We have been on a Herkimer Diamond kick the last 2 weeks. We rarely have had larger Herkimers, nor have we had this large of a selection. Thus, we decided to do a big feature on them! It’s been a blast getting them ready for you. - Herkimer Diaminds come from mines in Herkimer, NY. They are not actually diamonds, but Quartz. The higher the clarity, the more valuable they are. Unusual formations (like the one in the picture) are also coveted. They are mined through a process called hard rock mining, which is a rather difficult form of mining when all is said and done. Most Herkimers are double terminated with 18 faces. They are found in a dolomitic limestone rock which are said to be around 500 million years old! I do have some! They are based off of some diamonds I own, one being a small blue one, a brilliant cut white one (that looks much like a Paragon), and some others! Most are always a never ending WIP, but here’s a finalized one:)

Based off heavily off of me and my Herkimer Diamond necklace:)))

He doesn’t belong to any authority, and isn’t entirely a diamond (since irl herkimers are actually quartzes from a specific area) but shhhh don’t tell him or you’ll disappoint him,,, he’s more or less like a hybrid gem between a quartz and a diamond, much like a lower ranking diamond. He has the ability to create all sorts of gems in any color due to the way light travels through his gem. Unlike the other diamonds, Herkimer is a bit more grounded and knows where he stands, but can get a little overdramatic when things don’t go as intended. He is well liked and respected, but not because of his position and his work, if not for how he is very fair with others. He expects gems to do their intended roles but is very lenient with it, giving them lots of free time and a whole set of sub-roles within a specific branch. He also encourages hobbies and self discovery, but discipline as well.

Herkimer Diamonds are named for their place of discovery, Herkimer County New York. They get their double terminations because they grow in small pockets, having little contact with their host stone, which makes them more rare. 

Some uses include:
