This is for @3rdgymbros, who got me thinking about Shinji's relationship with Momo after he reassumed office as the 5th Division Captain. Just some silly little fun headcanons because we all need some silly little fun in our lives.

HIRAKO SHINJI AND HINAMORI MOMO’S CAPTAIN-LIEUTENANT HCS

Momo isn't sure what to make of this new Captain of the 5th Division. She has heard whispers of who he is, of course, along with the two others who took up the posts of the Captains who had ultimately turned their backs on Soul Society. She knows within herself that everyone has been lenient with her - more than enough time has been given to her to heal, and some of the other officers' gazes have turned from understanding and sympathy to a mixture of impatience and pity. Even Nanao, who is usually so wonderful, seems to feel a slight sense of exasperation for her. But she doesn't understand - none of them do, not even Hisagi and Kira, who have lost Captains themselves. How could they, when the men who turned their back on them did not treat them with the same kindness Captain Aizen had? How could they, when the men who scorned their services didn't lay dead and mangled in front of them, so lifeless as opposed to the gentleness and patience he had used to guide her ever since her days freshly out of Shin'o? Small wonder she gazes upon Shinji with a sense of exhausted weariness. She still keeps her head bowed respectfully, of course, but she knows he can't close up that gaping wound in her chest that stretches open still with the strain of running her Division alone, with stares and whispers following her despite her subordinates' loyal subservience.

That is, until the blonde man brushes aside her attempts at etiquette away impatiently. Ya can call me Shinji if ya want, yer know. At least within the Division. When she protests weakly against this, he insists again, and refuses to take no for an answer. Momo accepts this - after all, Shinji is still her superior. That doesn't mean she lets herself call him by his given name though - it'll always be Captain Hirako to her. Not because she doesn't want to be close to the man, or form a bond with him - but past experiences had taught her a lesson in being too intimate with someone. Especially someone she thought she knew for a long time.

It wasn't until she manages to connect the dots (and timelines) that Momo realises Shinji was the 5th's Captain before Aizen, which means Aizen was his lieutenant during his tenure. Now that manages to put things into perspective for her, and she starts to open up a little to the blond man. Shinji doesn't push the relationship after their first initial meeting, because he doesn't want to put too much pressure on the girl, so he had sort of established a professional working experience with an open invitation to be closer (As lieutenant and captain, ya know? This sorta thing gets easier if yer friends. Trust me.). But she truly and actually takes him on his invitation one afternoon when she brings him his tea (with one of those Real-World snacks that Kuchiki brought back from one of her countless missions there) and paperwork. Momo lingers hesitantly, before asking for help about some of the paperwork she'd been struggling with. Now Shinji isn't exactly a huge paperwork man (that sort of thing has always been Kensei's schtick, and even Lisa's - god knows Kyoraku isn't the one doing paperwork in his division), but he's been in the post long enough that in pre-Aizen times he does his own.

At any rate, that kind of served as a bridge between their relationship, and bit by bit Momo started to regain some of her past personality. Toshirou and Rangiku even remarked that she gained a sense of confidence that they hadn't seen in her for a long long time - she doesn't smile at this, she beams. Toshirou blushes.

The 5th starts lightening up as well, like a wilted flower that was given some water and sunlight. They've always been kind of wary, a little unsure - it always feels like one wrong step out of line could break the lieutenant beyond how much she's already broke, and no one wants that for the Division. But with Shinji's arrival, the squad members started to be more lively, and it becomes more of a home, rather than a shell. They find it easy to talk to Shinji, and his jazz records constantly playing in the background, though ultimately came with death threats (as a joke), made the mood of the entire division lighter and happier. Not for those who'd stuck around when he was previously captain though - there was a collective groan in the veterans' pantry when the vinyls played again (even if everyone does collectively agree Shinji coming back was the best thing to have happened since he left, after realising what a backstabbing liar Aizen was).

Anyways, with the 5th being happier and Momo herself also being happier, the relationship between her and her captain significantly lightens up and becomes more cheerful. There’s a lot more playful banter now that Momo knows he’s not really serious half the time, and she even scolds him a little when she knows he’s slacking off. After all, despite her soft exterior, Momo is still a sticker for rules, and she’s not as comfortable in her position as some other lieutenants (Oomaeda, Rangiku, Rukia etc.) and the captains are to give herself leeway in her work. But that could be a good thing too, because you need someone to balance out the strictness and adherence to rules and someone to be flexible with them. 

Captain! You should really start working on the paperwork, we need to get it in to the 1st Division by tomorrow afternoon.

