Are you considering making Firestar purebred? Not that it matters to the plot lol. I’ve always designed him after an Abyssinian :3
I know the clans have a bunch of mixed genetics so they wouldn’t *be* purebred, but do you have any breed HCs for specific cats? I draw Yellowfang based on scrungly persians myself :)
Nah! I'm actually only considering purebred cats for SkyClan to put some more of their kittypet-ancestry on display!
I think thematically it works really well for SkyClan specifically, and will make for some really cool ancestral traits to be passed down in the coming generations... even though realistically, no cat with SkyClan ancestry would be "purebred."
(in fact purebreeding discourages outbreeding often to the detriment of the health of the cats but woogh)
I'm not super fond of picking out breed headcanons otherwise because it feels stifling, like Cat Genetics, another thing I'm not interested in. When I want Bluestar's family to have a wolf motif I just draw them having a wolf motif. Next to Brokenstar's glasses, Spottedleaf's blight theme, or Thrushpelt's mullet, just picking a cat breed seems mundane.
I like to design with "soft" fantasy elements in mind! It's why I have a very 'Bring Your Own Design' approach to my rewrite and encourage people to have different takes on stuff. Never been able to draw realistically.
(actual ecological/bushcraft/medical research? I'm plugged in. Drawing realism? Not my style.)
Though, I do think Silverflame's mate was a cat with extreme brachycephaly. A persian-like cat. I imagine Brightflower had a few breathing problems as a result, but by the time it got to Yellowfang she has enough muzzle to be healthy and for it to just be a quirk of her family.

imagine if bluestar x crookedstar was actually real and bluestar was silverstream’s mom and she brought her over to riverclan instead of moss, misty, and stone, and silverstream getting with graystripe and dying as a result is like tragic irony on both parts

#crookedblue4lyfe
Feat. a concept I have for a medieval themed pmv to Simon & Garfunkel’s Scarborough Fair lol. It’s a bit out there, but I think it’ll be a lot of fun if I can scrape together some motivation.
Crookedblue feels so much more angsty than Oakblue; two friends turned lovers who become seperated by the ambition that once connected them. (explanation of au below)
In this au I imagine they have an initial litter of Misty/Stone/Moss, the two survivors being raised by Greypool and Oakheart.
- Crookedstar sires a litter for his friend Willowbreeze but ends up raising Silverkit after her death.
- Mistyfoot and Stonefur feel at odds that he reared his full-clan daughter but only stayed in their life as an uncle
- Oakheart still dies keeping their parentage a secret and Greypool dies revealing it.
- Bluestar assumes he moved on from their relationship, but he never does; he becomes more aggressive towards Thunderclan to hide his mixed loyalties.
- Fireheart and Graystripe rescuing his grandkits and offering charity encourages him to open Riverclan up more. Things are very tense when he shelters Thunderclan from the forest fire and I imagine he has his last one on one conversation with Bluestar at this point.
- I think it’d be very dramatic if Crookedstar was assasinated by Leopardfur as puppeted by Tigerstar. His increased cooperation with Thunderclan being a primary motivater for both.

Draw you favorite Warriors _____
Yep, that's me with a new warriors challenge
Tumblr media
So, here I'll post the reasons why
Mother & kit
So, Ivypool and Bristlefrost are not the most important and well written relationships, but I like to headcanon them, and just preying for writers not to make Bristle come back in her mother's novel
Siblings
I adore how Stonefur and Mistyfoot had their own calm River Clan live, before the big drama of first series. Also a great idea is their similar design. Just not so popular but rather iconic duo
GAY ship
Okay, okay. I know that here is usually Tall×Jake or Raven×Barley, but I really like relationships of Talltail and Barkface. I mean a brown medicine cat was earlier to see beauty in Tall and they are so cute
Father & kit
Just Tree and Rootspring. Those relationships exist, they are not toxic and work so well in first 3 books of the Broken Code. And just the way they acted together is so nice
Friendship
So neat. Jayfeather and Briarlight are awesome. They are really happy and funny. Just they remind me of something from past. Something from childhood.
HETERO ship
At this point I don't know who likes Oakheart more, or Bluestar. OK just kidding. Although I still think that it's the best forbidden romance in WC. Cause it was one of first ant rather plot relevant.
Grandparent & grandkit
There is no that much of those relationships, but I think Tawnypelt and Shadowsight are just adorable together.
