For Albedo's birthday, I did 13 illustrations of different ships with different colored roses. Each has its own bit of symbolism.
I guess tumblr has an image limit! I can't add the ivory, black, or rainbow rose to this post so I'll follow up later.
But that's where I've been this month!

For Now Just Kiss Me (KazuScara Idol AU)
Wanderer had always been an elusive figure, refusing to even tell anyone his real name. Honestly, Kazuha had been shocked to learn that there was someone in the world with more bite than Xiao. But at least Xiao had humility. Heizou’s deductive skills had yielded no results on the newest member of 5WIRL. Not even Venti, who despite his lax nature seemed to know everything, could figure out what Wanderer’s name was.
But Kazuha had always been drawn to the unknown and mysterious, for he too was a drifter. He blamed that for his continued attempts to get close to his indigo-haired bandmate, despite the other’s repeated attempts to push him away, to keep the rest of the world shut out. In his quiet observations, Kazuha had discovered that Wanderer was a bit more open immediately after a show. He was tired, leaving his defenses weakened and his walls just the slightest bit translucent. It was these moments in which Kazuha was able to pry little things out of him. He knew that Wanderer hated sweets and that he loved bitter tea and black coffee. He knew Wanderer had grown up in a foster home, but he didn’t know any details.
The most intimate details he’d gotten Wanderer to open up about was his relationship with his previous manager when he was working small gigs as a solo artist. A horrid man who’d referred to himself as Dottore picked up a young Wanderer, freshly 18 and with no place to go after aging out of the foster system, and took advantage of his naivety in more ways than one. Wanderer was absolutely exhausted that night, his voice uncharacteristically soft, and it could have been a scene out of a romance film if the words that fell from his lips didn’t have Kazuha feeling sick to his stomach.
The next morning, when Wanderer had been hit with the realization of what he’d revealed to Kazuha, he was nastier to the albino than usual for about a week, almost as if he was trying to counteract the vulnerability he’d shown in that moment.
But learning about his previous manager told Kazuha everything he needed to know about how to approach him. He exercised more patience, something he thankfully already had in abundance. He backed off when Wanderer told him to. He listened.
And although he could tell Wanderer was infuriated by it, Kazuha could tell it was working. Wanderer would slip up and say too much with more regularity, blushing and stumbling to backtrack every time. He really was adorable. As much as he tried to fight it, Wanderer was falling for Kazuha, and while Heizou and Venti had half-jokingly offered to help speed things along, Kazuha fought back. This wasn’t something that could be rushed, especially when he was so close.
Kazuha was no stranger to relationships. He’d had a brief fling with all of his bandmates and then some, but Xiao and Venti were now happily dating each other, and Heizou was eyeing some blonde-haired, blue-eyed artist who happened to be having fidelity issues with a member of a rival band. Kazuha wasn’t about to touch that mess. If Heizou got into a fistfight with Kaeya Alberich, well, that was Kaeya’s funeral.
Besides, Wanderer seemed like he needed someone with him tonight. It was normal for Wanderer to lock himself in one of the rooms of whatever suite they were staying in the night after a performance. What wasn’t normal was for him to do so silently. This time, he’d skipped the part where he cursed the others out and told them not to need him before slamming the door. This time, they’d been back at the hotel for about half an hour before anyone even realized he was missing from the afterparty of wine and weed.
“Hey…” Kazuha said, standing up from where he, Venti, and Heizou were sat together on the floor, Xiao having retreated to his and Venti’s room to listen to music in relative peace. “I’m gonna go check on Wanderer. He’s been uncharacteristically quiet tonight.”
“Finally gonna make a move?” Venti teased, red cup sloshing with his favorite dandelion wine. Kazuha briefly wondered how many drinks he’d had already before aiming a soft glare at him.
“I would never take advantage of someone’s vulnerability like that,” he said. “Who do you take me for? Heizou?”
“Oof, low blow,” said the auburn-haired man in question, tone of voice betraying that he wasn’t really offended. “I’m not gonna pursue anything further with Albedo until he and Kaeya actually break up.”
Kazuha rolled his eyes. “I just want to make sure Wanderer’s okay,” he clarified. “He didn’t throw his usual theatrics before going to bed. Lend me a hairpin? He probably locked the door.”
