen if the characters in these types of projects were conscious about this- if our ideas existed somewhere out there, somewhere where our decisions, intentional and unintentional, have a serious affect.

 So, if this AU is abandoned, it’ll be quite ironic.

Motive

    Motive is the Frisk of this AU, and one of only two characters that are in this AU. Motive was created after Unmotivated, but the coloring of their design was given up on towards the very end. Their sweater is unfinished because the creator gave up on them due to being overwhelmed with empty and destructive thoughts, but the outline/shape is still there. The sleeve usually is never shaded/effected by light.

  Motive is an optimist, and believes that their AU will one day be finished. They have the soul of motivation, which is outwardly visible and tied to the loose hanging strap of their overalls. They don’t have preferences in pronouns (though they/them is usually the default), and calling them by any pronoun is fine (she/he/they/it..it really doesn’t matter, honestly).  

  Motive acts impulsively a lot of times and does not think of the consequences of their actions…or, they do, but they choose to move forward with their actions anyways. Since optimism is one of their key traits and it’s exaggerated and simplified in their character and logic, it can result in some bad outcomes. The same goes for their impulsitivity. They’re not that serious natured, and act more like a child than a young adult (despite being 18). However, they do make a lot of (sometimes unnerving) jokes that could be considered uncomfortable, but they mean no harm. While Motive is quite intelligent and empathetic, they’re distracted quite easily and might say or do inappropriate things during certain situations.

  Since Motive is technically a new character and was not fully developed by their Creator (backstory, powers, etc), their underdevelopment as a character is actually a big part of their development as a character.

Unmotivated

 The Sans of the AU, and the first ever character created (which again is poking fun of the idea that people usually start with the Sans of the AU for characters). Unmotivated is bitter and cynical towards his existence and his Creator, and is completely aware of the multiverse and AU Creators. A big fourth wall breaker. He’s apathetic, bored and often paints himself as emotionless and uncaring to hide any hurt/feelings of helplessness. He bottled them away a long time ago.  At first, Unmotivated was hopeful about his AU, but he was alone for an unspecified but long amount of time in his AU, and was driven to toxicity and bitterness during that time. He’s seen his universe grow, halt, and then slowly deteriorate- he has seen new ideas come and go, and is helpless to stop the rampant decay of his universe- his home- his story. He’s overall a pretty lonely character. 

When or why he got the nickname “Unmotivated” is unclear- but it’s definitely supposed to be a pun. He hates the name but finds it funny and ironic at the same time. 

  Unmotivated’s soul is held by a string that is woven into his rain coat. He considers this to be poor design choice but doesn’t really do anything to fix it. He often keeps his soul in his pocket for safe keeping.  (More is to be added later)

• The AU resets (sort of like an update) each time a new idea is added. This is how Unmotivated is generally aware of Motive when they’re created. • The “Creator” resembles anyone who has abandoned or given up on their projects or ideas. This isn’t meant to put people that do this in a negative light.

•The white of Motive’s sleeve isn’t meant to be shaded since it’s “incomplete.”

FAQ (most are from amino since not many people ask here)

- What was the AU supposed to originally be before it was abandoned?

 This is undecided and left up for interpretation. However, based off of the design of the current characters, it can be safely assumed that the AU was supposed to be more lighthearted and cutesy. There are random bits and ideas spread throughout the AU that give glimpses to what it could’ve been.

- Can I draw fanart of these characters?

 Of course! I’d be honored to receive fanart and would love to see it! Just please keep things appropriate if you do.

- Is Ink Sans or Core Frisk going to be in the comic?

No.

 I’ve gotten asked this several times, and the answer is no. Doing this would completely ruin the theme and point I’m trying to get across with this comic. This story revolves around a Creator and their Creations, and there will be no other characters made by other people.

- Are Motive and Unmotivated shipped together?

NO.

 It’s fine as a joke but please realize they aren’t. This isn’t an AU centered around romance and would distract from the goal of the comic if I had that. While I’m not anti-frans in any sense, I still don’t want it in my comic.

- How often do you plan on updating the comic?

  Each page is published whenever I finish it nowadays due to stress of a schedule. I post them in bulks of 2-3 on amino and twitter, and whenever I finish the page on deviantart, instagram and here.

- Is the Creator a character?

