so first and foremost the obvious:

Harley Quinn and Chance the clown

Look her outfits have such clear homages

They’ve admitted she’s based on Harley and Carnival of Carnage has her calling Jack puddin. She gets sick of playing second fiddle and takes over, just like Harley. It’s so obvious.

Jack and Joker

Murder clowns with pigtailed second in command who splits off after being overshadowed? You bet.

Lady Luck and Poison Ivy

Redhead inhuman bombshells who seduce men for what they want, not giving a shit about the men themselves.

Scarecrow and Caretaker

Ok first one with huge visual difference but c’mon. They both do experiments involving the study of fear, that is not common

Riddler and The Director

Perfectionists with some compulsive tendencies. Clever but has a short fuse, very opinionated

The usher and Mr Freeze

Generally reasonable. You’re barely in any danger if you’re not screwing with their things or their home, but ruthless when you threaten or mistreat what they love

Points can also be made for Scarecrow being the director as he wishes to film ‘true fear’ and Riddler as the usher, having a tendency to play with their victims and being very orderly, as well as the perfectionism again.

Details from the “Jack Sack” I made for myself for my JRNC Little Girl cosplay that I wore to Spooky Empire 

This bag is based off of the sack used to blind victims in the Carnage Returns stage show from HHN 25 (and that made an Easter Egg appearance in Carnival Graveyard last year). Hand sewed and hand painted! (Freehand drew the image before cutting it apart to stencil it on the bag). 

I tried to add as many little details as I could including “Wonder Bread” lining based off of Jack’s costume, an adjustable noose handle, striped drawstring based off of the ropes used to bind Mark in Carnage Returns, and a little extra blood for character/ love. Also note that this is sized/ oriented to fit a human head, but let’s hope it never really has to come to that, shall we? 

There are definitely things I wish I could have perfected/ have done better, but for making this in pretty much one day I’m SUPER happy with how it turned out!

New Verse - A Job Unfinished

//So for somewhat obvious reasons, I am setting up a new verse with Ray relating to Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights. This’ll probably just be seasonal, but who knows! 

Everything in the area had been cleared. They’d been told that there was no reason for them to remain in the area. They had other places to go, other people who needed their help. Ray himself had signed off on the final sweep. Sure, there had been a tiny blip on the PKE meter when he had scanned a jack-in-the-box prop that the company had just acquired, but nothing serious enough to warrant them staying. Old objects like that always seemed to have some kind of energy attached to them. It wasn’t until years later, after it was too late to stop the carnage, that the Ghostbusters realized their grave mistake. Heavy with guilt from what they had let slide by them, Ray aims to set things right. But have the horrors that were unleashed grown too much for the occultist to handle?

How did you get into hhn? -soulnottainted

Ello friendo! It was through quarantine, I was watching labyrinth videos (yes the movie labyrinth) and Disney history videos when "history of Halloween horror nights" came on my recommended. I have watched the "Carnival of Carnage returns" before but I didn't know the characters had a backstory. I took me a week to actually watch it due to me putting it off to listen to Phantom of the opera, but when I did I was hooked! I wanted to find cosplays, fanfics, and fanart! So that's how I got into HHN!

HC + Tarot

In his carnival of carnage/hhn verse, one of the skills Kasey was taught was to ready tarot cards. (I decided this because there is actually in the advertising a lot of tarot imagery, as the IP characters from New Line, including Freddy, were shown on tarot-esque cards, I think with one ad actually showing a reading with those cards?)

Despite the fact that he's just incredibly mentally broken, he often acts as the fortune teller of the Icons, with many of them coming to him because he isn't like actively bullshitting them since he's a bit too naive to do so and also has an ear to the ground since he has a sort of supernatural energy. His most frequent "customers" are the Story Teller and the Director for sure.

He was also taught by one Dr. Pennetti, RIP to a real one, and is kind of his unofficial replacement after Jack killed the guy. That includes Chance flirting with him a little to rile Jack up. ...so far that hasn't killed him.

What are your views on the HHN icons?

“Ooh, good question. I better watch what I say, though. Any one of them could find out what I’m about to tell you.”

Jack: “Outright sadist. What he did to Kels was disgusting and totally inexcusable. You do not take someone’s child and exploit them in your little carnival just to get views on YouTube or whatever intentions he had.”

Eddie: “He’s cool. A lot of people say he’s a maniac with a chainsaw but for the most part he’s a down-to-earth guy who’s a bit troubled. I sort of miss the guy.”

Chance: “Since she’s Jack’s girlfriend, I don’t think very highly of her, but in a way, I feel bad for her. She’s been through a lot, from being in that Carnival of Carnage to getting committed to Shadybrook. Hell, there’s times where I don’t even mind Chance’s company. But in the end, I still need to watch my back around her… unless I wanna find a knife stuck in my spine.”

Dr. Albert Caine: “Creepy, creepy, creepy. I had a run-in with him back when I was first getting on my feet in Carey that I won’t ever forget. Let’s just say his living autopsies aren’t easy to watch, especially against your will.”

Cindy: “I almost got roped into babysitting her once. She had the same fifth grade teacher as my little sister Hayley, but thankfully Hayley warned me about her spiked tea and her deadly dollies. And plus, her dad’s that creepy doctor! You wouldn’t catch me outside that Manor unless I was dead.”

Paulo: “…he scares me, and it doesn’t help that I have frequent run-ins with him over at the Universal Palace. His films practically scarred me for life, and that’s all I’m gonna say on the matter.”

Elsa: “Contrary to popular belief, Elsa is pretty chill. Sometimes I visit her and we chat over tea. Just don’t get on her bad side unless you wanna lose your tongue.”

Julian: “I used to work at the Palace before working full-time here at ZAP. He did sort of scare me at first, but he’s one of the nicest people I know. And even though he’s one of Fear’s heralds, he’s always looking out for me. After all, I’m his favorite employee… although not a lot of people even survived to claim that title.”

Fear: “Our biggest threat… well, seven years ago he was. Now that Adaru’s trapped in the lantern for another several more years, he’s not much of a threat, but he’s still on our radar. But when I saw him in the flesh… he’s tall. And he looks like a tree. Oh, and did I mention he’s absolutely terrifying?!”

Lady Luck: “I haven’t seen her around lately. I wonder why… her ‘Your luck has run out’ schtick ran its course. I don’t need to be told my luck’s running out all the time as I live another day of my life.”

Dr. White: “I think he’s hilarious! He came all the way from Singapore to see how the Icons are doing and he’s popped in here every once in a while. Granted, he doesn’t have the medical experience as Dr. Caine does, so he’s less of a threat. But I’ve gotten to know Victor and personally, I’d trust him with my life. I just hope he wouldn’t ever make me contort my body like that bone guy, though.”