Heizou fished a pin out of his hair and plopped it into Kazuha’s waiting hand. The albino approached the door of the room Wanderer had taken over and knocked gently. “Wanderer? Are you still awake?”
“Fuck off, Kaedehara,” came the eloquent response through the door.
“Are you alright?” Kazuha pushed.
“Am I ever? Leave me alone.”
Kazuha’s mind flashed back to the immediate aftermath of his best friend’s death years ago. He’d spent some time lashing out just like Wanderer was now, locking himself away and finding creative ways to harm himself behind closed doors. The bandages that adorned his right hand were a permanent reminder to never let himself reach that point again. Yes, Wanderer was telling him to piss off, but he was also outright telling Kazuha that he wasn’t okay, and Kazuha couldn’t just leave him in that state. He needed to make sure Wanderer wasn’t hurting himself the way Kazuha had back then. Kazuha tried the door. As expected, it was locked. He straightened out the hairpin and stuck it into the lock, listening carefully for the telltale click and opening the door. The lights were off, and Wanderer was laying on the bed closest to the window, his back to the door, still half dressed in his blue, white, and black stage costume.
“I thought I told you to fuck off,” he muttered, making no move to look at Kazuha.
Kazuha closed the door, blocking out the ruckus Venti and Heizou were causing in the common area. “I’ll keep my mouth shut if you want me to, but I can’t just leave you alone when something is clearly wrong.”
“What’s wrong is that you’re the last person I want to see right now,” Wanderer spat.
“Did I do something to upset you?” Kazuha asked softly, taking a seat on the other bed.
“No, it’s not you, it’s just— Ugh! Why am I telling you this shit? I must be getting some secondhand high from your goddamn pot.”
“Wanderer… I’ll let you in on a secret. I went to therapy when I was younger. One thing the therapist told me that stuck is that keeping everything to yourself isn’t healthy. A person can only bottle everything up for so long until there’s no more room and the bottle explodes in a shower of broken glass. I swear that anything you say right now will stay between us, but I think it’s time you let it out to someone.”
Wanderer was silent for a long while, and Kazuha began to wonder if he’d fallen asleep, or at least pretended to fall asleep. Just as he considered leaving the room, Wanderer shifted to sit up on his bed, back still to the other.
“I saw my ex in the crowd tonight,” he said quietly.
Red eyes widened. “Dottore?”
“No! Gods, no. I would never call that bastard an ex. He was never my boyfriend, no matter how much he might have deluded himself otherwise. No, it was…” A humorless chuckle left his lips. “I don’t know why I’m calling him my ex. We never went anywhere…”
“But you wanted to,” Kazuha pieced together.
The albino watched Wanderer hug himself before he continued, voice softer than it had any right to be. “He and I grew up in Tatarasuna together. We were close. He was the one who encouraged me to pursue a music career in the first place. He aged out of the system a couple months after I did, and he found a place for both of us to stay. It was filthy and run down, and we couldn’t afford repairs, but none of that mattered to me because he was there. I wanted us to be something more. I was ready to take that next step. But then I started taking off as a musician… When that piece of shit Dottore found me, I wasn’t allowed to date, and just like that, my old friend was a thing of the past. I saw him in the crowd tonight. And I couldn’t help but wonder…has he been showing up to all of our shows?” Wanderer sighed. “You remind me so much of him. Every time I look at you, I see him, and it hurts. It hurts to remember what we could’ve been…”
Kazuha heard a small sniffle, and his arms were around Wanderer in the next second, consequences be damned. He knew he’d made the right choice when Wanderer didn’t attempt to claw his eyes out but instead buried his face in the crook of Kazuha’s shoulder, black painted nails digging into the back of his white and red hoodie as he allowed himself to cry, likely for the first time in years.
“You still could,” Kazuha said, ignoring the pang in his chest at the thought of Wanderer being with someone else. This wasn’t about him. Wanderer deserved to be happy, and if that happiness wasn’t with him, then he would accept that. “Dottore isn’t here anymore.”