Mentor & apprentice
Ohhh, here they are! A nightmare of Thunder Clan. I like how Tigerpaw and Thistleclaw had their dark and cruel story together. And even though they are really not positive characters they were happy to make some shenanigans
LESBIAN ship
Alright. Before Whistlepaw and Frostpaw I didn't have any favorite girl gay pair, bit now I truly adore those girls. Just, I think, most creative ships are all about medicine cats. But I prefer for Mothwing to be AroAce so no Moth×Pool for me.

Star Tigerclaw
Tumblr media
Design Notes:
Here he is!!! Tigerclaw based on a white tiger!!! love this design so much ??? omggg
he has his mother Snowstorm's blue colorpoint gene , but he has dark black stripes like his dad Thistleclaw!
Character Bio:
Star Tigerclaw
Straight; Cis Tom; he/him
Age as of 1st arc's beginning: 4 cycles, 4 moons; ~33 Hyrs
Title meaning: -claw =  a cat who is very skilled in battle; they fight ferociously with their claws; may have distinctive claws, most likely extra large or sharp.
Warrior -> Guard Charge -> Second of Thunder Order; he was in line due to being Star Bluefrost's nephew. He was banished for murder and an attempted takeover of the Order.
Leader of Shadow Order; was in no way in line for Shadow leadership, he convinced the Order that he would be their best choice for leadership, as he came from a long line of powerful leaders and he would keep the Order strong after their many recent losses.
Second: Vulturemask; was in line and should have been leader due to being the previous Shadow Leader (Star Brokentail)'s Second and mate.
Mentor: Star Sunfall
Mother: Snowstorm
Father: Thistleclaw
Siblings: Sky; Shine; Shimmer; Lynxstorm
Ex-Mates: Goldenflower; Star Leopardpelt (Political marriage, ended when Tiger died)
Kits: Swift; Brambleflower; Star Tawnyclaw; Mothwing; Tadpolefrog; Star Hawkfrost
Grandkits: Falconclaw; Jaywing; Dove; Dawnpelt; Goldenheart; Flamespirit; Dovesong; Ivythorn; Junipersnow; Dandeliondust
Other notable kin: Star Pineheart (grandfather); Leopardfoot (Grandmother); Sootfur (nephew); Sorreltail (niece); Rainwhisker (nephew)
Character notes: Tigerclaw actually did truly love Goldenflower, and he was actually a pretty good mate and father before this betrayal was revealed. Golden cat divorced him during his banishment and Tiger chose to become mates with Star Leopardpelt soon after as a political marriage, this relationship was loveless and only for political gain and a continuation of their bloodline through their kits.
Character Backstory:
Tigerclaw and Lynxstorm were Thistleclaw and Snowstorm's second litter, their first was one of three kits which all tragically passed due to a premature birth (their names, Sky, Shine and Shimmer were given in reference to the Stars, as they joined them almost as soon as they were born).
Thistleclaw took great interest in Tigerclaw, as he was the strongest, and most alike him out of the pair of brothers. Due to this Tiger was greatly influenced by Thistle, with his father trying to pass on as much of his ideals and attitude as possible. The tom often gave Tiger extra training sessions in the dark forest, or during the night, sometimes White would be included as well though he never went to the Dark Forest (Thistle knew that White would tell on them).
Snowstorm died early on into her sons' apprenticeships and as a result Thistle became even more rash and cruel which only increased the extreme extra training Thistle put Tiger, and sometimes Lynx under. Thistleclaw's cruelty and actions made his sons hate him (they had also noticed how cruel he could be to their mother before her death as well, and hated him even more for it), White stayed away from his father all together, however Tiger wanted to continue training with him to increase his power and skill.
Despite hating his father and denying that he would ever become a cat like him, Tiger took on much of Thistle's teachings, the tom is adamantly anti-outsider and codebreaking and is very bloodthirsty just like his father. Though maybe Tigerclaw never fully believed the anti mixed blood, outsider and adamant code following ideals, maybe deep down he just liked them because it gave him power over other cats, and a seemingly "devout" and "loyal" exterior.
The first cat Tiger ever killed was Thistleclaw, after Thistle's grooming of Spotted was revealed Tiger joined Bluefrost, Lynxstorm and Redtail in assassinating Thistleclaw. Tiger hated his father and despite him agreeing with many of his views, he was horrified by his actions towards Spotted. He had other motives as well, Thistle was a high ranking warrior who used his power to control Tiger for his own gain, Tiger did not want to be anyone's pawn, he wanted the power for himself. After killing his father Tiger realized how much he liked the power in killing a cat, which wasn't all to surprising, but it was all the more reason he was so willing to kill later in his life.
