Solid Snake Impression: When did you first start watching Seán?
In early March 2017 when I found his Night in the Woods series!
Survival Hunter: What kinds of games/series do you like watching him play the most? (ex. puzzle, survival, horror, silly, short, long?)
I love watching him play story games because I can get really immersed even if it would be hard to play the game myself.
The Stanley Parable: What series have you NEVER watched?
I know this is like heresy or something, but I’ve never watched a full episode of Happy Wheels. I’m sure there’s other series of his that I don’t know about and haven’t watched.
Surgeon Simulator: Do you laugh when Seán rages at games, or do you get just as frustrated as he does?
Kind of both? I’m thinking about Getting Over It, where we all had a laugh but it’s so frustrating even to watch.
Life Is Strange: What series can you always go back to and pick up wherever?
The only series I can watch out of order, even if I’ve already seen it, are the ones like Reading Your Comments or Will You Push The Button where the order doesn’t matter.
Reading Your Comments: What’s your favorite thing about being in the community?
We have almost no drama, and when something does happen it’s resolved in like a day. Not that we’re perfect, but I’ve never felt sucked into arguments and crap like I do with fandoms sometimes.
Shadow of the Colossus: What’s your favorite series of all time?
I’m biased towards Night in the Woods because that was my first, but Stories Untold is up there. I’ve been meaning to rewatch it.
Subnautica: Have you ever gotten a game for yourself after seeing Seán play it?
Yes! Night in the Woods (before I finished watching his playthrough actually), Monster Prom, and Event[0].
The Sims: What series can you listen to in the background while you do other things?
Things like House Flipper which are kind of funny but not brain intensive.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Have there been any games you wished he would’ve finished, but never did?
I wish he’d done more than one episode of Stardew Valley. You can’t “finish” that in a Let’s Play, but it’s a shame he didn’t get to make more.
Fran Bow: What’s your favorite horror series on the channel?
I haven’t actually watched a lot of his horror series. Probably Stories Untold if that counts as horror, otherwise Oxenfree.
Undertale: What video/series do you think has had the biggest impact on you?
In a meta sense, the NITW series had the biggest impact because it’s why I watched all the others. Watching Sean’s DDADDS playthrough was when it hit me how accepting he is, which was honestly a huge relief. Not that I thought he wasn’t, but it was still good to see.
Happy Wheels: What’s the longest series (in number of parts or video duration) that you’ve watched all the way through in ONE sitting? (If you’ve never watched a whole series in one sitting, what’s the longest series you’ve ever watched in general?)
I’m so bad about watching a lot of things in one sitting. I probably would have watched A Normal Lost Phone (two episodes) in one sitting if I weren’t watching them as they came out. I’m currently watching Detroit:Become Human, so when I’m done with that it will be the longest series I’ve watched in general.
The Jacksepticeye Power Hour: Are you following ego lore? If so, who’s your favorite ego and why?
I do follow Ego lore, but not as intensely as the true theorists because I don’t pay that much attention to background things. My favorite ego is currently JJ, though I love the others too.
Bloopers and Outtakes: What’s your favorite blooper of him you’ve ever seen?
Either “Robin! I’m drunk!” or “I need more volume in my curls.” Honorable mention: “My name Cletus and that’s my chair!”
The Last Guardian: What’s a video/series that always makes you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside?
So many? How do I even choose? I’m going to go with DDADDS.
Detention: What video/series/moment on the channel is the most memorable for you?
I almost have Marvin’s Power Hour memorized. Not intentionally, but every moment in that episode is iconic.
Night In The Woods: Have there been games he’s played/series that resonated especially with you as a person? What were they?
Definitely. Night in the Woods is the main series that did because it’s about mental illness and dissociation. Other one-shot games or moments hit me in the moment I watched them and left an impression. Sometimes I remember a moment from “What Remains of Edith Finch” and it still hits as hard as the first time even though it’s been months since I watched it.
Kindergarten: What have been your favorite voices for game characters he’s ever done?
Mae and Papyrus, but honestly every voice he does is gold.
Bendy and the Ink Machine: What games are you most excited to see him play in the future?
I hope he someday finishes the sequel to To The Moon. It’s fine if he doesn’t, but if it’s anything like the first it would be a nice heart-wrenching game for the channel.
Septicart Event: Have you made any good friends since joining the community?
