donal coming up with a whole cauthor missing scene fic in response to a simple question about what costume he'd most want to wear is exactly what i needed today (transcribed from this podcast starting a little after the 30-minute mark)

Q: You were stuck wearing that costume for almost the entirety of the season. If you could wear one other character’s costume, what would it be?

A: You know when we go to Cairhien, and I bump into Rand, and he meets me as I’m playing dice, and then it cuts to the lads and they’re having drinks outside at a kind of tavern, at a restaurant—I know that, like, in that cutaway, definitely Mat has had a word and said, like, “Man, it’s ridiculous that you get to walk around wearing these class clothes and I’m still wearing this!” It’s definitely, those are kind of the outtakes there, the unseen dialogue, is Mat going, like, “Can you please tell me where you got your shirt and your jacket?” ’cause, you know, like, Josha looks pretty phenomenal in his getup. So I think it’s that costume.