 Yes, and no. The Creator represents not only myself, but any artist that has struggles putting their creations out there due to insecurities or other causes. They’re more symbolic and fluent rather than a structured and identified character. Of course though, if there is any introduction of the Creator, I would have to give them some sort of design- and I do have general ideas of what they’d look like. However, they’re still supposed to represent a broader group of people than just myself.

- What does Unmotivated think about other AUs/Sanses?

 Unmotivated has an apathetic mindset when it comes to AUs and other characters like him. He’s incredibly self aware and sees a much bigger picture. He knows characters are just pawns to their creator, and won’t get fazed by any story. Sort of like watching actors in a movie while constantly reminding yourself that they’re just actors. However, he is quite envious of anyone with a complete and happy storyline, since that’s something he lacks but yearns the most. That’s something he wish he had.

 Keep in mind Unmotivated and Motive cannot interact or travel outside of their AU, and no one can interact with their AU except the editor/creator.

  Alright, this part is going to be a lot less formal and more personal. The idea for this AU came from my own self doubt and self destructive attitude as a creator. Doubting my own works and ideas has seriously held me back for a long time, and it STILL holds me back as I’m sure it has for many, MANY other creators like me. Musicians, artists, writers.. Almost all of us have that fear of trying out a new idea or making something you usually wouldn’t. Almost all of us have felt that crushing self doubt when you see someone better than you, and you tell yourself you’ll never be like them, your art will never be that great, you’ll never get that far…so on, so on.

  So, while I was trying to come up with an idea for an AU (which I had actually been considering for well over a year), the thoughts crept in.

“there’s enough AU’s”

“you’re unoriginal”

“this is a waste of time”

“the fandom is dying”

“you have horrible character designs”

“AU’s are overrated”

“this doesn’t fit your audience”

“people will judge you”

“you never finish anything”

“this is stupid”

“your art isn’t good enough”

“you’re not good enough”

“someone probably already came up with this idea”

“no one cares about your idea”

“no one would bother with your art”

  And ironically, all these thoughts gave me this idea.

  Even so, these thoughts have still been nagging me every time I even try to work on this, and it’s been taking a lot of courage to take on the heap of anxiety I have over something so harmless. I didn’t join the Undertale fandom for over a year simply because I was afraid of being judged for my interests,, fun fact. Never thought I’d be able to make an AU. I’m still quite nervous posting art of anything that isn’t Mario related for some reason.

  Putting all this to side though, I find the concept of what happens to unfinished and/or abandoned stories and projects interesting, especially if there’s an alternate reality that’s actually effected by your decisions. Kinda like you’re a god. I mean, imagine what it would be like if you had a creator and they just gave up on you, and you’re left with no purpose. Seems like it would suck, haha.

It’s a bit of a yes and no answer. I did RP OCs a whole bunch before Jay, but not on Tumblr. I’m one of the old people around here, and before tumblr, there was a handy dandy very ugly green thing called DeviantArt. There were RP groups on there that were half art-based, half roleplay-based, and you had to apply to these to join one team or another. RPed in chat, in comments on artwork, in notes, on (RIP) messenger and skype, and so on, and so forth. But these were in all-OC roleplay groups, not in Fandom RP. 

Then I dipped out of OC rp for some canon RP, and this was during the days when people were very much ‘bwah bwah OCs have to be weaker than canons bwah bwah’ (and honestly, I just had a lot of muse for some canon muses in Ace Attorney and Pokemon, which we love to toot OCs’ horn a lot, but good canon RP is just as fucking valid lmao). Jay took a long time coming together, because I was low-key scared of putting my own creation into the world, and honestly, at the beginning I made so many concessions just so he wouldn’t come off as too strong or too antagonistic. I had fun with him, but there’s some things that I look back on and, in hindsight, I’m so glad I took a 4 year break from him because it allowed me to mature in my way of approaching his character development and also to wear my big girl pants with what I want him to become (which I’m still sometimes struggling with lmao). 