Edit: I forgot to answer this one. I have made friends IRL that I probably would have had anyway, but we’ve bonded more by watching Jack together.
Far From Noise: Have there ever been moments when watching a video that he’s said something that you just needed to hear in that moment? If you’re comfortable sharing, what video was it?
I know this has happened on multiple occasions, but I can’t remember specifically. “Far From Noise” did come at a very appropriate time in my life though.
Doki Doki Literature Club: What series has taken you the most by surprise, and why?
Honestly, DDLC for obvious reasons. Life is Strange also surprised me because of how anticlimactic the ending was.
Human Fall Flat: What video/series makes you laugh the most?
The bloopers! I can’t breathe from laughing when I watch the bloopers.
Charity Livestream: What’s your favorite part of charity livestreams? (ex. the playing games part, reading donations, hitting goals, MadLibs, etc.)
I love having Sean on in the background all day while I do other things. Like he’s there and interacting with the community and I can tune in and out.
Simulacra: What series had you feeling the most on edge while waiting for the next episode?
I’m usually slow to watch series, so I rarely have to wait long. I do remember being tense while waiting for the second episode of A Normal Lost Phone.
The BOSS: If you were stuck in a video game but got to choose which one to be stuck in, what game would you be in, and why? (Optional: bring Seán with you!)
DDADDS! It’s a short game, I get to be a dad dating dads, and if Sean comes we can share custody of Amanda. I date Robert, he dates Craig, and everything is great.
God of War: Whats your favorite JSE community meme?
POSITIVE! MENTAL! ATTITUDE!!!!!
Tour Vlogs: If you could give Seán one thing (literally anything– a piece of art, a plane ticket, something you wrote, something from a game he’s played, whatever it may be), what would that one thing be?
A hug.
Stories Untold: What series have you gotten the most immersed in while watching it?
You said it! Stories Untold!
TIE: Has Seán had an impact on your mental health? (If yes answer to this can be as long or as short as you want)
Not only did Sean introduce me to Night in the Woods, which I played to get through a couple of funks, but he also indirectly introduced me to the concept of comfort gaming. Whether I’m watching him play something chill or playing something on my own, video games can be relaxing.
A Way Out: What are your favorite collabs of his to watch? (ex. Prop Hunt/GMod, Golf With Friends, Sea of Thieves, A Way Out)
Sea of Thieves is hilarious because it’s so broken and also pirates. Any time he and Robin hang out is always fun.
Detroit: Become Human: What game characters has Seán made you the most emotionally attached to?
Honestly, I think I just get attached to who I get attached to regardless. Like while watching DBH I got attached to Markus even before Sean started liking him.

Fandom Meme
A - Ships that you currently like a lot. (They don’t have to be OTPs because not everyone has OTPs.) Friendships, pairings, threesomes, etc. are allowed.
Uuuh, well, lemme think, for fantoms that aren’t sonic stuff, I enjoy Retsuko and Haida because adorable. Angus and Gregg from NITW is too adorable for it’s own good.
Sonic wise, well, I’m not strong on my ships but they’re are some I do think about or do think are matching, I think Shade and Knuckles are a good match, I enjoy Espio and Tikal, especially in my canon.
I do love Locke and Luger a lot though, since I can see them working in my canon, but other then that, I’m not huge on ships so eh.
B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.
Locke and Luger, mainly because they were related but then with some fanart and talking with friends of mine, especially @terraqua111, I started to like it and my friends had a point that they were too distantly related for it to matter anymore. She also showed me Lien-Da and Xenin which I liked.
I also didn’t consider Locke to be paired with anyone else before Luger, then I saw @lockewat‘s ship, Chuck and Locke... and I thought it was quite suiting as well.
Two other ones are Vanilla and Big because that was so adorable and that would be such a peaceful relationship good god it’s what they’d both need, so many picnics for dates. and @motobugg did some work on Rouge and Wave which I have never considered and I immediately thought... damn that would actually work a lot. XD Also Shadamy at some points due to a friends artwork and Shadow would be balanced from Amy’s personality that he would need.
C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will. I’ve never been big on Julie-Su and Knuckles, in the comics it felt kind of forced to me, same with Sonic and Sally, that I don’t see them suiting each other at all.
D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.
Ummm, I don’t know, I can’t think of one.
E - Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom? If so, what?
Uuuuuuuuhhhhhhhh, I don’t know.
F - What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom?