Despite being an obviously bloodthirsty and increasingly cruel cat, Bluefrost refused to believe that her nephew was anything like his father. She desperately wanted to trust her sister's kits, and Tigerclaw was apprenticed to Blue's pseudo father Star Sunfall who Blue was certain would counteract any of Thistle's impact on Tiger. Of course Blue didn't know about Tiger's extra training, nor did she know about his secret lust for power.

Aight takin a quick com break to share my ideas on the KITTY FAMILYYYY <3 (aka my take on Forneus and her kits) Headcanons under cut cuz some of them are sAD and also I tend to blather on.
Forneus has always wanted kits of her own, though perhaps not a Tom in her life to get them (She is content as she is, a traveling merchant who sees so many faces, so many stories in a day). So, by the power of a one-night stand with some dashing tall tom, she gets her wish. Albeit bittersweet when her kits come stillborn. She prays and prays to the god of death, begging, pleading for her babies to come back to her but its not Narinder that hears her fervent prayers first. She's given a choice by the god of war...Bury them as is her right, or give the kits to them. They will take them to death's gate where they just might know a shadow of life. She leapt at the chance. Not one day goes by where she doesn't think of her two little toms and how they must have grown. She knows, in her heart, they will return to her somehow..and she will know them by sight and scent the second she sees them. Aym and Baal grew up in the gateway with their master. They were a gift to a lonely god and in them he found some semblance of company and...love. Of course we all know Narinder is not the besssst of influences and it shows in the two young toms. They are fiercely loyal, quick to temper (in aym's case), and deadly in combat. Though it wasn't always so. Kits must learn and they must grow... Accidents are bound to happen- (perhaps like being given a new sharp pointy weapon only to hurt yourself immediately thereafter and have the god of death pinch your scruff between two claws to make you stop squirming as he heals you) Though their cloaks are nice and warm, the pair have only ragged tunics beneath it. After all, not many dead arrive with a) nice clothes and b) clothes big enough for the toms. Its fineeee. they're fineeee. After the events of the game, Aym and Baal choose to stay with the cult to be close to their mother and Master. Baal eventually finds himself a mate and even settles down, having a litter of twins with his orange tabby queen named Fion <3 Aym is content for a time, staying with his family and his new niece and nephew...but eventually wander lust grips him as it gripped his mother. He heads out into the world and, though he sends a sparse letter here and there, he has not been seen since. Lamb think's he's crossed the sea. Hopefully he finds whatever hes looking for. to end this on a happy note: Forneus loves her grandkits and would die for them. She has also slapped Narinder. Once. (you dont call yourself a poor father figure to kits you took care of. not around her. "You were all they had! They love you and cherish you do NOT spit in their faces so!"

Took a few days but I got this done! :D Most of that time was spent tweaking and re-tweaking Tawnypelt because good lord I could not get her looking how I wanted. I'm still not happy with her but I'm sick of looking at this so oh well, this is what you get. XD Maybe I'll play with it again later if I feel like it.
Tawnypelt may still be annoying me, but I'm really really happy with how Moonpaw and Leafstar turned out. :D I wanted to really lean into how old and tired Leafstar would be looking at her age and after all her losses. Her pelt is duller and scruffy in her older age, she's gotten thinner simply due to age and having trouble keeping on weight, failing sight was mentioned in the blurb for The Elder's Quest so I made her pupils more dilated and foggy. She's just very old and very tired and very done with losing everyone she loves and seeing her Clan suffer over and over again. The choice of three stars in her eyes isn't based off of any solid evidence as we have no idea how many lives she actually has left, but it felt like a nice low number to have left after such a long leadership, without contradicting anything against her only having a single life left, ya know?
Tawnypelt is old too, hence the scruffy pelt and thinner frame, but I imagine after Tawnypelt's Clan she's more at peace with where she is in life and that she'll see her loved ones again one day, and unlike Leafstar she does still have a lot of grandkits running around and other kin. Moonpaw jus looks worried because from the blurb it sounds like she's not about to have a fun time in the new books. XD

Dartclan
Dartclan lives in the rockiest part of the mountains, previously neighboring Featherclan. Their relationship with Featherclan was also rocky at best. Dartclan is known to be calculated, as well as looking after their own being their main priority. The other clans think they're cold by nature, but Dartclan also has the hardest time with prey and their territory is dangerous by nature. If one were to take a peek into their everyday life, they would see how much the cats care for one another. They have the least amount of clan members usually. Except for Featherclan now.
Tumblr media
Hollowstar is Dartclan's leader. He is often seen as somewhat controlling and cold, but what he does is the best for his clan. In his eyes anyways. The clan appreciates him and respects him. He hasn't steered them wrong yet. He considers the clan his family, and has a kit that came from outside of the clan. His current apprentice is Lakepaw, one of the deputy's grandkits.