I would LOVE to play more OCs on the Tumblr (and honestly on discord too, it just feels much more low-ley and less HARD COMMITMENT BAYBEE), I launched a Ho-Oh gijinka @pyreborn​ and my fanregion lore blog @roadtobelysse​, on which I hope to slap some muses soon, but the thing that eludes me most right now is time and motivation to write longer things. I still work 37.5 hours a week, from 8 to 4, and I take care of the house, do chores, and have other hobbies I like spending time on as well, so it’s like... Sometimes I have to pick my battles and live with not roleplaying for a few days (which is why Discord is so amazing, it’s just a few lil things and blammo, done). But I’m so utterly stoked to bring more fanregion babies into the fold and to just. Throw them at the world. I’m also just a big worrier, and I want everything to be nice and shiny and everything to be done as perfectly as possible before launching, so it may take me some time. (Also tumblr’s been kind of dead these days so it’s not feeding all that much into my motivation OTL)

But god once I find my motivation and add another six hours to my days, it’s over for y’all mofos.

Why now? No bad or scary reason why. I have a lot of mushy things to say, so read more. And please, read the story before reading this.

It has been a very long time. I made this blog back in July of 2014. Can you believe that? Six years ago...

I had just beaten Dark Souls 2, and I was looking for fanart of it on DeviantArt. One great artist in particular, who I have unfortunately forgotten, said they kept most of their art on a site I had never heard of - tumblr. And so, time on there began, and though I was just in it for gifposts at first, I eventually stumbled onto the Dark Souls RP community, and I joined.

Y’all have honestly, no exaggeration or joke, changed my life. Before this, I was a very sad little guy. No recognition. No friends. Few hobbies. A hollow shambling through life, following the orders of the people around me because I didn’t know what else there was to do.

But all the attention y’all gave me, the engagement and fun and writing and conversations, from the first skype group to every post reply and Ask and thread, it was all so wonderful. It really sparked up my life.

I’m an English teacher now. Right now I do private school teaching for big tests, but I am taking the lessons to be a full time public school teacher. I make video games and art in my free time, and my one finished game in particular has received far more attention than I thought it would. I am living a very happy life.

And also, I changed.

When I first made the Black Warden, I was a very angry person. I was able to write him so well because he was just the voice to my dark thoughts, my resentment, my hate, my desire for a better world through violence and gore and becoming the most intimidating person of all so that no one would dare hurt me. But at the same time, I knew deep down that this guy would need to have some serious issues and flawed thinking to end up this way, and so I wrote him accordingly.

I didn’t really know what to expect when I came into this community, but I am so glad to have met you all. I have amazing memories of RPing with y’all, talking about RP ideas, and all of those community-wide memes we did. And eventually, as I got better and better in my own life, I just couldn’t write the Black Warden anymore. His mindset was foreign to me.

I just left him alone for a long, long, very long time, but you know what?

In the past 3 days, my younger brother ( a soulsborne expert ) blazed through Dark Souls 3 since he had a lot of free time over the weekend. With a full strength, Havel’s Greatshield, huge ultra great sword build, he went through and I watched.

I watched him beat the incredible Gael fight, and then, at the end, I watched him fight Soul of Cinders.

And I heard that “pling pling plong” of Gwyn’s theme.

And it made me think back to the very beginning of it all.

I am not the same person I was 6 years ago, and that’s a good thing. I’ve moved on from so many bad things, and I am still moving on from others.

And, in the end, I suppose, I wanted the Black Warden to move on too.

I hope this is a good ending to the story of a character you all enjoyed so much.

We can all move on. There’s no reason we don’t deserve to live a better life.

{{ oh this is actually a LONG story lmao so strap in.

so first i got into soul eater when i was about 11 or 12, and just around then i had also first discovered tumblr ( the rules say you have to be 13 but it’s not like i listened ). i had actually been roleplaying for a few years on deviantart, but i was completely banned from there by my mom bc i was doing Naughty Things ( please kids dont smut if you’re under 18 ) so i had to find a new outlet for my blossoming creativity. probably like, literally THE DAY i finished soul eater, i made an rp blog with two soul eater ocs, a meister and weapon pair named gwen and hoshi ( they were...Bad )

but i was actually pretty well accepted into the community despite my awful ocs. i found myself a nice little group in with a few other oc blogs and a REALLY nice spirit blog ( shout out to bipolarclumsiness and redhotscythe hope yall lead good lives now ) and somehow, i think it was bc of a magic anon, i wrote as stein for a day bc he was My Fave Character. and my friends said i did really well as him? so i decided to start a stein blog! ( currently sitting covered in dust over at masteringmadness-archive )