Sonic fandom. XDD Been in that for around 8-9 years. Since I was 9 or 10 years old.
G - Have you ever had an OTP? If so, do you remember your first one? Who was in it?
I think it would’ve just been Shade and Knuckles. lol Again ships aren’t my life.
H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., TV shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)?
Mainly ongoing stuff, I know it started with games, so I guess games? But I enjoy shows/series as well.
I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?
Ummmm... not that I know of.
J - Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.)
Animal Crossing? I didn’t start playing the phone game until I saw people talking and reblogging stuff about it, then I tried it.
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?
Well, in Steven Universe, a lot of the character have great arcs, that who their true opinions and colours, like how Amethyst had self-hating habits, Pearl didn’t think she was worth much, and seeing Peridot’s growing into a whole different gem, it’s really cool.
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves. (Characters you’re neutral about are fair game, as are characters you merely dislike. Characters that you absolutely loathe with the fire of ten thousand suns are exempt, as there is no point in giving yourself an aneurysm over a character that you hate.)
I’ll go with um... Lars from Steven Universe, I didn’t like him much as a character at first, but I could understand his insecurity and being unsure on how to act and how to show himself, and being scared to show his true colours... but now he’s showing his own worth and letting himself be who he is with the Off-colours, which I can genuinely appreciate about him, he’s much better as a character now.
M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.
Can I say the entire brotherhood? XD I would love that like you wouldn’t believe.
N - Name three things you wish you saw more of in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).
Just more Brotherhood content in general, uuuummm more monster-related AU’s? I don’t know, maybe more merchandise too? I don’t know I’m not all that demanding about content. o-o I’m terrible at this.
O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?
All the Way (Jacksepticeye fan song) is the one that came up on shuffle, and it reminded me of Hawking, at least my version. I could imagine he would listen to this to motivate himself or something like that.
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).
...Trying not to say Monster AU for any sort of fandom CRAP TOO LATE-
But what about a Shape of Water-esque AU?
Q - A fandom you’ve abandoned and why.
I haven’t really abandoned any fandom? o-O R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?
When they’re not a couple and they’re just best friends, Locke and Luger I guess, they act like big dorks. I don't know, I don’t think about relationships much besides family ones.
S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon (prompts optional but encouraged)
Hmm, well, I feel while Locke doesn’t know what his main sexuality is right now, he’d feel he’d be in writing (sexuality)/Asexual, as he never really had sexual feelings, he only had sex in order to have his son, and he honestly never liked it all that much.
I also have a head canon that Steppenwolf is afraid of humiliation, or just making a fool of himself in social situations (he’s got a very well hidden social anxiety), so if he saw a bunch of people staring at him and whispering to each other, he’d instantly become worried about what he did.
Another head canon is that I love to imagine Sabre can swordfight very well, and the person who taught him is surprisingly Tobor. As he was very good with a sword and shield combo back in the day (before his injuries).
T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?
That Steppenwolf is a werewolf okay not really, I’m not really about strong head canons that I would ‘die defending’. I just like the thought of him being one because it’d be ironic for his name... and it’s just with me for so long man.
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.
Steppenwolf (Sonic Fandom I guess)- I still don't fully understand why I liked him, I simply did but nowadays I just find the character I made him an extremely interesting character and every time I’ve wrote something or drawn something to try and cheer myself up, it made me feel he’d be a very strong, protective and oddly supportive in his own way. I’m not sure. I’m weird.
Lapis Lazuli (Steven Universe Fandom)- I just want her to be happy, I find her really interesting, her powers are really cool and I just want to know how things turn out for her, it just sucks that she tends to disappear for long periods of time.
Angus (Night in the Woods)-He’s a bit underrated but he’s just so cute to me, especially with how others draw him, I love his character and I feel bad for him when he takes about his abusive childhood and issues growing up that made him who he is today, made me want to give him a big hug.
V - Which character do you relate to most?
Well, I feel I can relate to Angus at a few points, always feeling like I have to be the responsible one, being usually quiet and wanting to hide in corners in parties (and your friend that you stick to is your corner in those situations),
I also feel I can relate to Retsuko from Aggretsuko, always trying to keep calm and from losing my temper, also Mister Ton kind of reminds me of my dad at some points... and he can piss me off just as much as he does with Retsuko so yeah.
Part of me also feels like I relate to my version of Rembrandt, he’s an artist, he deals with a lot of emotional issues, he’s insecure about his body size/weight, very motherly/fatherly and protective.