“But I don’t--” Wanderer struggled for the right words, hands loosening their grip on Kazuha’s clothes. “I do miss him, but I’m not the same person he grew up with anymore. The part of me that wanted to be more than friends has moved on because…”
“Because…?” Kazuha urged.
Wanderer lifted his head, violet eyes shining in the moonlight as he aimed his gaze at the other. “Because I have you now.”
Kazuha’s eyes went wide. He must have been higher than he thought. There was no way Wanderer just said what he thought he said. Snippy, arrogant, guarded Wanderer, admitting that he was in love with Kazuha? This had to be a dream. The albino was snapped out of his shock by a scoff.
“Pick your damn jaw up off the floor,” he chided, his tone much more in character now. “I don’t know how the hell you did it, but you wormed your grimy little pothead way into my heart. You grew on me like a fucking fungus.” Even in the dark, Kazuha could see a blush forming on the other’s face. “So, congratulations. Whatever your scheme was to win me over worked. What will you do now?”
Shaking his head clear, Kazuha cupped Wanderer’s face, wiping away the tear tracks with his thumbs, expression softening as red met violet. “What would you like me to do?” he asked. “I don’t want to push any boundaries with you. This will all be your call.”
“Tch. Your kindness is sickening. Spare me the pity.”
“It’s not pity,” Kazuha said. “I simply pride myself on my impulse control.”
“So you’re saying if I allowed it, you would shove me onto the bed right now?”
“Are you inviting me to do so?” Kazuha’s voice lowered to something that had a pleasant shiver running down Wanderer’s spine.
“Some other time,” Wanderer said. “For now, just kiss me.”
“Gladly,” Kazuha said with a chuckle before leaning in to press his lips to Wanderer’s. The softness was a sharp contrast to Wanderer’s personality. Hands wound into white locks, undoing the ponytail sloppily tied at the back of Kazuha’s head. A careful brush of tongue against lip had Wanderer opening his mouth to Kazuha, inviting him in physically now that he’d been allowed in emotionally. A small whimper left Wanderer’s throat, and Kazuha found himself taking the other’s hands and shoving his back onto the mattress, fingers interlocked on either side of Wanderer’s head.
Finally pulling away when he was more desperate for air than he was for Wanderer, Kazuha was ensnared by the flushed, half-lidded expression on his bandmate’s face as they both panted. Realizing the position he had Wanderer in, hands trapped in his own and hovering over him, he began to fret again.
“Is this okay, Wanderer?” Kazuha asked.
“Kabuki,” said Wanderer.
Kazuha tilted his head like a confused puppy, earning a soft chuckle from the man under him that had his heart skipping a beat with how...innocent it sounded.
“I keep telling you the weed is making you stupid,” said Wanderer. “My name. It’s Kabuki.”
“Like Kabuki theatre?” Kazuha asked.
Wanderer- Kabuki heaved a sigh. “Yeah, my mom never bothered to give me a name, and my foster parents weren’t the best with naming. Now do you see why I just go by Wanderer?”
Kazuha couldn’t help but laugh. “I would argue that Wanderer is an even stranger name.”
“If you tell anyone, I’ll kill you,” Kabuki threatened.
“Didn’t I say in the beginning, everything that happens tonight stays between us? Your secret is safe with me, Kabuki.” Kazuha fell into another fit of giggles saying the name out loud.
“Just shut up and kiss me again,” Kabuki demanded. He was back to himself. Feeling relief wash over him, Kazuha leaned down for another kiss.
Ready to call it a night, Heizou opened the door to invite Kazuha to share the second bed in Venti and Xiao’s room with him, but before he could utter a single syllable, he registered what was happening. With a smirk, he silently shut the door, the new couple none the wiser that they’d been caught.
“Looks like it’s just going to be me third-wheeling you two tonight,” the redhead said to Venti.
Venti fell back onto the carpet with a dramatic sigh. “Finally,” he said. “Think Wanderer will mellow out now?”
“Kazuha’s a poet, not a miracle worker,” Heizou said.
“Well, at the very least, we can all rest easy tonight. Perhaps we should go out for drinks to celebrate tomorrow. On your tab, of course~” Venti laughed as he dodged a pillow that was thrown from the couch with frightening accuracy and strength.
Yes, everything would be just fine.