i ran that for a long time, and through that blog is actually how i met my friend, who at the time ran an mlp oc blog ( interesting crossover i know ). we clicked very well and actually started to do a lot of private rp ( we still do!! sneak peak into our chat rn: stein is a mob boss and spirit is getting Fucked by axel from kingdom hearts ) 

anyway bc of us doing our private rps i ended up as spirit a lot of the time, and honestly? i clicked with him WAY more than i did with stein. i love stein to bits but i felt i could never do him justice bc i made him too serious or too silly and also i’m A Dumbass and he’s A Gotdam Genius. but spirit is silly and fun and loving and as much as i wanted more content from him, him being more of a supporting cast member gives me a lot more room to grow and interpret his character ( even tho i already ignore most of canon and just carve for juicy bits but that’s neither here nor there ). he’s also a GREAT canvas to project all of my issues with anxiety and relationships on to lmao

so then back in 2014 i decided to officially make a spirit blog! ( honestly i mostly did it so me and my friend could do more of our ultra rare pair spirit/axel but whatever ) i actually,,,didnt get as many interactions here as on my other blogs so that was a little bit disheartening, my only rp partner really was @young-golden-eyed-doctor whomst i still cherish. but around that time was when my depression REALLY kicked in, so keeping up the blog when not a lot of people seem interested ( while i was also suffering through high school ) was really hard so i ended up just...dropping itim honestly glad i didnt delete tho, bc obviously i came back!! i actually owe that a lot to a discord server i joined in late february ( another shout out to #ClubThirsty ) which was focused on selfshipping with borderlands characters. everyone is really nice there and honestly i’ve had the most fun writing my self insert there and collaborating with the admin on the overarching story. and i just thought about how much i missed roleplaying, and when a couple of others in the chat made rp blogs i decided to make the push and relaunch this blog!

im so glad i did, it’s been so much fun and im so grateful for all the new friends and rp partners i’ve made ( and i miraculously got back in touch with my old stein partner thru a different blog of theirs!! ). this past month has been the most fun i’ve had in the tumblr rpc and people are a lot more welcoming than back when i first started.

♥: One thing you love about your Muse.

i really find alm’s religious views so fascinating tbh !! for a guy who grew up in a country that worshipped their patron goddess mila and never stopped praying to her even in the worst of desolation and starvation and even murder, alm differs from his peers. 

though the degree of how much he reveals of his religious opinions changes from the original game to the manga, the latter being much more explicit about it, it’s still pretty implied in the former that he doesn’t care to pray to and/or rely on mila. he merely takes things into his own hands, believing she’s abandoned them and that he needs to save the innocents of the country himself.

with the way the remake is going so far, it looks as if he’s not as negative about mila, understanding why the others seek aid from her, but he still believes there is a call for action in order to truly liberate the zofians. he still refuses to agree with celica’s own plan focusing on her, believing the true direction to head towards is war with rigel, so even if he’s more understanding in echoes, the core of my intrigue is still there.

to avoid spoilers ( i’ll say my actual favorite moment is at the end of chapter 4 in gaiden ) i’ll say my second favorite moment: his first reunion with celica in the zofian castle at the end of chapter 2 in gaiden !

though it’s cute at first because the two haven’t seen each other in so long, the conversation quickly turns sour and i think it’s a really good example of really seeing how much the two contrast with one another. you get to experience both their philosophies and understand that they’re both hoping for the same end goal ( peace and harmony ) but have very different methods on how they believe it has to be accomplished.

        Celica: Is there no way war against the Kingdom of Rigel can be avoided?

       Alm: That’s impossible. Emperor Rudolf of Rigel has seized the opportunity to attack                 while Zofia’s still weakened by civil war. He’s already started an invasion. At this                        rate, the Kingdom of Zofia is going to be destroyed.

       Celica: But when it comes down to it, both Rigelians and Zofians are the same, aren’t                      they? We are all people of Valentia. Even if these divisions of country no longer                      existed, we should all still be able to live together in happiness.

       Alm: That’s no good. […] we’ve got no choice but to fight.

everyone shows alm to be very… i suppose thirsty to fight and nothing else, but i think even his adamant denial of diplomacy attempts here show that he had thought it through and he just feels as if zofia has been wronged. his blunt way of disagreeing with celica merely reflects his idea that it’s too late and futile to try and use niceties.