I dunno.
W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.
Annoying characters that think they’re full of themselves and practically perfect while thinking everyone else is below them and everyone is unworthy of their ‘greatness’... or mary-sues.
Or just a needlessly dramatic moments or moments of anger and arguments that don’t need to happen.
X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.
Kind of the big strong protective one with a heart of gold and is very loving whether they show it or not, or big ass ones who are strong as hell but are really just gentle giants.
And probably monsters stuff like werewolves or stuff but sometimes that can backfire and become annoying.
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?
Team Fortress 2 is one, have a few friends who like that game while I don’t like it much anymore for personal reasons, some horror fandoms like Five Nights at Freddy’s, Little Nightmares all of that. Idk
Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go! (Prompts optional but encouraged.)
Umm... I always strive to make my Guardians unique in different situations, hell, I imagined they were in certain AU’s or in certain video game situations, like a fighting game, I’d like imagining like ‘finishing moves’ they’d have or the type of weapons they’d have, or even simple stuff like hobbies or favourite foods. Just stuff like that... and I will try everything in my power to be unique, like in my Gem AU, wanted all the gems to be different and at the least unique, and the same with the Monster AU, only Thunder and Steppe’s are the same but they have a difference.
Okay that’s enough. ^^; This was really difficult surprisingly.

Behind The Bars (Chapter 1)
Night in the Woods - Shelter AU
Fandom: Night in the Woods
Characters: Mae Borowski, Bea Santello, Greggory Lee, Angus Delaney, Casey Hartley (Mentioned), Selma Ann “Selmers” Forrester, Jeremy “Germ” Warton
Genre: Friendship/Hurt/Comfort/Mystery
Rating: T
Warnings: Abuse, Character Death(s), Usage of Drugs
Word Count: 2293 Words
Disclaimer: I don’t own Night in the Woods nor the characters.
Summary: Mae Borowski was Possum Springs’ troublesome stray until an animal shelter caught her. Adopted and returned countless of times, the shelter decided to put her down… until Bea Santello decided to step in.
Author’s Note: First story for the NITW fandom and an AU too so, I’m sorry if it’s not good. This story is inspired by my cat, Julius who is now a huge lazy furbaby. Credit to Fuzzinator23 for proof reading this story.
Chapter 1 - The Storm
A loud yowl pierced through the night and rain. Heavy footsteps chase after smaller ones, splashes of water drowns into the rain as if god doesn’t want anyone to know what happens.
Another yowl comes through; angry, agonizing, desperate. Aluminium cans falls over as a small figure runs out of one of the cans. The figure is cornered, trapped between a huge wall and two shadows looms over it.
A net is thrown. Yowls and hisses follows as it struggles. One of the larger figure approaches and scoops it up, “No more running for you, kitten,” a low growl comes through.
The cat in the net stops struggling, probably due to exhaustion or fear. Storm still brewing the town. The cat shivers and curls up, letting out soft mews. The net is slung over a shoulder and is taken into a van.
Damp, cold, dark, all the words runs inside her head. Her body shudders, her fur is wet and the floor is cold. She wouldn’t be surprised if she ever ends up sick.
Back to the prison. Cold, dark prison.
She doesn’t want to go back there again.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The smell of morning after the rain had passed is refreshing, calming you could say. The soft light of the sun rises from the horizon, a perfect time to take in some fresh air outside and say hello to the neighbors.
…or stay in bed in the weekends.
Which is something Bea Santello would gladly do.
As she lays in bed in a tank top & shorts and blankets over her body, due to how cold last night has been, she regretted to not wear long pants & a shirt with sleeves but she could care less.
Except the fact her clock has been buzzing for a while now.
A claw extends and knocks it off the nightstand. At least the sound of the impact startles her enough to elicit a groan from the woman and forces her to move to the edge of the bed. Opening an eye halfway, she glances down.
9:45 AM.
Shit. Overslept again.
She picks up the digital clock and places it back on the nightstand before getting up. The gator yawns as she stretches herself and gets herself into the bathroom. Taking a quick hot shower and brushes her teeth, Beatrice gets herself ready for the day.
The store ain’t gonna open by itself. Ugh.
Even on weekends like this, she must open the store.
She puts on her signature black dress and hangs an ankh necklace around her neck. She looks at herself in the dresser mirror. If she looks closely, she could see the bags under her half-opened eyes. As if her dull blue eyes aren’t enough to tell how tired she has been.