Albedo hums quietly as he tidies up around his room. Books and papers were scattered around the floor, the result of his sister having ‘too much fun’. His hand reaches to pick up another book when his phone starts buzzing in his pocket. He picks up seeing the name ‘Kazuha’ on his screen,
“Hey Kazu what’s-”
“Someone needs to come get Heizou,” The soft voice cuts him off over the phone. “Like, now. Right now.”
Doe-like eyes scan the room warily as he heads out in search of his moms. He’s never heard Kazuha so panicked in his whole time knowing the quiet boy.
“What’s going on?” Albedo switches the call to speaker when he finds Rhinedottir and Alice sitting in the living room. Their heads turn to him, immediately taking note of his worried expression.
“His parents.. uhm..,” Kazuha trails off, somewhat distant sobbing and hiccuping heard more clearly. “Long story short, he doesn’t wanna go home and no one else can take him in.”
The blonde’s heart sinks at the mention of his boyfriend’s parents. He was well aware of them not being anywhere near as accepting of them as his moms. Frantic eyes flicker between the two women, words caught in his throat. Alice stands up quickly, dragging her wife up with her.
“Give us the location and we’ll be there,” She quickly says. Rhine instinctively starts patting herself down looking for her keys, walking off to find them.
Kazuha’s voice is louder than usual, concern dripping from his tone, “Please hurry. It looks like it’s about to rain.” The redhead’s hiccups and sobs can still be heard on the other end. The others make arrangements for what’s to come next, leaving the stunned blonde clutching his phone tightly in silence.
---
Swollen fox-like eyes look to the sound of a car slowing to a stop, a small smile pulling on his lips. His head lifts from the other boy’s shoulder. Heizou quickly brings up his hands to rub at his reddened eyes, feeling more tears ready to spill any second. Alice rushes out of the car the second it stops, being by his side almost instantly.
“Oh honey..,” Her voice trails off slightly as she brings a hand up to wipe at his eyes.
Heizou jumps at the sudden contact, slowly relaxing and leaning into her touch. Another round of sobs rip through his throat as he reaches up to grip at her hand. As if she would disappear any second.
Rhinedottir gets out of the car as well, her blue eyes softening at the sight in front of her. She kneels down in front of the crying boy and pulls him into her arms gently. He reaches out towards the shorter of the two again, needing to feel that they’re both real and there. Alice holds his hand and gently squeezes.
The cat-like boy stands off to the side awkwardly, playing with the rings hugging his fingers. He opts to say a soft goodbye and start walking home. The last thing he wanted was to be caught up when it started raining.
Heizou sniffles quietly and weakly clears his throat, “‘Bedo.. wanna see ‘Bedo.” His voice is shaky and almost inaudible. The couple nods, separating from the teary boy but making sure not to go far.
The three push up from the ground, the redhead almost falling over in the process. They get in the car and start on the way back to an all too familiar home. Comfortable silence envelopes the vehicle every so often, at times being broken by conversation. Gentle red eyes constantly look in the rearview mirror. Alice kept a close eye on him while her wife drove.
---
Albedo’s ears perk up at the sound of the front door opening. He practically sprints down the stairs, almost knocking into his moms. Doe-like eyes quickly scan the trio before locking with tired green ones. Light footsteps echo loudly in his ears as he approaches his boyfriend. Before he can open his mouth to speak, Heizou pulls him in close.
Red locks tickle against the older’s neck as he wraps his own arms securely around the other’s shaky frame. His eyes lock with his mothers’, the sadness in his eyes obvious. He hated seeing Heizou like this. It felt so wrong seeing him like this.
“We’ll be back later,” Rhine’s voice breaks the silence. “There are some things we need to pick up at the store.” Her son nods in acknowledgment. The redhead stays glued to the poor blonde, opting to only wave them off.
The front door clicks shut once again behind the two women, leaving only Heizou and Albedo in the house. His little sister was at a sleepover at Diona’s house tonight. The blonde was somewhat grateful for that. He knows how much his boyfriend dislikes being seen in such a vulnerable state.
He gently pulls the other’s head from his neck, locking eyes with the boy. “Let’s head up to my room, yeah? It’s probably more comfy up there.”