Aww, Momo-chan, give it a rest! The Captain-Commander ain’t gonna bust a vein over some missing sheets from the 5th. Yer becoming like Nanao-chan over there now

L-lieutenant Ise is much more efficient than I am, Captain Hirako. I don’t think I can compare to her yet.

They have weekly tea sessions - but after they become more comfortable with each other, that turns to bi-weekly, then monthly. During these sessions, they get to know each other more, and Shinji becomes something of a mentor to Momo. Shinji often jokes that these are free therapy sessions for her, and Aizen-ranting sessions for himself. Yes, they end up destroying Momo’s vision of the perfect Aizen, but let’s be honest, it’s good for her mental health and stops her from doubting herself. She seems like someone who definitely would blame herself at least once for Aizen turning evil (even though it’s absolutely not her fault), and after hearing Shinji’s stories, she realises that it was just who he was the whole time. It wasn’t even Gin’s fault, as much as she thought that was the case. Momo is absolutely horrified at the stories of Aizen cutting Shinji’s hair when he sleeps, but even more when she hears about the Hollowfication incident that turned the Visoreds into what they are. She has more sympathy and understanding for them after hearing the actual story from him (because you can bet Soul Society sanitised it and erased that history from its books). 

After all that time Shinji spends in the Human World, it’s understandable when he refuses to take on any assignments there - not just because he lives in perpetual fear of a sandal flying at his head, but also because he really doesn’t want to revisit those memories, at least not so quickly. When Momo is assigned there, she gets a whole talk from Shinji - where to go for the best foods, what to buy and what to see. He nearly forgets to tell her the best hiding spots when she’s in danger, but everyone knows Urahara is in town and Kurosaki Ichigo can step in whenever anyone is in trouble. He secretly slips her a list of stuff to buy from the Human World, and reimburses her himself - after all, just because he doesn’t want to go there anymore doesn’t mean he misses those CDs any less.

Shinji might not show it, but he absolutely does treat Momo like a daughter. After living in a commune (...of sorts) for 100+ years, you start viewing relationships differently and have a different concept of intimacy and a whole new level of paranoia. He doesn’t keep tabs on her exactly, but he does look out for her in that weird way of his. That much is obvious in those tea sessions I mentioned earlier, but he also insists on her taking time off whenever he sees it, and tells her to accept those chocolates left on her desk by a secret admirer (and no, he did not send those). After taking on his last lieutenant because of suspicions, he tries to let himself look after his new one. They both need to heal from Aizen’s schemes and manipulation.

On her birthday, he gets her a peach plushie. It’s moderately sized, but still dwarfs her when she curls up next to it. Momo may or may not have a story to tell about the time Hitsugaya came over and her needing to use Tobiume to get rid of the icicles that formed on it afterwards. Shinji got a good laugh out of it afterwards and got her a plum one next time, for her zanpakutou. 

Momo absolutely did cut her hair because of Shinji. He didn’t plant that idea in her head, but he definitely did encourage her to do it. Not only is short hair easier to manage, they’re also matching!! To which Momo replied her hair is definitely prettier than his. Shinji sulked for a whole three days and she got the mountain of paperwork on her desk to prove for it. Still well-deserved, though.

What happens if the icons meet their queen's parents?

The Icons meet your parents

Your relationship with the icons has to be spectacularly good for that to be an eventuality. Or not, perhaps you made a deal to arrange this regardless of the current compatibility level, equally plausible. It's also worth considering the other side's opinion. While it is likely that your parents always wished for you to find happiness and marry one day, none of them could ever expect you to marry a Ringlord. To a very religious and uninformed parent, that's the equivalent of saying you're engaged to Satan... But, let's say your parents love you very dearly, and they're willing to accept this very unexpected development in your life.

Your dear Lord/Lady will invite them over for a day's stay...

They need to be escorted too, lest they end up getting torn to pieces or seeing some unsightly things.

Rinx believes he won't have to do much to make a good impression on your folks, but make sure to remind him that keeping everything in huge piles next to the front of the mansion will make it seem as if you live with a hoarder (which you do, but alas, this hoarder has imps to keep things tidy). He'll ask you about your parents' tastes and make a list of small presents for them upon their arrival. This takes some effort, as Rinx is naturally stingy- Spoiling his Queen is different from spoiling literally anyone else. Be sure to reward him for his generosity! He makes decent conversation, usually about either you or the things he's collected in his lifetime. He maaaay steal something from your parents, just bat his meaty hands away from personal belongings.

