I cannot stress over much I love this book. And the chills I got when this scene came up? I just HAD to draw it omg.

The Will of the Many’s first person pov really works in making me feel feeling in regards to names. When we first meet our main character he’s called Vis. It’s what everyone calls him, but we’re told it’s a fake name, that he’s using it to hide. Later we learn his real name – Diago – but it comes from a person who is threatens to use it against him. Very few characters actually call him Diago, meanwhile he goes and gives the name to the wolf he befriends. Is it weird, naming a pet after yourself? Or is it not weird because that isn’t your name anymore? If not for the danger of revealing who you were, would you know what to answer when someone asks your name? Did Diago die along with the rest of his family that day, or did you bury him yourself because it was only way to survive?

This is actually more hilarious when you read the first chapter of book 2. The dude is literally chilling.

Vis: "my father hated lies. not just the kind that were told to him—that, he once observed, was the opposite of a unique condition. But he hated falsehood itself"
