Aquarium lights - Shiguruma

The glass is set down gently atop a square napkin and Higuruma fingers the stem. Shi-woo lifts his glass in a toast, they clink, smiling at each other for the first time tonight. “Good to see you,” Shi-woo says against the rim of his glass and means it. Higuruma nods, swallows and licks his lips. “It is, yeah. How have you been?” “Oh, busy,” he sighs, waving the topic away. “Let’s not get into that, though, I really don’t want to talk about work.” That makes Higuruma laugh, lift his glass in a salute and take another sip from it. He seems to like it. Good. Then he swivels his chair halfway, elbow on the bar, as he surveys the room for a second. It’s all glass, the cityscape around and below them, lit up for the night in neon. All the colours of the rainbow and then some. Gorgeous people in expensive clothes milling around, chatting, laughing, drinking. The music is non-descript but easily ignored. Shi-woo doesn’t come here for any of that. Higuruma turns back, drags a finger over the bar, following a group of Rosy Barbs on their way. “The fish?” Shi-woo smiles, turns towards Higuruma, one elbow on the bar, cradling his chin in his palm. “The fish,” he agrees. “I remembered,” Higuruma says quietly, clears his throat.

Through - Shiguruma

Higuruma scrolls through his phone, one shoulder leaned against the wall of the cubicle. It’s covered in graffiti from head to toe, but at least it’s not too sticky and the seat is actually kind of comfortable. First time that he hasn’t prayed for a plastic sheet to cover the seat with and maybe a hazmat suit for himself. So he sits and waits. Judging from the muffled noises, the pulsating beats of the music, others have already gotten visitors at their holes. Higuruma answers a work email and pockets his phone. Reads graffiti and almost calls one of the phone numbers, just because, when there’s a knock above the hole. His mouth waters immediately and Higuruma opens the cover. The man on the other side chuckles, there’s the tell tale sound of a belt, a zipper and the heavy rustle of pants being dropped.

Late Night, early Morning - Shiguruma

Shi-Woo exhales a plume of smoke and watches it drift away between the quiet buildings. It’s the wrong side of late, he’s stuck in some cursed wall and no one will find him. “What a fucking stupid way to die,” he says to himself and sighs again. “Erm,” someone says behind him and Shi-Woo looks over his shoulder at the brick wall. “Hello?” “Hello? Are you okay? Do you need help?” “Huh. Evidently. I’m stuck.” “I can see that.”