Cero wants everything so perfect he's going to overwork his imps to death. When you jab at him, he claims he always demands the best, it doesn't matter that your parents are coming over. The first thing he does is give them a tour of the whole mansion, talking his elbows off in a way he hopes will impress, but ending up confusing your poor relatives. While he can't help always being a tad judgemental, he tries not to let it show as much as usual. Your parents are waited on just as you and Cero are, it's uncomfortable for everyone involved. Conversation consists of gloating about how lucky you are to have him, and how proud of your choice in a partner your parents must be. Cero is visibly trembling and twisting with the urge to correct your parents' abysmal table manners. You think he's going to have an aneurysm.

Kalymir deafens them upon arrival. He's very eager to show off his massive trophy hall, displaying his scars, weapons and all the things you've killed too! It's gruesome, might spoil their appetite. You have dinner on the highest platform of his ring, where there's a view to the main arena, which is always buzzing with violence. He may jab at your parents for being squeamish, or cringing at his vocabulary, but it doesn't get scathing like it does with many others, he's in a good mood. Hopefully your parents enjoy fun pastimes like beheadings and living piñatas. He's going to ask if they plan to move in. Oh, of course, the lizards will also be introduced. Kalymir talks about his conquests and the wildest things that have happened in Wrath. Overall, he'd say it went swimmingly.

Vesper has been thoroughly warned to eat very well the day before your parents arrive, because you won't be touching him with a ten foot pole once they're in Lust. No pheromones or hypnotism in the mansion, no exposed sex toys either. He's suffering. Vesper can make good conversation, at least. He's a little too touchy and underdressed, which is uncomfortable for your poor parents, but he legitimately doesn't know how to be any other way. Feel free to tell him to tone it down, regularly. Since Vesper's not really eating at the table, he's going to be doing a lot of talking, trying to pick conversation topics that aren't too scandalous. Might as well talk about his writings and love of theater plays. He may escape at some point while you show them the mansion so he can have a quickie.

Zizz is loaded on so many fucking energy supplements, he's a living battery, you think he might start glowing at any moment. This means he has the ever rare sloth zoomies when they show up. He's all over the place, taking your parents around the entire mansion way too fast, probably picking them up in the process, ranting on and on about the complexity of dreams while he hands them several blankets and pillows and where is his Queen?? The only time he does slow down is during dinner, where he may actually fall asleep while your parents talk. A bit rude, but hopefully you've warned them about it. When Zizz becomes coherent again, he's able to have normal, pleasant conversation with them. He gifts them the most pleasant dreams for a week straight and they're shown the fluffiest guest rooms.

Livius functions by wanting to know every possible thing about your parents he can. He pays close attention to what you say, and definitely mimics bits and pieces of your posture as they arrive. Only a bit of conversation is necessary for him to start blending in. Your mother is flowery and open-minded? Yes, so is he, the two of them are holding glasses of wine like long-time friends. Your dad likes fishing and fixing cars (*wheeze*)? Him and Livius are setting up the grill. He's also a tad too keen on physical contact, but not as much as Vesper. The King surprises your parents by mostly making conversation about you, they come out of it knowing very little about him other than the fact that he loves you and is very socially adaptable.

Vorticia spoils your parents with food so good they might want to stay for longer. It's a huge meeting, all her kids are there, the mansion is full and loud and she's soaking up the attention. Your parents get to meet so many people they'll probably get exhausted. She's admittedly sweet to them, though a little too insistent that they eat more. It's a bit rude of them to only peck around (your parents are bloated like balloons, she's insane)... Conversation revolves mostly around being a parent, responsabilities, the joys of good food and a big family. It's all fun and games until she forgets there's humans in the mansion and just fucking eats someone alive. Oops. She also gets a tad drunk towards the end. Thankfully, her kids are there to take the reigns, the youngest has not stopped talking.

Do you ever just become down bad for a character? Imagine the havoc that would wreak in SAGAU... This is mortifying to admit but I legitimately put on my favorite love song for Kaeya as I was playing him. Listen I'm blushing like crazy disclosing this information, so please, how do you think Kaeya (and sagau tbh) would react?

Most of the SAGAU characters consider you to be kind. You say positive things towards them when they do a good job, and you even compliment them often!

But, you seem to do those things more often with certain people. You act as if you adore some characters, they think you just like to exaggerate in your words when talking about them. But some start to think that maybe you favor certain people.

I mean, its hard to ignore the music's change in mood whenever a certain somebody comes on screen. Or your incomprehensible, fangirl-like squeals into the nearby pillow whenever he comes on screen.