Tumblr media
Crestfur is the current clans deputy. She's mentored a lot of the current clan members, and is highly respected because of it. Not a soul questions her kit's father. It's absolutely none of their business that he was an outsider. She currently has four kits that are all adults, though one now rests with starclan. Their three grandkits also have a parent outside of the clan, but no one seems to bat an eye.
Tumblr media
Greenmask is one of the kindest members of Dartclan. She can fight, but is better at escaping nasty situations. The clan does it's best to protect her, since she's also one of the smaller members and she is a very good medicine cat. She currently has an apprentice named Fluffypaw, who will become the second medicine cat of Dartclan. Dartclan is the most strict with medicine cats, meaning Greenmask isn't allowed to have a mate or kits. But that doesn't mean she can't dream.
Tumblr media
Darknettle is a warrior of Dartclan. When she was an apprentice she was made an example of in front of the whole clan. She thinks Hollowstar still holds that over her, though he was the one to give her the holly leaves. He was also the one to arrange her and her mate getting together. There was a long period with little to no kits, so Hollowstar has been encouraging kits. Her mate's name was Halfheart, and initially they got along. Well enough to have two kits before they broke up. Everyone in the clan was expecting this, and Hollowstar really doesn't mind as long as there are more kits.
This is the final clan! I know these were all relatively long posts, but I enjoy talking about them all. I'm hoping at least someone enjoys knowing more about these cats that are going to probably only show up for one or two updates. Also they will not be going on the allegiances since that is mainly/only for Featherclan and Featherclan's passed cats. If I ever feel like adding them I might, but do not expect it lol.

did you already start planning squirrelstar's leader ceremony and if so who's giving her the 9 lives?
I'm still a bit concerned that the writers will pull something with her 9 lives, but I've got so many good choices for BB!Squilf that it's not an issue to start considering who's gonna turn up for her.
Plus, honestly, NOT totally interested in abiding by canon if they commit the dumbshit we're suspecting they might. Pre-emptively biting and killing it.
Here's the list of candidates so far. Everyone with a * is a definite yes;
Goldenflower Her mentor in BB, replacing Dustpelt! After everything Squilf has gone through with Bramblestar, and after Golfy took her son's side after the big reveal, it feels good for her to show up with a life for Judgement. To decide when to listen to her heart, but also, when to realize when it is leading her astray.
Sandstorm Mother choice is a solid one, though I'm leaning towards giving this life to Ferncloud for variety. Squilf's got 5 immediate relatives here to give her a life.
Hollylark* Her grandkit, and Sparkpelt's mate who sacrificed xeir life to take her illness away. Xey'd give her a life for Interdependence, for all of the connections that bind a Clan together. Love, friendship, convenience, family. Squilf is familiar with sacrifice in service of it... but it's more than that. To love is to BE loved-- she must accept reciprocity. And... xey'd make some kind of loaded comment about Nightheart, knowing that neither one of them want to talk badly about him. I might end up changing xeir life to something like "letting go," as foreshadowing for how I'm absolutely planning for Nightheart to NOT return to ThunderClan after his road trip with Frostpaw. BUT I don't decide arcs until they're done so we'll have to seeeeee
Firestar* Basically required. Squirrelstar is his daughter, the successor of his ideology, and the follow-up to a leader that Firestar considers a mistake. His chats at these sorts of ceremonies often get wistful, so I feel like they'd talk about second chances, wanting people to be better than they are, how to fix things that are broken and when they aren't worth the effort. He says it explicitly, "You're just like me. A spark of my flames, burning bright, long after I've become starlight..." His life would be for Progress. To continue to evolve and grow, to never be so stuck in the past that she can't see the future, to know when things can be fixed and when they must be broken.
Rosepetal I want to save her on one hand, but on the other, having her go out in a blaze of glory at some point in ASC or TBC is a good reason why Squilf didn't make her deputy. Rose was her first apprentice and has always been a dedicated, passionate warrior who would deeply want that spot. If she's here for the 9 lives ceremony, she'd give Squilf a life for Ferocity. "Give them twice the Hell you always do, so that it's like I'm right there next to you."
Shrewface* (Shrewpaw in life.) Her guardian angel. He helped her hide the secret of Leafpool's pregnancy, and has always stood over her, providing help secretly. Now he can finally stand before her and give her a life. He would actually stumble and chuckle, because he's wanted to do it for so long he's blanking on the life he wants to give her. On one paw, Squilf is a little annoyed. It's a super serious leader ceremony, holy moment in her life, but on the other... Shrewface is so HAPPY! His joy is infectious. He's standing before her as the adult he would have been, but under that, she sees the funny teenage best friend that she lost so long ago. It feels almost like being a kid again. So she picks her own life by saying, "How about one for Joy?" And he says, "Hey that's a great idea!"
