I like to tell my art students, “work harder, not smarter”. That philosophy is no more evident than in this Donut with Sprinkles deck card. This was my 5th grade class today. I'm virtually teaching this pre-recorded lesson step by step meanwhile the real me is free to observe, assist and pause/rewind the video for those students who needed to slow down or catch-up. I would also say to monitor for disruptive behavior. But that was completely absent today. As you can see every student is fully engaged, engrossed even in what's being taught. And so with some hard work and careful attention to detal I have become my own assistant in order to be more present as a teacher.