Kaeya is one with some of the least visible reaction. Don't get him wrong, he's mentally jumping for joy right now. It's just with his attitude, people being attracted to him isn't a very new thing. Though, he'll gloat to others you favor less as if he had won the world cup. He doesn't mean to brag, but he is the optimal choice for one of your favorites. (he is indeed bragging, bragging to Diluc and getting kicked out of the tavern.)

Has a very small period of a flustered reaction when realization dawns on him, before all those feelings go right back to his flirty personality and ego. Everybody in Mondstadt is currently aware of your "subtle" feelings towards him. He tells himself that he's simple proud of this new revelation, but it's just an excuse for him to slyly brag about it even more. The man's become an absolute menace. He's managed to somewhat annoy almost all of the other characters with his bragging, this man will NOT quit.

He has to secure his place in your favor, of course. You'll notice that in battle, he's significantly better than before, even though you didn't even change his build. (in which I mean he actually crits)

If you go over his voicelines, he'll start being brutally honest. Will absolutely start throwing shade at characters you dislike. He feels more open to you now that he's aware you "favor" him. May or may not let one or two dirty secrets come from his mouth at one point. He just wants you to know that he dislikes them too. His own way of trying to make you like him more... by hating on people.

Sly mf suddenly has the charm of a god. Will try his absolute hardest to get you with a very dumb pickup line. He starts randomly appearing during commissions just to talk to you, and you think it's just a new game mechanism. Nope. It's him slowly ending up down bad for you. Oh how those tables have turned. But he'll never actually admit that. He'll just say its his "appreciation" for you. It's a bit more than that. Just a tad though, according to him.

IT WAS ALWAYS GOING TO HAPPEN EVENTUALLY.             it had been weeks of agony---and not just regular grit-your-teeth-and-bear-it agony, like proper i'm-sitting-in-the-sidelines agony. it had seemed almost manageable for some time. he could hobble around, bark at tartt while he ran on a treadmill, wait for the alarm to go off to say he could take more ibuprofen. when phoebe snitched on him to his sister, it was all over.

so, doctor's orders. ice it, stretch it and fucking lie in bed all day. even if the idea of it is nice on a sunday, he can't bear doing nothing. it's excruciating and he does all the necessary fighting and still. nothing. the following wednesday comes, roy's still crying through mini squats. richmond have to leave without him.

despite his misery, they do a good fucking job on the pitch. roy watches in bed, cheering at his tv screen, staying not-very still. he sends all the lovely texts and lies back down with a smile on his face. but it's even worse then, in the silence, the empty.

he waits. distracts himself with dinner first---an arduous task for the flamingo but he perseveres despite himself till it's dark. till tartt will be back in his hotel. part of him was expecting, or maybe hoping, that he'd have gone to sleep already; roy could leave a voicemail with all the i'm proud of you's without any of the ego back. when jamie picks up, the thought fades away. he finds that they can talk and talk and talk: back to the start of the day, the trip over, the locker room chat, everything he was thinking about on the pitch, all the gloating. roy listens to every bit, humming back faintly from where he lies against the pillow, jamie's voice trailing from where his phone sits on the other. eventually, he gets there. his eyes are already shut and he still expects jamie to get himself up at four and do the work before the coach back. then ---

roy's finger hovers over the red button. he stops, lies back on the pillow beneath his head.    "yeah?"    he doesn't need a real answer, he'll take this.    "it's late,"    he mutters,     "or early..."     roy's gaze flickers up to the clock on his wall.     "you know i'm proud of you for today. i was worried but, fuck me for that,"     he exhales a laugh. he values catching jamie's eyes on the pitch, a nod here, a middle finger there. maybe he doesn't need it.     "you were fucking brilliant."

keeps his ghouls on standby. for now. if either of them step out of line, he lets his ghouls correct them

absolutely takes each and every opportunity to talk about you, whether it's praising your work in the abbey or your work in the bedroom

he has no shame. in fact, he hopes it's enough to never have to see them again

you have to give him extra love after they're gone. with such an experience, he's going to need payment for being so good

he may or may not had done that stupid fistbump/handshake thing. don't bring it up. he doesn't wanna talk about it

Aether is also accompanying you two on the tour through the abbey. he's here as emotional support and he's being such a sweetheart

Copia also might've mixed up your parents' names a few times. we're also not gonna talk about that

absolutely gushes over you and the work you do, though he's still using the pet names he's given you

please reassure and cuddle him after. he feels like an idiot and like he messed everything up