Red hair falls in front of tired eyes from frantic nodding. A quiet giggle leaves the shorter boy at the sight, red erupting on the fox-like boy’s face. He whines and smacks at the older’s chest lightly. Another laugh leaves Albedo’s mouth as he takes hold of the other’s hand. The pair walk up the stairs, stopping while the blonde opened his door.
Inside the room was a fort-like blanket structure over a neatly made bed. It was overall a very cozy atmosphere, green eyes looking around in curiosity. He’s guided to the bed and panics slightly when his hand is let go. Heizou goes to make a quippy remark, but it dies all too quickly on his tongue when the shorter of the two lays down. Inviting arms are held out to him and he takes no extra time to get between them.
Heizou rests his head on Albedo’s chest, inhaling his familiar scent to calm himself down. He absolutely adored the smell of vanilla and lemon mixed with a slight hint of fresh paint. His body relaxes almost completely, tears long forgotten. The blonde was his safe space, the thought of being sad in his presence foreign to him.
“Y’know..,” Albedo trails off, trying to formulate a proper sentence. “For people who raised such an amazing young man, your folks really don't seem to live up to that.”
The redhead snorts at that, pressing his face into the older’s chest. He’d almost forgotten why he ended up here in the first place. Fingers gently grab his chin to turn his head, his eyes locking with ones so full of love and adoration. He can feel his heart melt in his chest.
Big blue eyes scan over Heizou’s face, humming when their eyes meet again, “I say fuck what they think. They’re the ones at a loss here for not loving you for the perfect boy you are.”
Heat rushes across the taller boy’s face, unable to hide with the hold on his chin. His boyfriend chuckles quietly, a blush of his own blooming on his cheeks. It felt nice to be the one doing the flustering for once. Albedo leans forward to press a quick kiss to the other’s lips, pulling away with a smile when Heizou chases after him.
His face moves closer again to press gentle kisses to the moles below Heizou’s eyes and his nose. He finally loosens his hold on his angel’s face, opting to bury his hand in messy red locks instead. Careful fingers tousle the strands slightly, earning an appreciative hum in response. They enjoy the comfortable silence for a while. As long as they were close to each other, words weren’t necessary.
Puffy green eyes slowly droop closed. The sound of a stable heartbeat next to his ear was lulling him into a peaceful nap, grip around his partner tightening a little.
“You getting sleepy, my love?” Albedo’s voice snaps him out of his trance for a moment, earning a small nod in response. “Go ahead, I’m not going anywhere.”
Heizou can feel a kiss being pressed to his forehead and temple, giving in to the urge to fully close his eyes. Soft snores sound throughout the room after a few minutes. A smile tugs at the blonde’s lips as he too closes his eyes to rest with his boyfriend.

I created a bunch of wheels to create random Genshin ships and choose random tropes to challenge myself to write new stuff. It also is something to help in case I ever have a bad case of writer's block. This is the first of those fics. You can expect a lot more in the future, hopefully.

1:47AM.
The clock on Albedo’s wall ticked quietly as the boy sat at his desk, nose buried in a textbook. Albedo’s desk was cluttered in loose paper and pencils. There was a big exam the coming week and doe-like eyes scan over every word in front of him. His eyes slightly droop closed, a sudden wave of exhaustion crashing down on him.
However, a sudden light tapping on his window snaps him out of his sleepiness. Albedo looks towards the source of the noise. His eyes widen as he shoots up from his chair, almost knocking it over in the process. He rushes over to open the window and practically throws it open in exasperation.
A fox-like boy squats on the roof of his boyfriend’s house, a wide grin on his face. He quietly shimmies in through the window, his feet quietly thudding against the floor.
The blonde stares wordlessly, utterly dumbfounded by the situation. For once, he’s at a complete loss for words. Heizou giggles at the red hue dusting the other’s cheeks. His thumb and forefinger gently wrap around the stunned boy’s chin, tilting his head to plant a kiss on Albedo’s lips. It was quick and sweet. The redhead pulls away with a goofy grin, red creeping onto his own face.
“Zouzou, it’s so late,” Albedo chokes out finally, his mind still trying to catch up. “What are you doing here?”