☄: What you think of your Muse.

i like him a lot ! i think he’s got a lot of good qualities, and every fe lord i tend to like usually shares a trait of his that i admire or find interesting haha

i think he does need to learn to be more delicate in handling situations though. as a person, he has his heart set in the right place but dashes into things refusing to change his mind once it’s set. he’s overemotional in that way – not in the usual way in which people mean crying a lot cause he doesn’t do too much of that, but it’s clear he’s not as level-headed as celica is and that there’s concern that without her that he might’ve turned into a person much like walhart did.

✫: Why you began RPing.

oh god this is kinda a weird story but ?? i was really into an anime called shugo chara! back in the day and i wanted to be active in its fanbase. i was on deviantArt and i didn’t really understand what rping exactly was but i applied to an rp group anyway and got in.

i had to learn from my peers a lot how to write collaboratively, but in the beginning it was more of an attempt at social interaction and a stroke of luck really !

As predicted, the imbecile of class 34A had managed to hurt himself. It didn't surprise Desdemona and she showed him little sympathy. As soon as the cap popped off the test tube, the rancid smell registered on her nose and before she could hinder the upcoming disaster, there was a hissing sound, followed by a yelp. The boy’s arm suffered a 2nd degree burn. 

"You fool!" she scorned, standing up like a vertical bullet and marching over to him. "I told you not to open the test tube until the potion was complete... and here you are, messing around as per usual. Are you happy now?" The boy simply stared at her, holding back the twitches of pain in his face and refusing to cry. 

"Come on," Desdemona growled, grabbing the boy’s shirt and hauling him along. "Carry on working! And for goodness sake, don't follow in his example," she called to her class, before exiting the classroom and pushing the boy along towards the nurse's room.

It had for once, and so far, managed to be a fairly quiet day. It wasn't often that such a large population of unruly teenagers with dangerous abilities (and more hazardous classes) managed to go so long without any injuries. So Ithadel had learned to take what he could get when he got it these days. So far all that had come through was one new student with a badly faked stomachache. He had sent them on their way again a few minutes later, satisfied that--like so many of the more experienced students here--they had learned not to waste his time.

Now he sat perched on a stool in a corner of the room, reading through a recently published medical journal on his aging laptop. It was surprising, what could be adapted to a non-human community with a bit of creative thinking, and he scribbled notes on a piece of paper nearby as he read.

The corridor outside medical became noisy with the sounds of Desdemona grumbling, her feet shuffling and pushing the boy along, who whimpered pathetically. Not such a bigshot now, she noticed. A sharp knock sounded on the nurse's door and she waited. The student's mangled arm could wait. Politeness took priority, apparently.

Ithadel looked up from his reading, listening to their approach. He recognized Professor Sterling's voice quickly, and from the sounds of it she had an injured student along. He sighed, leapt down from his perch, and started washing his hands in the sink in the corner. Injuries received in alchemy often included broken skin of some sort, be it from chemical burns, cuts from broken glass or misplaced knives and thorns, or what have you. Of course, improperly brewed potions were also common, but being prepared for either never hurt.

Ithadel frowned deeply at the knock, and glanced over to pull the door open with the thumb of one wing as he dried his hands. "While I understand that observing societal requirements is a laudable goal," he said blandly, "there are times when even I would say it isn't necessary. Just come in."

Desdemona simply sniffed at Ithadel's comment, feeling the boy wasn't worth the trouble. "Another burn," she told the gargoyle, folding her arms crossly. The boy held out his arm, tears spilling down his cheeks as he looked at the man, searching his face for a bit of sympathy, unlike Desdemona's fierce reaction. "Opened the test tube too early," added the professor.

Ithadel raised an eyebrow, looking unimpressed. "Steam burn, then? Not a spill?" Despite his impassive expression, the hands that grabbed the arm were gentle... then again, they usually were. Ithadel gave the burn a quick look-over, then tugged the student over to the sink. He turned the water on to cool.

"Over here, boy. Keep it under this until it's mostly numb, then let me know. Mind you, it would have done more good if you'd done this right away in the classroom. Steam stays hot for a while, you were still getting burned on the way here..." He didn't look at Desdemona, but there was something pointed in the comment nonetheless.