There’s no use complaining about it now. She has done this for years. So, she sighs. Last night’s coffee would be good enough to provide the energy for the day.
For the day.
She still needs energy for night as well.
Chugging down a jug of coffee sounds like a good idea. Well, she was fixing to do that when she got to the kitchen, if only she didn’t glance at the clock.
9:58 AM.
Ah, shit.
But she still chugged down the coffee like how she wanted to.
She grabs a box of cigarettes and lighter from the counter and heads for the door. Hastily puts on her boots, she puts a cigarette in between her lips and lights it up, inhaling some of the nicotine from it.
It doesn’t really go well with caffeine.
Screw it.
Might as well, the horrible taste will keep her awake enough to go through the day.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Like any days in autumn, it is a very long day.
Well, for Bea at least.
Everything in her life IS a very long day.
Puffing out smoke, the smell of nicotine engulfs her and fills up her nostrils. It might have reached her brain and slowly killing her.
Eh, she wouldn't mind being dead. So long she didn't have to stand behind the register and check stocks in the store.
Ol’ Pickaxe has been standing for as long she could remember. She basically runs the store now, considering her father wouldn’t bother handling it himself. The tip of her tail taps on the floor to fill the silence in the empty hardware store.
She sits on a stool at the side and grabs a pamphlet from the counter. Might as well read while waiting for anyone to walk in. But the paper has been the same; all about the dead mines Possum Springs had once long time ago.
Possum Springs; a middle-of-nowhere-and-dying town. A hole which she would gladly leave, if it weren't for the fact that her father needs help from his only daughter. Stays on the couch, watching tv, drink or sleeps are the things he has done. .
Ever since her mother died.
Of cancer.
Which she really doesn’t like talking about.
Or bother thinking about it.
So, her dad shuts down and, like it or not, she has to stay and help him recover; starting by taking over the shop.
Which is what some people would say.
Ugh.
Bea sighs as the cigarette in her mouth has shorten. She takes it out and stamps it into the ashtray nearby, before taking out another cigarette from her dress pocket and lights it up as she places it against her lips.
Sucking in the smoke, she sighs heavily. Her shoulders slumps, the taste of unsweetened coffee still lingers in her mouth.
It’s disgusting.
Eh, works for me, she thought.
The sound of the bell from the door rings. She looks up, seeing a familiar bear tipping his hat as he approaches her. “Good morning, Bea,” Angus says.
“Hey, Angus,” she says. Angus places his hat back on his head and his ears perks up.
“You look worse for wear. Is something the matter?”
“Stayed up late. Overslept. Drank a lot of coffee this morning and wish that I could die right now.”
“You do realize smoking and coffee are bad together, yes?”
Bea shrugs. “Eh, so long as it keeps me awake. And I smoke to release my stress… which is all the time, mind you,” she says, squinting her eyes at him.
The man sighs and adjusts his glasses, “Then why not take up my offer, will you?” he says.
The gator is silent for a moment and Angus patiently waits for an answer.
But she already raises her hands. “I will not have a pet, Angus. I have enough things in my hands and I do not need a pet. I’ve been doing fine for quite a while now,” she protests.
It isn’t the first-time Angus suggested it. He has been telling her to get a pet, said it will help her to release her stress much effectively and they can be a good friend to her.
But also, there will be more mouths to feed.
As if her father isn’t enough to look after for.
She turned them down so far, but the more she did, the more frequent Angus brings it up to pique her interest.
Angus sighs once again. “Well, if you already decided that then. But could I ask a favor from you then?”
“Uh… sure, I guess. What is it?”
“Come with me to the shelter.”
Bea stares, trying to process what he just said, “…what?”
“Come with me to the shelter,” he repeats. Her blue eyes squint at him again as if trying to eat him whole.
“Angus, I told you-…”
“I’m getting a pet for myself, Bea. And the shelter is at the other side of town, so I need a ride from you.”
She was going to say something about it but she decided not to. She had seen the shelter once when she went there to deliver the tools they ordered. It is pretty far from where she lives and if it isn’t for Angus’ asthma, she would’ve turn it down.
Plus, she’s driving.
She can get out of work early since she’s the only one in the store today, like always.
So, she agrees.
She’s not the one that’s adopting… right?