Heizou chuckles nervously, “I just missed you is all, I couldn’t sleep anyway.”
Redness erupts further across the poor deer-like boy’s face. The taller of the two smirks in satisfaction and moves to plop himself down on the other’s bed. He ruffles his red locks slightly and yawns, looking around the all too familiar room. His eyes eventually land on the papers and books strewn on the desk, brows furrowing.
“I know you’re always on top of your studies but love, it’s almost two in the morning,” he gently scolds. He understands that Albedo’s studies are really important to him, Heizou just wishes it didn’t cut into his sleep.
“I know Zouzou I-,” Albedo’s sentence is cut short by a quiet yawn. One of his hands comes up to rub at his tired eyes, the other lightly gripping the fabric of one of Heizou’s old hoodies. The fox-like boy’s eyes soften as he lays down, holding out his arms to his boyfriend.
Albedo’s eyes light up, scrambling to turn off his lamp and snuggle into the inviting embrace. He wraps his arms around Heizou and nuzzles his face into the crook of the younger’s neck, inhaling that comforting scent. The earthy smell of dirt mixed with the sweetness of flowers and cinnamon slowly lulling him to sleep.
Heizou plants a gentle kiss on the shorter boy’s temple, mumbling a ‘goodnight sweetheart’ before shutting his eyes. Sleep takes over his senses once he’s sure his lover is lost in his own dream world.
Hardly contained laughter causes the sleepy blonde to stir, instinctively curling into the warmth at his side. He reluctantly turns around in the gentle hold, his eyes landing on Rhinedottir. Albedo slowly blinks as he waits for his brain to catch up.
Suddenly, he shoots up from his laying position and flushes a deep red. Words form and die on his tongue as he stares at his mom, clutching her phone for dear life to not drop it. The figure behind the flustered blonde shifts slightly and joins him in sitting up. A mop of red hair covers his green eyes as he yawns, seemingly not yet processing the situation.
Once Heizou’s eyes focus he looks back and forth between the two blondes. A sudden flood of red on his cheeks only makes Rhine laugh harder, narrowly dodging a pillow her son threw at her.
“You two are just too cute, y’know that?” She coos before snapping another picture of the pair. “Lovely to see you around Shikanoin~!”
The fox-like boy grips his boyfriend and hides his face in his neck, obvious heat radiating from his cheeks. The shorter boy lets out a squeak and flails his arm slightly. Albedo’s mom shakes her head with a final fit of giggles. She tells the boys how breakfast should be done soon and to come down when they can. The heavy wooden door clicks shut softly as the room falls into silence.
Neither of the boys speak for a few minutes. Being caught left both boys in a state of shocked quiet, not knowing what to say to each other. The silence is soon broken though.
“Well.. G’morning,” Heizou mumbles into Albedo’s shoulder. He couldn’t find it in him to move yet, no matter his embarrassment already being obvious. A soft ‘morning’ falls from the other’s lips once he comes back to his senses.
Red bangs tickle the deer-like boy’s neck as a giggle falls from his lips. Heizou lifts his head and opts for resting his chin on Albedo’s shoulder. His green eyes are still dazed from the whole ordeal. A hand comes up to bury themselves in the taller boy’s hair, ruffling the already tousled locks even more.
“We should probably go eat,” Albedo says quietly. He doesn’t want to get up, but he knows he can’t avoid his family forever.
Heizou sighs dramatically with a grin pulling at the corners of his mouth, “Little Klee is probably gonna be really excited to see me.”
His statement was very much accurate. As the boys descend the stairs, hand in hand, the redhead is almost knocked down by a small ball of blonde fluff. Her red eyes stare up in excitement while she grips at the taller’s legs. The fox-like boy grips tighter onto her brother and steadies himself. His free hand comes into contact with Klee’s hair and messes it up slightly.
“Heizou, Heizou!!” Klee yells in happiness, practically bouncing on the balls of her feet.
A laugh escapes him, calling back to her just as excited. He’d always had a soft spot for the small girl. They got along very well and often worked together to pull pranks on Albedo.
Blue eyes glance towards the kitchen, catching his other mom’s teasing gaze. They definitely weren’t living this down anytime soon.