"Oh no, he spilt it. He opened it and he dropped it on himself," she explained, stressing the connective and rolling her beady eyes. While the nurse dragged the boy towards the sink, she looked around the room curiously, looking through her specs at the various posters on nose bleeds, how to stop the common cold spreading, preventing headaches and various other common ailments.

Ithadel hesitated briefly but, presuming that if the concoction were likely to react with water Desdemona would have stopped him by now, released the boy's arm into the water. He leaned down over the student's shoulder, fixing one glowing eye on him in a serious stare. "In the future," he suggested, "I'd listen to the entire lecture, if I were you." He stepped back, folding his wings tightly and leaning against the far wall to wait.

"Indeed," added Desdemona ominously from the other side of the room, now inspecting a poster about cigarettes and their harmful effects on the non-human body. "Interesting..." she murmured, also reading a little column that'd been stuck there, highlighting the benefits of smoking for the otherwise supernatural.

"Closest I've gotten to a cigarette was having a flare thrown at me in the wild," she remarked, nearly snorting with laughter and even turning to the nurse, indicating the poster with a wry smirk on her furry face.

Ithadel huffed in quiet amusement, glancing briefly at the poster. "I presume that it didn't have quite the effect that whoever threw it at you had been hoping for," he remarked.

"Of course not," she said pompously, "the lousy human could barely master his aim, he was shaking so much." Desdemona silenced, then wandered towards the student and peered down at his arm. "How is he?" she asked, much more gruffly.

Ithadel huffed again, shaking his head slightly and suppressing a smile. He followed her over to the sink and examined the burn again, pulling it out of the water. The skin was cool to the touch, and clear of any remaining potion. The gargoyle nodded in satisfaction, and started carefully drying the boy's arm off.

"He should be fine," Ithadel said. He hmmed, spotting a section of the burn that had split open. He turned away briefly, pulling open a drawer with one foot and retrieving a few supplies to begin bandaging the injury. "It'll take a while to heal, though. Unless you heal quickly, boy, that is..."

The student simply sniffed miserably, refusing to meet the eyes of either of them.

"Alright," she said tonelessly, folding her arms again and waiting for the boy to be bandaged up. She could smell the little trickle of blood as the boy's burn split open, mixing in with the scent of disinfectant and plasters.

Ithadel grunted and began applying a thin layer of antibiotics after blotting up the small amount of blood. "I'll take that as a 'no'." Once finished, he began loosely bandaging the injury. It was quite an impressive burn, he supposed, stretching down most of the student's arm like that. As he worked he went through brief care instructions with the boy, emphasizing that if it started swelling overmuch or the redness started to spread then he should come back.

"It'll sting for a few days," he finished, "but you hardly needed me to tell you that. Just be careful for a while, it'll heal right up." He released the boy's arm and began to wash his hands off again.

Desdemona exhaled deeply, eyeing the student. "You can take the class off," she told him tonelessly, dismissing the boy. He couldn't have gotten out quicker, wrenching the door open and slipping out like water in between one's fingers. The bear turned to the nurse, pressing a smile.

"Thank you for taking care of my students," she said stiffly. "I know I visit you at least twice a week, and that can't make your job very exciting," she added. "It's appreciated. I stress to my students the importance of taking careful note, but they don't listen." A sigh escaped her maw.

"I do understand," Ithadel said, watching the student go with a frown lining his face. His arms were folded, and one set of blunt claws tapped pensively against stony skin. "It seems to me that, despite coming here as students, a great many of the children are strongly opposed to actually learning anything."

"Indeed," said Desdemona. "Maybe they'll learn eventually..." though she didn't sound particularly hopeful. Her furred hand clasped the door knob. "Ah well, another day, another class," she said, a smile twitching her mouth. "Good day to you, Ithadel," nodded Desdemona.

"Perhaps," Ithadel said, also sounding ambivalent towards the possibility. "And a good day to you as well, Ms. Sterling. Good luck with your class. And, ah, try rinsing burns off right away next time? It really does make a difference."

Desdemona hesitated, as if admitting she made a mistake was a great misfortune or rarity even. "Noted," she conceded, looking back at the gargoyle as she paused in the threshold. With a final nod and a small, dark smile, Desdemona left the medical room, scuffling back to class and preparing her next scorning.

Ithadel watched her go, feeling a brief note of satisfaction at the small success, and then turned back to his research.