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Cold. It was literally cold when she steps inside the shelter. The inside, unusually, looked no different from a medical center and the air conditioner’s air is so strong she could’ve died from freezing to death here. It was white, excluding some plants, toys and magazines on the coffee table.
This place reminds her of the hospital.
She hates it.
Angus goes up to the reception while Bea decides to stay in the lobby to read the magazines as she waits. He’s led to the back by the receptionist, who is a goat. Already, she’s bored after leafing through few pages of the magazine in her hand. She closes it and was fixing to light up a cigarette, but the shelter has a strictly “No smoking” policy.
Great.
So, her tail taps on the floor impatiently. She looks around, trying to take in the interior and sighs. She really hopes Angus would be quick because she’s bored to death.
Which is not, the kind of death she wanted.
Eh, whatever.
Still, she looks around and her eyes settles on a cage. An obvious black cage amongst the whiteness of the walls and floor. There’s was someone, or something in the cage curling up.
Is it one of the pets? Did it just get here?
She gets up and approaches, kneeling next to the little cage. Whatever’s inside is shielded by a cloth so she pulls it off. A cat. A small, navy blue cat wearing a brown and red shirt and black pants. The tip of the hair is red along with it's tail, which wraps around it nicely.
And covered it's face.
Bea makes sure no one’s around before she gently pokes the cat with her claw. The ears twitch and she immediately pulls away, slightly shaking the cage when her claws hit the bars. The ears perk up; she could see the right ear was notched, making it look like a bite mark.
The cat yawns and stretches itself as much as it could. It opens it's eyes, which are larger than any normal cats she has seen in the neighborhood. Red eyes, brighter than Bea’s, blink several times before they stare at the young gator.
“Can I help you, miss?” A gruff voice greets from behind. She turns to see a bear, much older than Angus. She could see the faint wrinkles on his face and a name tag on his shirt written; Hank, dressed in all white, so she assumed he’s the vet. She scratches the back of her head.
“Just… checking this little fella here,” she says.
“Oh… I’m sorry, but she’s not up for adoption anymore.”
This pique her curiosity a bit. She looks up to the older bear. “What do you mean by that?”
Doctor Hank lets out a heavy sigh. He seems reluctant. Bea was about to say something but the man cuts her off, “She had to be put down,” he says with a low voice.
Those words… ‘put down’, are poison to her ears. Irritating, hurt. Her usually tired, dull blue eyes widens in shock. She glances at the cat in the cage who now tries to stand, but she couldn’t due to how small the space she’s in. But she stares, beaming at her.
“Is… she sick?” Because that’s the only reason a doctor would be putting down someone. Sickness, a terrible sickness that has no cure.
Like cancer.
Like her mother.
Shit, why the hell does she have to remember that?
“It’s more to her behavior. She’s… too violent, even to other pets in this shelter. It’s one of the reasons why she’s inside the cage instead at the back with the rest.”
Behavior? Violent? Is that why they want her dead?
“She’s that bad?” Bea asks, her tone hardened without she realizes.
Doctor Hank notices that and sighs, “She has been adopted four times this month and returned in the same day. The longest she’s ever been with a foster family is a whole day. But the next day she was returned. And the complaints are the same; stealing food, bullying others and vandalizing homes,” he explains.
Those things should have be enough to convince Beatrice to not adopt a pet. But she kept glancing at the cat, who now approaches the bars and reached one of her paws to her. Bea doesn’t move, not even when the cat grabs one of her claws.
Curious like a child, she thought. She has seen other pets who are a lot larger than her, even other cats in the neighborhood. She looks innocent enough to not cause all that.
Well, maybe she would but it couldn’t have been on purpose.
Right?
“What’s her name?” Bea asks.
“Pardon?”
“Her name. What is it?”
“Mae Borowski. 20. But too small despite her age. Probably a disease regarding to her growth.”
Dwarfism, she thought. That could be it. Maybe. She’s not very keen with all those medical terms. She looks at Mae for a moment and, unexpectedly, she opens the cage. Doctor Hank tries to stop her, but he stood at the side when Bea holds up her hand.
Mae crawls, no, rolls out of the cage like a ball and sits up to look at Bea. The gator gently pets her, her fur is oily and sticky. She feels slightly upset by how Mae was treated, even though Hank said she will be put down.
Poison. Those words are poison.
Behaviors can be fixed.
She can be fixed.
Bea looks back at the man. “I’m adopting her.“