Rainwhisker A ThunderClan cat who died in the WindClan Civil War, and someone she remembers fondly. The life he gives is a life for Collateral. He has no shame in how he died, and he believes Firestar's call was the right one. But he needs to remind Squirrelflight that beliefs are backed with blood. Every time she brings her Clan into war, there is a chance that someone will die because of her choice. He restates that he believes his death was noble; but his life will remind her of the cost that someone else might pay.
Sootfur If it's not Rainwhisker, I'd like his brother Soot to be here. I think his death was haunting, with how Squilf couldn't save him, watching him tumble down a rockface because of his broken leg and being brutally murdered by what-is-now a boar. She's carried guilt from how she couldn't save him her whole life, so in contrast to Rainwhisker, his life is for Acceptance. To remember that not everything is her fault, and she could NEVER be so perfect as to avoid all of life's misfortunes. Even if others pin blame onto her for something she couldn't control; no leader is powerful enough to save everyone. Thinking about it though, I might really try to slot BOTH of these guys in. I think the contrast of the two back to back is powerful; that actions have consequences, but not every tragedy is a consequence.
Ferncloud She just died very recently, taking both Graystripe's super edition AND his sacrifice in the Dark Forest. Graystripe is still alive, living at the tribe with his son Stormfur. She confronted Ashfur for Squilf, so it feels right that she also comes to support her here. Ferncloud, for the first time in so many years, looks at peace. She isn't gray and grizzled anymore, but sleek and vibrant. Her family surrounds her, Dustpelt, Elderberry, Brindleface, her many lost kits. So, the life that she gives Squilf is for Faith. In StarClan that she will always have Clanmates in the skies to watch out for her, in her Clan that there will always be future angels fighting by her side.
Longtail Her uncle, and Jayfeather's mentor who trained him into the full angel-punching cat he became. During the big trial she has in Squirrelflight's Horror, Longtail was one of her loudest supporters, and eventually nudged her backwards so her son could grab her ankle and drag her back down to the mortal plane. He's always been her wonderful uncle, so, he might end up taking that life for Faith from Ferncloud. Just depending.
Feathertail* I want her to show up in the ceremonies of every patrol cat who achieves power, as a given. If we get Crowstar, I also want her to be there. I just think it's nice that if Crow, Bramble, and Squilf ever did end up able to chat about this together, in spite of the TANGIBLE awkwardness of the three of them being in the same room, they'd be able to make a joke about Feathertail Gives You A Life and it would land a little TOO hard, be a little TOO funny, because they were hoping that SOMETHING would lighten the air and it did. But anyway, this incredibly specific desire aside, Feathertail Gives You A doobie life for Tranquility. That the once-impulsive Squirrelstar will be able to slow down and consider every action, to take a deep breath in stressful times and think about what she's about to do. That as leader she will be under immense pressure, yeah, but also immense power. She can always afford to take a moment before making a big decision.
Leafpool* MANDATORY. There's NO reality where I do not end off this ceremony with Leafpool. When she steps up, they can't look at each other without crying. It overwhelms them, to the point where Squilf can't even choke out her sister's name. Leafpool, meanwhile, has gotten used to controlling her body while her heart breaks into billions of little pieces. She'd done it for her whole life, and now, she does it again in death. "this life is for love," she touches her night-cold nose to Squirrelstar's, and the new leader's vision begins to fade into black, "you know why." From the darkness, memories burst forth. Of them as kits, their silly games and dreams, how they planned to one day be the cleric and leader of ThunderClan together. The terrible loneliness of being separated while Squirrelpaw was on the Sundrown Patrol. The ache in Leafpool's heart whenever she saw her sister mistreated; how she gave up on relationships with Crowfeather and, to some extent, with Mothwing as well so she could serve her Clan and stay with her family. The three kits, the anxiety as Squirrelflight took them, the way it felt like Leafpool was being flayed to give them up. Parenting, loyalty, betrayal as Hollyleaf snapped and revealed the secret Squirrelflight desperately didn't want to keep, the guilt that Leafpool felt watching her suffer for helping her. The way they always felt like, on some level, it was them against the world.
And then she wakes up, back on the shore of the Moonpool, with her Clerics beside her. Leafpool is gone. StarClan is, once again, very far away, and she's left with nothing but the cold feeling on her nose and the looming specter of war ahead of her.
12 candidates in total, but only 9 can take the spot. So I'll trim it down once we get there!
